Chrisitan Dior was a French fashion designer born in Normandy on the 21st of January 1905. Before Dior’s renowned “New Look” was debuted, the artistically inclined Christian Dior, actually started out selling his own drawings on the streets of Paris to make pocket money before even contemplating design. Our new brand ambassador breathes the same creativity into their work as Dior once did, her drawings and artworks are her self-expression. Denim has always been associated with the idea of activism and freedom, specifically in America from the 1960’s onwards jeans have stood as a political symbol of revolution. Universally jeans were unisex and adrogynous, and inclusive. Jeans have become part of protest culture today still standing as a symbol for freedom as seen through the Black Lives Matter Protests, Transgender rights protests and My body my choice protests. This is why a denim collaboration was perfect for Hunter Schafer and Dior.

Hunter Schafer is an American model, actress and transgender rights acivist. She was born December 31st 1998 in New Jersey. She has rose to fame in the last few years after making her acting debut on the new hit HBO show ‘Euphoria’. She plays the character Jules, a 17 year old transgender girl. Prior to her acting debut, she modelled and walked runways for Dior as well as other designer brands. Hunter Schafer organised and participated in marches, protests and bills for some of the most important and biggest campaign H S R C A regarding transgender rights TE a trans-gender youth. These campaigns have been the centre of Hunter’s life for the past 10 years. She continues to support these movements with her own campaign “Trans Youth Persist”.

Dior has teamed up with Hunter Schafer to bring 2022 a much needed denim refresh. Along with Hunter, Dior plans on restoring the connection between denim and couture, with this denim capsule collection.

Maria Grazia Chiuri has proven through her past 5 years at Dior that she is a womens rights activist and continues to promote this activism in her runway shows. Our new brand ambassador, Hunter Scahfer blends well with the Dior brand and Maria Grazia Chiuri’s vision for Dior as they both have a fiery passion for activism and human rights. Maria Grazia’s 2020 runway included the phrase “we should all be feminists” as the runway was decorated with connotations of sexism and mysogyny in the workplace. This promotion of womens rights falls perfectly into the lap of Hunter Schafer, as her activism has lead her to the path of human rights. Apart GRAZIA from the activism the two CH share a similar style of bold and IU bright colours, pattern mixing and matching and a strong pull towards androgynous fashion.

The brand elements of Dior, also known as the ‘Lucky Charms’ have become part of the brands history. Christian Dior was known to have been a very superstitious man, he often visited spiritual readers and clairvoyants, and carried charms around that were deemed ‘lucky’.
