BY-LAWS OF THE SCORTON SHORES ASSOCIATION, INC.
Article 1 (Name): 1. The name of the organization shall be The Scorton Shores Association, Inc. (the Association). 2. The Association may, at its pleasure, by a majority of its membership, change its name. Article 2 (Purposes): As stated in the Articles of Organization and approved by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the primary purpose of the Association is "The preservation, improvement and general upkeep of the area generally known as Scorton Shores, in the Town of Sandwich, Massachusetts." Other purposes are also defined in the Articles of Organization. Article 3 (Membership): All property owners in the general area known as Scorton Shores shall be eligible for membership in the Association. This includes all properties along Hammond Road from Route 6A to Cape Cod Bay and all intersecting streets, Captain Teach Road, Captain Towne Road, Captain Kidd Road, Captain Morgan Road, Captain Greaves Road, Captain Hook Road, Captain Crocker Road, Captain Cole Road, Captain Wing Road and Captain Paine Road. The Riverview School, Located on Route 6A, and abutting Hammond Road shall also be eligible for membership. A member of the Association is defined as an eligible member who is current in all financial obligations (maintenance fees, special assessments, etc.) to the Association. Article 4 (Meetings): The annual membership meeting of this Association shall be between June 1 and June 30 as fixed annually by the Board of Directors. The Secretary shall cause to be mailed to every member at his/her address as it appears in the membership roll of this Association, a notice telling the time and place of such annual meeting. In addition, notice shall be posted in a minimum of two locations within the boundaries of the Association. The presence of the membership representing not less than twenty-five percent (25%) of the properties of the Scorton Shores shall constitute a quorum and shall be necessary
