RE-PURPOSING: This means taking an item and giving it a new or different purpose. With clothes this means that instead of throwing an item away because it is worn, out of fashion or simply out of favor, they are turned into something desirable and useful

As known and told by history itself, undergarments are to be worn beneath your clothing. They are hidden away and kept secret. This collection emphasises on aspects from undergarments from all walks of life, throughout history and particularly from the late 1800’s. What were once, hidden pieces, are translated into a modernised, futuristic and innovative collection that pays ode to its This piece collection includes soft, sheer silks and frills, contrasted with sturdy, sharped edged materials and shapes. The pieces include a modernised version of hook and eyes, in which each piece is hand made from recycled metals. Majority of the lace is also ‘up-cycled’ from old wedding dresses. DEVELOPMENT

The process of perfecting each garment and accessory has been long, however, it is the small details such as colour, texture and overall fit that create the uniqueness of this look.

As depicted, development included the use of hot glue and a variety of spray paint for each safety pin, as well as meters of cable feeder and zipties to create a cage like petticoat. Recycled shirts and wedding dresses were also deconstructed and then used to create the layered skirt. A long process that included seam-ripping each shirt and then sewing each piece together to create a ‘fabric’.
