What’sPoppinSunnies!InthismonthofOctoberandoverallin theseasonoffall,therearesomanyfunactivitiesthatyoucan dotokeepyourselfoccupiedandalsocreativecraftstodowith yourfriends.SpecificallyforHalloween,youcaninviteyour friendsoverandcarvepumpkins.Beascreativeaspossible! Moreuniqueideasthoughcouldbelikebakingdessertsand decoratingtheminascaryway.Orwatchingascarymovieand makingalltheseactivitiesalittlecompetitivetomakeitexciting. Youcouldalsohaveablind-touchboxwhereyoustickyour handintoabucketandhavetoguesswhatitis,butHalloween edition.

StayinghealthyisessentialforKeyClubmembersto effectivelyserveandleadinourcommunities.Toprevent illness,practicinggoodhygieneiscrucial—frequent handwashingandusinghandsanitizercansignificantly reducethespreadofgerms.Stayinguptodatewith vaccinations,maintainingabalanceddietrichinfruitsand vegetables,drinkingplentyofwater,andgettingsufficient sleepareallvitalforbolsteringourimmunesystems. Regularexerciseandeffectivestressmanagementalso playimportantrolesinmaintainingoverallhealth.
Additionally,it’simportanttolimitclosecontactwiththose whoaresickandtokeepourenvironmentscleanby disinfectingfrequentlytouchedsurfaces.Byadoptingthese strategies,wecanprotectourselvesandthosearoundus, ensuringweremainhealthyandreadytocontributetoour KeyClubinitiatives.Let’scommittothesepracticesand makeapositiveimpactinourcommunities!

Lastmonth,inSeptember,Division30Southhadits largestDCMoftheyear:ColorFest.ADCM,oradistrict councilmeeting,isaneventinwhichallmembersfrom schoolsacrossthedivisiongettogethertodiscuss importantdivisionbusinessandbondthroughgames oractivities.ThebiggestDCM,isthecolorfest,which thisyearalsohadamarket.Theeventstartedoffwith goingoverdivisionbusinesssuchastheimpressive amountofkeyclubbersthatsignedupperschool.Then, thenightmarketcommenced,inwhicheachschool hadbroughtheirownitemtosell.Whitneyhadquitethe successfulsale,sellingalmostalloftheirpizookie’sout.
Themoneyearnedfromthisfundraiserwillgoto helpingoutwiththeclubanddonatingtothepediatric traumaprogram,aprogramdedicatedtoaddressthe numberonecauseofdeathinchildren,accordingto LTGDevinLee.
Afterthenightmarket,theDCMserviceactivityfor0.5 hourstookplace;paintingrockstogivetohospitalized children.Finally,whatgivesthecolorfestitsname,we playedgamesinvolvingthrowingcolorsatthe opponentsuchascapturetheflag,butwiththrowing colors.Overall,theeventwasverymemorable,andI highlyrecommendgoingtoDCM’snotonlytomeetthe KeyClubgraduationrequirements,butalsotoenjoyfun bondingeventsamongstpeopleacrossthedistrict.

Yes,youmaycombineservicehoursfrommultipleorganizationsas longastheyareverifiable(loggedprooffromtheclubthatyou actuallydidservethosehours)andthosehourswerewithina12monthperiod.Whenenteringintotheapplicationformfortheaward, youwillbeaskedtoputproofofservicefromtheorganizationsyou volunteeredin;inthiscase,youcanuploadaproofofservicefrom eachorganizationorclubyouwereinvolvedinandthehourswillbe combined. Howexactlydowesubmitourinformationfortheaward? 1. Greatquestion!Therewillbeaform(emailedlater)forthe PresidentialVolunteerServiceAward,andthiswillaskyouforvarious formsofpersonalinformation(name,birthdate,organizationsserved in,etc.),andalsowillhaveanareatouploadproofofservice.The timeneededtocontactyoubackifyougottheawardornotisafew weekstoamonth(dependingonthenumberofapplicantsona givenday)

HeySuns!Ihopeyou’rehavinganamazingday!As FallRallySouth(FRS)seasonstartsupagain,Spirit Nightsarecomingupaswell!SpiritNightsare sessionswhereKeyClubberslearncheerstocompete againstotherdivisionsatFallRallySouthin November!Gethyped,becauseourfirstSpiritNightof theyearisinthefirstweekofOctober.
Lastyear,wewereabletomakeittoroundthree(last round)whichwassuperexcitingbecauseintheyear beforethatwedidn’tmakeitthatfar.FRSwasdefinitely aneventforthebooks,andIhighlyencourageany underclassmentogotoFRSthisyear–IwishIdidwhen Iwasafreshman! Recently,ourPresidentreleasedDivisionT-shirtorders. TheseshirtsarerequiredtoattendFRSsothatweasa divisioncanlookasspiritedanduniformaspossible! Asyoumightreadintherestofthisnewsletter,FallRallySouthis oneofthemostimportanteventsofaKeyClubterm.It’sopento membersandnonmembers,andthisyear,youcanattendwitha discountedprice!Beingthelowestit’sbeen,youcanspendhoursat SixFlagsforlowerthanyoumighthavetopaynormally.
Divisionwideeventsliketheseallowyoutointeractwithmembers fromdifferentclubsfromdifferentschools,whichallowyoutomake newfriendswithinthedivision.
KeyClubalsooffersdifferentlarge-scaleevents:afterFallRally SouthisOperationChristmas!Byactingasahomeroom representative,youcanearnsomecommunityservicehourswhile spendingtimewithyourfellowmemberspackingfoodand donationsforfamilies.
LockinfollowsOperationChristmas,andentailsstayingatourvery owncampus,lockedinfortwelvehoursdoingserviceprojects. Again,it’safunwayofgettingtoknowyourfellowmembers,andit’s anespeciallygreatwayofgettinginvolvedinKeyClub.

What’spoppin’,KeyClubbers!!Inthismonth’sarticle,IwillBEE tellingyouaboutarecent,superspooky,localHalloweenthemedserviceevent,GonsalvesElementaryTrunkorTreat, thattookplaceonOctober25th.Atthisevent,kidscametoplay gamesrunbyvolunteers,getcandyfromthetrunksofmany parentsandstaffmembers,purchasefoodandbeverages,and more!
Therewerefourseparateshifts;Ivolunteeredforthreeofthem,and rangames,andhelpedcleanupaftertheeventwithotherWhitney KeyClubbers.Theyweresimpletasks,andwegottoseedozensof funlittleHalloweencostumesthatthekidswore!Weevenreceived anextrabobadrinkattheendingratitudefromthevolunteer coordinators.
Overall,Iwoulddefinitelyrecommendsigningupforeventslike these elementaryschoolfestivities becauseofhowdelightfuland uncomplicatedtheyare;itisagreatwaytoearnservicehours whilealsohelpingtomakeitamoreenjoyableexperienceforallthe attendees!
