From Padstow to the Rumps

With a focus on the spectacular coastline of North Cornwall, these new paintings capture the beauty of views from the famous South West Coast Path. The collection begins in Padstow, taking the ferry across to Rock and walking the coast path north eastward, via St Enodoc church and its views of the Camel estuary, eventually concluding in Lundy Bay. John works with a vivid palette of ocean blues and brings the gold and silver of Cornwall’s ever-changing light, and the textures of coastal gorse and grasses, into his paintings through a rich pattern of brush work.

John Brenton was born in Cornwall in 1964. Over more than two decades he has made his name as a respected ‘plein air’ painter of landscapes from the coast of Cornwall to the lochs of Scotland. His work has been selected for exhibition at the Royal Academy Summer Show, the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Society of Oil Painters. He has held solo exhibitions throughout the UK and his paintings are held in private collections in the UK and internationally.
