JUNE 2024

My name is Ann Huang and I am beyond proud and honored to serve as Whitney Key Club’s President for the 2024-2025 term!

I am so excited about this term and all the great things we have planned, from Lock-In to Operation Christmas and Fall Rally South to Rose Float Decorating! I hope everyone is having a fun and relaxing summer break so far and is ready to keep on serving throughout the summer! Summer break is a great time to stay involved with Key Club and to continue serving your home, school, and community. Unlike other clubs, Key Club is a year-round club that offers so many amazing service events throughout the school year and summer. Whitney Key Club is still offering a bunch of volunteer opportunities so make sure to get those hours in! Also, make sure to come out to our division and region events to connect with Key Clubbers from other schools and make amazing memories this summer.
I would like to give a special shoutout to my board for being so enthusiastic and active these past few months! Let’s continue that so we can make this term the best yet!
Please keep reading and staying engaged with our monthly newsletters because our Bulletin Editor Aditi Bhattacharya works really hard to get this newsletter designed and published!
Have a great summer everyone and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns!

Managingtimeandstressin today'sworldcanbe overwhelming,butimplementing afewstrategiesmighthelp.
Begin by prioritizing tasks. Not everything is equally important. Some are urgent and need to be completed immediately, while others can be completed later. To stay organized, plan and schedule your tasks using a to-do list or digital programs such as Google Calendar. Procrastination, which is a common problem amongst many people, is caused by a task seeming too big or boring. To overcome it, understand why you're avoiding the task.
If it's too big, break it down into smaller easier tasks. Sometimes just getting started is the hardest part, so commit to working on a task for just five minutes.
Once you’ve begun, it may seem easier to get the task done. Stress is a natural response to the demands we face, and can be managed in many ways. Regular exercise, sufficient sleep, and healthy eating can play a crucial role in stress management. Taking breaks is also an important aspect in managing stress. This can help to refresh your mind and improve overall productivity. By incorporating these strategies into your daily routine, you can effectively manage your time, reduce stress, and achieve a healthier, more balanced life.
Hello suns! It is always a good idea to stay involved with Key Club, especially during the summer, and even as the school year begins. Aside from interest in getting involved with the inner workings of Key Club, and simply wanting to volunteer, staying involved means you can easily achieve graduation requirements! For more information on graduation requirements, check out the monthly emails of your hours from our secretary.
While school is in session, attending general meetings can not only gain you service hours, but it can also count towards your graduation requirements. Aside from this, our general meetings are a great way to stay involved by staying up to date with upcoming events for the month in addition to getting recaps on previous events.
On a division level, attending DCMs can also help you stay up to date with division level activities while counting towards your graduation requirements. Typically, Key clubbers from our division, D30S, come together and report on each individual school’s work for the month while fundraisers and volunteer activities go on.
Though it might be difficult to stay involved currently, since it’s summer, whenever you’re bored, signing up for an ongoing in-person volunteering event is also a great idea that can count towards your hours. If you don’t have time to attend in-person events either, joining online events is a popular way to stay involved, since almost all the events offered online are easy to do! I highly recommend doing online events whenever you can, since it’s one of the best ways to gain hours. Check out the emails from our directors of activities for more information!
I hope that many of you will continue to stay involved with the club through the ways documented above, and that the club will continue to grow and prosper through your efforts!
WHAT’S POPPING, sunnies!?! Welcome to our first newsletter of the new term! My name is Sophie Ly, and I am proud to serve as your Spirit Chair for the ‘24 - ‘25 Key Club term as a returning cabinet member. In this article, I will be discussing an incredibly entertaining in-person service event called Flavors of Cerritos. This was a cultural food festival that took place at Cerritos Elementary School on May 10th from 5 PM8 PM, although volunteers could sign up for shifts starting at 3:45 PM and/or ending at 8:30 PM.
Volunteers were assigned to manage the multiple different kids’ game booths, exchanging tickets for stamps. I was the only volunteer who was asked to work the prize booth, in which I exchanged stamps for a wide variety of prizes varying in value. My friend and I were the only two volunteers from Key Club, likely because the event was during AP season and many high schoolers were busy studying; we both worked for both of the two available shifts for this event.
My personal favorite part about volunteering for these types of events is that they always provide volunteers with food; the volunteer coordinator gave me and my friend five free food tickets each, and we were also given leftovers after the event ended. All of the foods that we tried, ranging from savory snacks to sweet treats, were so delicious, and all the adults running the food booths were so kind! Additionally, I appreciated how we were given the freedom to take a break to go grab food or water whenever we wanted to, and the volunteer coordinator was very chill and generous as always!

That about wraps up my summary and comments about the Flavors of Cerritos event! I hope you all try to come out to more service events, as many of them are truly such a blast! Thank you for reading, and keep shining every day!
