In a collection filled with his famous cast of characters, Simeon Stafford celebrates the joy of snow, from the thrill of winter flurries in English towns and villages, to the busy streets of London and the lively Alpine slopes. Wrapped up warm in their winter brights, kids sled, squeal and snowball fight, embracing the childhood fun and wonder of those longed-for snow days. Look carefully and you might see Ruby the girl with pigtails in bright red boots, and Trixie the Jack Russell in a snowy landscape where play is the order of the day.

In the city, winter transforms the streets as walkers watch snowflakes dissolve into the cold grey waters of the Thames, while in the mountains, crowds of skiers curve and carve their way to the next sunny lunch spot.

In his witty and nostalgic style, Simeon captures the simple pleasure of time spent in the snow, and reminds us of mankind’s (and penguinkind’s) endless capacity for playfulness and joy. Simeon Stafford was born in Manchester in 1956. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy, and his work is held in numerous private and public collections, including that of Queen Elizabeth II.
