INTRODUCTION We live in an age of philanthropic democratization… As always, we must begin with a heartfelt thank you to those who have generously supported Wilbraham & Monson Academy. Yours is more than a gift—it’s an investment in the lives of our students. You are helping them discover who they are, what they can achieve, and how they can make a difference in the world. But you don’t have to take our word for it. Throughout this issue, you will find links to video messages from some of our students in which they share a bit about themselves, their accomplishments, and what WMA means to them. I encourage you to listen to these student voices. Their stories exemplify the real impact that philanthropy has on the Academy; the support and advancement of a special community, where young people thrive. We know the world our students are preparing to enter is complex and ever-changing. That’s why a WMA education (rigorous, innovative, and supportive) remains as consequential now as when we were founded. With your help, we will continue to give our students the tools they need to succeed and the confidence to lead with integrity. Together, we can ensure that WMA remains a place where students are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. Sean T. Valentine, Director of Development

We live in an age of philanthropic democratization, and this issue, through donor stories, explores the various forms gifts to the Academy can take. You might discover a method you hadn't considered, or one that better fits your situation. Ways of giving back have never been broader, and regardless of how your gift is made, the difference your donation will make to WMA has never been greater. The more members of our community who align their love for WMA with a giving method that best fits their life, the stronger and more successful the Academy will be.

With gratitude,

Sean T. Valentine Director of Development

BOARD MESSAGE I’m starting to run out of appropriate adjectives… Since 2020 the Academy has been the recipient of individual gifts of $7,500,000, $5,000,000, $4,000,000, $2,000,000 and many more highly generous contributions. WMA has also received a realized bequest of $2,000,000. The Power of Change Campaign has crossed $25,000,000 as of this writing, and is quickly approaching $30,000,000. Meanwhile, members of our Heritage Society have committed nearly $40,000,000 in planned gifts, led by a major bequest intention of $15,000,000. What's more, the Atlas Fund, which is so critical to school growth and performance, continues to enjoy generous support from our alumni, parents and friends. The last five years are possibly the most consequential half decade of philanthropic success since the Academy's founding. I have had the pleasure of thanking so many people for their support of WMA that I’ve started to run out of appropriate adjectives. This past October I had to dig out my thesaurus, because Ray Anton ’61M and his wife, Wendy, confirmed their commitment of $4,000,000 to Phase III of our Campus Master Plan. Scott B. Jacobs ’75, Chair, Board of Trustees

As you read more about them in the profile piece on page 4, you will learn that their donation did not appear out of nowhere; the journey had many steps over many years; student, alumnus, volunteer, supporter, trustee and now current grandparents. Every donor listed in this report is on their own journey with WMA, and as we each strive to deepen our connection to our school and appreciate all it has done for us, we can help it succeed by making the best gift we can. To those who lend their support, and are honored herein, I say “thank you.” Your generosity makes a real difference in the lives of our students and, for that, we are truly grateful. To those I have yet to thank, I say, “Now is the time.”

With gratitude,

Scott B. Jacobs ’75 Chair, Board of Trustees

FEATURE DONOR PROFILE Building the Future: Ray ’61M and Wendy Anton’s Gift of Vision and Heart By Sean T. Valentine Director of Development Few lives have taken as many turns as that of Dr. Raymond “Ray” Anton ’61M. From his days as a Monson Academy student, to his time behind the wheel of championship race cars and his distinguished 47-year career as an anesthesiologist, Dr. Anton has spent his life blending precision with curiosity and purpose. Which is exactly what Dr. Anton and his wife, Wendy, hope their $4,000,000 commitment to Phase III of the Academy’s Campus Master Plan will do: provide a new performing arts center where students can learn the intricacies of theater, music and dance, explore new modes of self-expression and find purpose in performance.

Ray Anton ’61M

“It’s time to give back,” said Dr. Anton. “To give the performing arts center a big push forward, to be part of the incredible progress WMA is making right now, we feel very blessed to be part of it.” Dr. Anton’s journey to this seminal gift began in seventh grade in Palmer, Massachusetts, when his parents enrolled him in Monson Academy. “My mother didn’t think that Palmer schools were offering me the academic growth and opportunities I needed, and felt Monson Academy would,” he said. Living in Palmer made Monson Academy — a mere five miles away — the logical choice from a distance perspective, but Dr. Anton’s mother, who was very active in the local community, knew of the school's reputation for academic rigor and strong personal character. Dr. Anton recalled his experience at Monson as transformative. “Academically, it gave me a very strong background, especially in math and science,” he said. “Monson gave me confidence because I had an excellent education.” At Monson, Dr. Anton wrote for the newspaper and worked on the yearbook. Athletically, he played golf and tennis, and was on the riflery team. Teachers like Dr. George Rogers, Hugh Harrell and George Morrow were demanding, but also inspiring educators who pushed students to do their best. Grades and class ranks were publicly posted, instilling a sense of competition and pride in accomplishment that still resonates with him. “Only you, within your heart and soul, know whether you’ve done your best,” he said.

Ray Anton Senior Photo

Mr. Samuel Hughes, Dr. Anton’s English instructor, made a particular impression. “Mr. Hughes was very demanding,” he recalled. “He took off for every punctuation mistake, every spelling mistake and every grammar mistake. If you disagreed with your score, you had to stand and state your case in a formal manner.” Mr. Hughes was not devoid of wit, however. Dr. Anton can recall a specific episode in which a classmate had lost so many points that he had a negative grade on an assignment, and who told Mr. Hughes it would have been better to have signed his name and turned in the paper blank. “Without batting an eyelash, Mr. Hughes looked at him and said, ‘provided you spelled your name correctly.’ And that was Mr. Hughes.” Dr. Anton’s time at Monson also gave him lifelong friendships, especially with Mark Shenkman ’61M. “We were the two smallest kids in the class,” Anton said with a laugh. “If you look at photos you can tell I was smaller than everyone else, and I think Mark gravitated to me for

that, and our shared academic excellence.” Mr. Shenkman was a boarding student, and Dr. Anton’s mother would often request Mark accompany her son home for dinner, something that few other boarders were allowed to do. They also discovered a shared interest in business and investing. “My mother got the Wall Street Journal at home. She and I would read it and then I’d take it in for Mark,” said Dr. Anton. “All this is the sort of stuff that creates bonds for a lifetime. I feel very lucky in that.” Monson Academy eventually became a family affair. Dr. Anton’s brother David graduated in 1966, and his brother Philip and cousin Carol Cady graduated from the newly combined Wilbraham & Monson Academy in 1975.

Mark Shenkman '61M, Wendy & Ray Anton

“I wasn’t necessarily happy when the schools merged,” recalled Dr. Anton. “I knew it was the right decision, but I didn’t feel it was communicated well to the alumni of either side. It took me a little to get back my same feeling for the place. Having my youngest brother and cousin graduate from WMA definitely helped.” After Monson, Dr. Anton attended St. Michael’s College, where he earned his Bachelor of Science, and then attended the University of Vermont College of Medicine. Dr. Anton’s father was a surgeon and family practitioner. He handled pretty much any medical situation that arose, and the younger Dr. Anton grew up helping. His early experiences gave him both an introduction to the demands of medical life and also a leg up on his medical school classmates. “When I got to med school, I found I was comfortable and competent in a lot of things my classmates weren’t,” he said. “I guess that speaks to being in the ER at age 8, and the delivery room by age 18.” Eventually, Dr. Anton decided to specialize in anesthesiology, as he was drawn to the field’s immediacy and technical precision. “You see a problem, you fix it and at the end of the day, you feel a sense of accomplishment,” he said. The more flexible and predictable work-life balance was also attractive. “My father had office hours until midnight, four nights a week,” he recalled. “I would see him at the dining room table on weekends with stacks of charts to complete. I realized I wanted something different, something that gave me time for a family and hobbies.”

Ray & Wendy Anton w. granddaughter Annabelle at Matriculation 2025

Throughout his career, Dr. Anton has devoted constiderable energy toward the larger anesthesiology community at both the state and national level. He is a past president of the Anesthesia Section of the Massachusetts Medical Society and Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiologists, and served on the board of directors for the American Society of Anesthesiologists. His volunteer work also included being a medical missionary around the world. One such trip in Nepal nearly turned him into a patient. “My son Chris and I were in Kathmandu in 2000,” said Dr. Anton. “Our flight was canceled and with eight days until the next one we decided to see how far to Everest basecamp we could hike, which was a rather crazy thing to attempt in hindsight. A few days in, I developed pulmonary edema. We turned around, and with Chris carrying both our packs, we descended 4,000 feet in 14 hours. Luckily that did the trick and I ended up OK.”

Ray's race car from 1973 to 1975

Away from medicine, Dr. Anton’s enduring passion is for machinery and speed. He began autocross racing in 1971 during his medical residency and soon became a dominant force in regional racing circuits. He was the 1972 Class A autocross champion and, by 1974, he was the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Castrol National Rookie of the Year. By 1975, he had captured over 20 first-place finishes and competed at the famed Watkins Glen Six-Hour World Sports Car Championship (finishing fifth). He finished second in the 1975 SCCA National Championship. Dr. Anton also served as Medical Director of SCCA for the eastern half of the United States. Although he left racing in 1975 to start a family, Dr. Anton eventually found his way back when his son Jeff got into professional motocross racing. Having put under one too many injured bikers, Dr. Anton talked his son into auto racing. “I told him, ‘Look, you’re not going to be able to walk at 50 if you keep this up,’ so we founded Anton Racing and eventually started a family-owned NASCAR team.” Competing as a small team was a constant challenge, and eventually Jeff signed on to drive with another outfit. Giving back has always been part of Dr. Anton’s life, and he has been deeply involved in philanthropy both at St. Michael’s and UVM. Through his friend — and Academy trustee — Mr. Shenkman, Dr. Anton became increasingly active with WMA, joining the Board of Trustees himself in 2018. “I’d done a lot at my colleges,“ he says, “It was time to be more involved back here. I have a perspective of life and education I feel strongly about so I thought I might be useful for the school. I'm also into buildings and building things, and WMA was clearly on the path to doing that at the time.”

Shenkman Gala 2019

Since joining the Board, Dr. Anton has given much of his time and resources. In addition to philanthropically supporting the construction of the Athenaeum, iLab and Dining Commons, he has also shared his investing and business acumen with students as part of the Student Investment Seminar. But it was the enrollment of his granddaughter into the WMA Middle School and her love of dance that pushed him and Wendy to make their extraordinary commitment to the performing arts project. “We want the Academy to keep up its momentum, and have the performing arts center follow right on the heels of the Dining Commons,” said Dr. Anton. “This is transformational change for WMA and stems directly from Brian Easler’s leadership. It’s been wonderful to get to know him and watch his vision unfold to change the course of the Academy. We’re proud to be a part of it!” For Head of School Brian P. Easler, the Anton’s latest gift is simply the most recent example of what makes them so special. “Ray and Wendy’s generosity comes from the heart,” he said. “They give because they believe in people — in our students, our teachers and in what WMA can do to change lives. Their belief in what the Academy can be, and their willingness to make it possible, is profoundly inspiring.” With their generous commitment to the performing arts center, Ray and Wendy Anton have strengthened the foundation of creativity and excellence at WMA. Their gift celebrates the transformative power of education—and ensures that the next generation of students will have the opportunity to dream, create and thrive.

PROFILE ON GIVING: MONTHLY RECURRING Christopher Descalzo Jr. ’93 Mr. Descalzo has supported WMA with a monthly recurring gift since late 2021. He chatted with Director of Development Sean Valentine about his WMA experience and why he chooses to support the Academy every month. WMA: What is one of your favorite memories of WMA? Mr. Descalzo: Participating in school plays. It was WAY out of my comfort zone, but Mr. John Sbordone convinced me to try out my junior year for “Of Mice and Men.”I did, and I was hooked. He even got me to recruit most of the seniors to join in a huge fight scene for “The Outsiders.” I was very excited, but when I got the script, he chose me for a character who dies before the epic fight scene. I was upset, and I lobbied him for weeks to let me be part of the rumble somehow. He agreed if I changed costumes so no one would recognize me. Sure enough, the fight scene happened and, 30 seconds into it, someone in the crowd yells out, “Wait, isn’t Chris dead?” What other extracurricular activities did you do at WMA? Chris w. Wife Marissel

I was class president both junior and senior year. I loved being a voice for the boarding students. I played varsity basketball and varsity baseball. My senior year, I had the chance to coach the Middle School basketball team and loved it. After high school, I coached basketball for another five years. Where there particular faculty members who had an impact on you? Mr. Charlie “Chuck D” D’Avanzo was always so positive. He was constantly harping on me to be a leader and gave me the confidence to run for class president. Mr. D always went the extra mile for his students. My senior year, I had trouble getting up to make it to first period on time. Mr. D found out and promised me I would never be late again. For the next month, he would come by my room every morning and bang on the door and yell, “Scaz, it’s time to get up!” Mr. Joe Mazeika was another one. Truthfully, at first, I didn’t like Mr. Mazeika because he told it how he saw it, and it rubbed me the wrong way. As time passed, he became one of my favorite teachers and one of the best people who shaped my teenage years. He even helped me design my Senior Stone. How did WMA prepare you for the future? First, I was very prepared for college. I had good study habits and the confidence to meet people. I also learned independence having been a boarding student for three years. Second, at WMA I met people from all over the world. I was the Cuban boy from Miami (Florida). It blew me away how much all of us had in common even though we came from such different backgrounds. That realization helped me when forming relationships and negotiations related to my business ventures.

WILBRAHAM & MONSON ACADEMY

What would you tell someone who knew nothing about WMA? It is a large campus with a tight community. After a month, everyone knows your name. In larger schools you can easily get lost in the shuffle. At WMA, you can participate in activities, clubs and sports. There is a family feel while still having the ability to stand out from the crowd in ways that matter. What’s an interesting thing most people wouldn’t know about you? My wife and I started a small toy drive (www.descalzotoydrive.com) to help children in foster care before we had kids. This year will be our 18th straight year, and with the help of our two daughters, our toy drive has become a BIG family affair. Why do you support WMA, and why through our recurring gift program? WMA was an incredible place for me. It exposed me to so much. If I can help the school or the students in some small way, it is the least I can do. Giving something back each month feels good and it's easy. Even a small monthly contribution, like the cost of a single streaming app, goes a long way for everyone at WMA. I can do that, and I think most other people can too.

PROFILE ON GIVING: ‘APPRECIATED’ SECURITIES Richard Morgan ’59W By Sean T. Valentine Director of Development According to Academy records, Richard “Dick” Morgan ’59W has been supporting the Academy for nearly 30 years. That’s almost certainly inaccurate, as our digital records only go back about three decades. So, let’s just say that Dick has lent his financial support to WMA for a very long time indeed. Aside from being tremendously consistent with his support, Dick is also known for routinely making his gifts by donating appreciated securities, i.e., investment assets such as stocks or bonds, that are worth more at the time of donation than when they were bought. Why would one want to donate like this? “The ease of the transaction works for me,” Dick said. “That, and the tax benefits. If you sell the stock, take the money yourself and then write the school a check, you or your broker need to submit a 1099 at the end of the year reporting the profit, on which you then would be taxed. Giving the stock directly to WMA lets me deduct the market value and avoid capital gains, so it benefits the school and me.” Dick should know. He spent his career in the financial industry in New York and New Jersey for companies like Hornblower Fischer & Co., Dean Witter Reynolds, Thomson McKinnon Securities, Inc., L.F. Rothschild & Co. Incorporated and Kaukaku Securities (America) Inc. Dick Morgan Senior Photo

Originally from White Plains, N.Y., Dick enrolled in the Academy as a sophomore in 1956. He was an exceptionally busy student. He was a Gold Key tour guide, a member of the Dramatics, Old and Press clubs, was a member of the Senior Gift Committee and served as Class Treasurer. Athletically, Dick played varsity football and baseball, was on the varsity wrestling team, and ran winter and spring track. It makes sense then that his senior superlative was “the biggest grind,” referring to his dedication, persistence and hard-working nature. In the years since his graduation, Dick has stayed true to that ethos and to the Academy. A former member of the Board of Trustees, he served on the Finance Committee and helped steer the fiscal future of the Academy. Together with classmates like Bill Tychsen, Mike Papadaki, David Giffith and Lee Pinney, he organized reunions and helped spread the message of philanthropy to the school. The Academy thanks Dick for his decades of leadership and support. His generosity is appreciated in more ways than one!

PROFILE ON GIVING: DONOR ADVISED FUND Dean Redfern ’72 Dean Redfern has been ahead of the curve for most of his life. By Anne Kandel, Director of Annual Giving Long before the word software became part of our standard vocabulary, Dean Redfern ’72 was already deep in the world of computing. In the eighth grade, in the late ’60s, Dean taught himself to write computer programs. “Fortunately for me, my dad was the director of computer systems at a manufacturing company in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, so I self-taught myself how to write computer programs that ran on his big IBM mainframe computer on weekends,” he said. Keep in mind there was no internet, no YouTube tutorials and barely any books on the subject; Dean ventured into uncharted territory with great success. Dean Redfern Senior Photo

When Dean graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1976, he took a job as a software programmer in an early stage, venture-backed software company called McCormack and Dodge in Newton, Massachusetts. He was the 20th employee and the company broke $1 million in software sales during his first year. “The industry was in its infancy,’’ Dean said. “The company that I joined, McComack and Dodge, grew very quickly through mergers, acquisitions and organic growth. And we ultimately became a company called Dun & Bradstreet Software, which in the early 1990s was the fourth largest software company in the world based on revenue.” Dean continued on a successful path in the software industry, which included both meeting his wife, Rosann, and moving from Dun & Bradstreet to run a small software company in downtown Boston called Performance Technologies. Before age 50, Dean and Rosann decided to retire. “Building and running a software company is not a five-day-a-week job, so I had to put some of my personal goals and interests aside until I had the time to fulfill them,’’ Dean said. “I am a lifelong runner, but I was not able to effectively train and run in local road races until we retired to Tampa, Florida.

“Once there, I joined a group of serious young and middle-aged runners who were being trained by the women's cross country coach at the University of Tampa. For many years thereafter, I pounded out lots of 5K and 10K road races. Likewise, I wanted to spend more time volunteering, and among other things, I taught, on a volunteer basis, how to use a computer to senior citizens at the University of South Florida.” Over the years, Dean has also kept a connection both with the Academy and friends from his class, such as Jon Murray. Dean attended his 50th reunion recently and, clearly, the personal connections made by Dean and so many other WMA students run very deep. “My 50th reunion was both a happy and sad event for me,’’ he said. “I connected with a handful of high school buddies, but at the same time was saddened when talking about the prior death of one of my classmates, Greg Merkel, with whom I truly enjoyed our time together at Wilbraham & Monson Academy.” Dean Redfern Senior Stone

To no one’s surprise, given their generous nature, Dean and Rosann have been very loyal contributors to the Atlas Fund over the past 20 years. They have recently switched from stock transfers to making their donations using a Donor Advised Fund. A DAF is, in effect, an investment account for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations about which you care. Donors want their charitable donations to be as effective as possible, and DAF vehicles are excellent vehicles through which to achieve that goal. Donor-advised funds are the fastest-growing charitable giving vehicle in the United States, largely because they are one of the easiest and most tax-advantageous ways to give to charity. “We made the switch to a DAF for several reasons,’ he said. “First, donating appreciated stock is a paper-intensive and cumbersome effort of coordinating the transfer of equities from a personal account to a not-for-profit business account. Class of 1972 50th Reunion Left to Right: Verne Oleksowicz, Dr. Mark Keroack, Mark Rattan, Dan Kunhardt Jr., Frederick Blackwell, Roger "Boz" Lincoln, Dean Redfern, Hillary Sullivan, Michael Buder

“DAFs are designed to make the entire philanthropic process easy and automated, from start to finish. There are no forms to fill out, no checks to be sent. When I make a DAF contribution to the Academy, for example, the DAF contribution is immediately sent and received electronically by WMA. This sometimes happens in minutes.” Dean Redfern’s journey — from self-taught teen coder to successful software executive and dedicated philanthropist — epitomizes what it means to be ahead of his time while staying true to his values. His story is not just one of professional success, but also of meaningful connection, lifelong learning and giving back. Whether blazing trails in a fledgling tech industry, pounding the pavement in road races or supporting Wilbraham & Monson Academy through thoughtful philanthropy, Dean continues to lead with purpose and passion. His legacy is a testament to the power of curiosity, resilience and generosity —and a reminder of the lasting impact one individual can have on a community and beyond.

PROFILE ON GIVING: ENDOWED FUND Glenn R. Anschutz ’79 Mr. Glenn Anschutz ’79 recently established the Elizabeth Anschutz Memorial Scholarship Fund as part of the Academy’s endowment, in honor of his mother and the instrumental role she played in steering him down a different educational path. Mr. Anschutz talked with WMA about his Academy experience and why he chose to support the Academy in this way. WMA: How did WMA happen for you? Mr. Anschutz: I was a C and D student at Minnechaug (Regional High School in Wilbraham). Not working to my full potential. My mother and father could tell, and they gave me a choice: switch to a school like WMA or go to a trade school. I think I surprised them by saying, ‘OK, I’ll go to trade school.’ They shared a glance, looked at me and said, ‘Like hell you are.’ My mother researched the curriculum, support system and experiences available at WMA. She arranged an interview with Headmaster (Francis) Casey. He grilled me hard, but then said, ‘I think you’d be a perfect fit for WMA. You should come'. When you created this scholarship, the phrase “different educational path” came up more than a few times. What does that mean to you?

Glenn Anschutz Senior Photo

WMA changed the direction of my academic and, ultimately, business life. Suddenly, I had the support of this singular community of people who knew you, challenged you and supported you. They expected excellence, and you gave it. Mr. Casey went out of his way to support me. I can still do math and financial estimates in my head faster than my CFO thanks to Mr. (Hugh) Harrell (grades 11 and 12 math teacher at the time). He got me to understand math in a way I never could before. My teachers and coaches helped me realize what I could accomplish if I worked hard. I did a complete 180. I became an A student, went to Nichols College and graduated with a 3.75 GPA. Do you have any special memories from your time at WMA? So many. Some I probably shouldn’t tell! I recall that my ski coach, Mr. (Scott) Diddel, went away for a few weeks once, and needed someone to watch his dog. Mr. Casey told him I could manage it. So I crashed in Mr. Diddel’s faculty apartment! The confidence they placed in me was astounding. I had to grow up quick. When did you decide that you wanted to start an endowed scholarship to honor your mother?

Glen Anschutz Senior Stone

I had it in my head for a long time. I just didn’t have the means. Endowment gifts are different. It’s the earnings of your initial gift that make the difference, so I wanted mine to be meaningful and something I could continue to build up. After a good career and a business exit, I knew I could create a scholarship at a level that would be impactful for the student who would receive it. How does it make you feel to support the school financial aid program like you have? The Academy was a stretch for my family. My mother had to go back to work to help pay for my WMA education. She knew how important it was. To have her name on something that is helping make WMA a reality for a current student feels very special. Mr. Anschutz served as President & CEO and Chairman & Chief Strategy Officer of OneShield Software for more than 20 years. Prior to that, he held leadership roles within several Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Anschutz lives in Florida and enjoys water skiing, alpine skiing and golf.

Growing WMA’s endowment is critical to the Academy’s success WMA’s endowment provides only a small portion of what is needed to keep WMA running each year; academic programs, athletics, arts and everything else that makes WMA so special. Planning for the Future in support of WMA

Emily Peckham P’24 Inspired by the generosity received from Wilbraham & Monson Academy and the foundational education it provided her daughter, Ms. Peckham joined the Heritage Society in January 2025 by naming WMA as a beneficiary of her individual retirement account. Ms. Peckham recounts her family’s experience and why she has chosen to support WMA in this way. "The cost of boarding school never seemed like a possibility for my family, but when I heard about a friend’s son receiving financial aid from a prep school, we looked into it. My daughter completed the applications mostly on her own, and WMA emerged as not only her favorite but also the most generous with financial support. While it was still a stretch for us, it always felt worth it. She arrived at WMA (as a Grade 9 student) in the fall of 2020, when the pandemic was forcing many schools to teach online. I appreciated that WMA’s in-person protocols were thoughtful and based on science. Because of this, WMA students were able to operate as a “bubble” like many extended families and friend groups did during the pandemic. It meant that her experience of the pandemic was a bit brighter than many others, and she and her roommate formed a close bond.

Emily Peckham P’24 and her daughter

In October of her sophomore year, she got a head injury during a water polo scrimmage. It meant that she was both unable to play for the rest of the season and wasn’t able to go to classes for an extended period. The support she received from the health office on campus still brings tears to my eyes when I think of it. It meant so much to her and to me to have these surrogate parents who enveloped her with love and care. During what was a deeply difficult time, the women in that office went above and beyond to make sure that my daughter had the resources and attention to recover. At the end of that year, we made the decision for her to come home to finish high school in Maine. She wanted to be back at home for her last stretch of childhood now that her brother was leaving for college. Having had the experience of attending WMA and being out of the house for what are some of the hardest years for adolescent girls, she came home basically functioning as an adult. She knew how to manage her time, organize her school work and avoid getting into trouble. She was responsible and trustworthy. The academic skills she developed at WMA - outstanding debate performance and a high level of fluency in literature, writing and history - allowed her to excel. She’s now a sophomore at Oberlin College. She sometimes shares the papers that she’s written, and the caliber of her writing and the depth of her inquiry into the subject matter are astonishing. Her two years at WMA definitely helped her prepare for the rigor of college. My daughter’s WMA experience was only possible because of the financial aid support we received from the Academy. I’ve wanted to express my gratitude for the experience that she had by giving back to the scholarship funds she benefited from. My career has continued to develop since then, and I’ve been able to set aside more money in my IRA. Naming Wilbraham & Monson Academy as an additional beneficiary was an easy choice!" Ms. Peckham is the Director of the Council for the Arts at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She lives in Maine with her family.

If you have included WMA in your estate plan or would like information on doing so, please contact the Office of Advancement: 413.596.9182 or advancement@wma.us. Girls Rugby 2022

While last year’s Financial Update focused on the endowment, this year I would like to highlight the Academy’s total revenues and expenses and the $920K+ in net operating income realized during the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025. Like most independent schools, the majority of our revenue comes in the form of tuition payments, with donations forming the second largest source. Other operating income (Beech Tree summer camp, campus store, Spa cafe sales, etc.) forms the next largest section, followed by endowment appropriations.

Like most independent schools, WMA’s primary area of expenditure is programmatic, which includes academic instruction, athletics, arts, student services, admissions operations, etc. That said, the other defined areas of expense directly support the programmatic operations of the Academy. Capital projects completed during the year ended June 30, 2025 included a new section of Senior Wall alongside the athletic fields on Faculty Street, and completion of a campus wide IT network infrastructure update.
