On behalf of the WIAA Executive Board, welcome to the WIAA State Championships, presented by Gesa Credit Union! We are here to celebrate our student-athletes, to applaud their hard work and perseverance, and acknowledge their success. Congratulations to the student-athletes! Thank you to the coaches, teachers, families and communities who surrounded athletes with the support necessary to help make their season-long journey successful. WIAA education-based athletics creates an incredible experience for student-athletes, competing alongside classmates, building lifelong relationships, and memorializing their high school days with a sense of pride and accomplishment. We are proud to witness these student-athletes strive for greatness. Additionally, promoting sportsmanship is a crucial element to these WIAA State Tournaments. The WIAA Executive Board wishes that everyone from participants, to coaches, to spectators, and everyone else practice good sportsmanship throughout the entirety of this State Event. Please do your part to make this State Event a positive experience for everyone involved.

Welcome to the WIAA State Championships, presented by Gesa Credit Union. The WIAA Executive Board, staff and member schools share a common goal of providing interscholastic activities that enrich the lives of our students and create lifelong memories. WIAA State Championships are the result of determination, commitment and hard work throughout the course of a season by numerous people. At the WIAA, we believe that education-based athletics and activities offer the safest, most equitable, and most rewarding environment for young people to stay engaged. It is an honor for our staff to plan and host these culminating events, but it is the efforts of coaches, athletic directors, officials and the countless volunteers that work these State Championships events who make these experiences possible.

This State Championship event is about the students who will take center stage, celebrating the immense effort they’ve put forth to get to this point. I commend the parents, families, and loved ones for their support of their student to this point. The role you play in the lives of these participants is not forgotten, however, we must recognize that this stage is about the studentparticipant and their incredible achievement to get here. Congratulations to you all on this massive accomplishment! Sportsmanship and citizenship are core pillars of WIAA State Championship events, and I encourage you to support every participant. All students must have a safe environment to compete, and by showing positive support, you are contributing to an event that is fun for all - students, coaches, families, and fans.

The Washington Officials Association (WOA) salutes all student-participants in this year’s WIAA State Tournament, presented by Gesa Credit Union. It takes an incredible amount of effort and hard work to reach this point in the the season, and that dedication you’ve shown to get here is truly commendable. Congratulations to all of the student-participants for reaching this stage, and enjoy the moments and memories created from this special experience. Although these WIAA State Tournaments are often the highlight of an individual’s officiating season, the WOA recognizes every official who worked throughout the season, day after day, and night after night across every corner of Washington. These individuals play an immense and essential role in the success of interscholastic activities in Washington. Individuals who choose to officiate do so in order to stay in involved with athletics and activities, and to give back to a program or sport they have found to be beneficial, and the WOA couldn’t be more grateful.
