ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Isabella Tighello is the lead designer and founder of Studio Tighello. Graduating at the age of 20 with a bachelor of design — specialising in interior design. With experience in marketing and social media account management, Isabella has a unique perspective and much experience based around running a small business. Within her passion for architecture and interiors, Tighello has begun to design within a sustainable manner focusing on rich materiality and textures as well as timeless design.
Studio Tighello aims to incorperate her design blueprint into this project as her DNA is a huge part of how she has been raised and ultimately who she has become. Key aspects like family, food and artisinal goods have been prevalent throughout Isabella’s life, so this project and it’s design show the love and appreciation for her cultures and especially her Nonna and Yiayia (grandmothers).

THE CLIENT. In 2017, Dom turned a run down milk bar into a neighbourhood sandwich shop that would quickly gain cult status. His desire to connect with people, and for those people to connect with each other, over simple, relatable food is where his concept stemmed from. CONCEPT. 270 Londsdale Street will be a sophisticated mediterranean retail and hospitality experience, catering for the average italian-australian as well as any individuals who mangia bene. Complete with retail of artisanal imported goods, a cafe & bakery, boutique cinema, restaurant and rooftop bar the considered and curated space will provide an array of hospitable experiences with both Greek & Italian flair. In collaboration with client Dom Wilton and Studio Tighello’s blueprint as a designer; the 5 levels will represent the mediterranean flowing from Italian to Greek themes on each level. Through Art deco influence and elements of Mid-century modern design Felices comes to life.

THE SITE.

existing approved development at site contains restaurant/food & drink uses which do not require a planning mit. As such, these uses and their acity are not regulated by the Melbourne ning Scheme or City of Melbourne.
Restaurant and Café licence No. 32341478 includes the ground and first floors of the Site, permitting a total of 114 patrons at the ground floor and 89 patrons at the first floor (total 203). This licence allows operation until 3am. This licence is currently pending approval to be varied to an on-premises licence to align with the proposed bar use. Restaurant and Café licence No. 32341452 includes the second and third floors of the site, permitting a total of 122 patrons at the second floor and 58 patrons at the third floor. This licence allows operation until 3am Restaurant and Café licence No. 32341460 includes the rooftop floor of the Site, permitting a total of 125 patrons. This licence allows operation until 1am. This licence is currently pending approval to be varied to an on-premises licence to align with the proposed bar use.

LOCALI BY LOOPCREATIVE
MANGIA, BEVI E SII FELICE EAT, DRINK & BE HAPPY Locali by Romeo’s is located on George St Sydney as a refined European inspired grocer and eatery. The Mediterranean influenced space involves an artisanal bakery, espresso cafe, pizzeria and dedicated cheese room opposite a central deli counter, with seated areas for casual dining adjacent to each hospitality offering. The use of Italian words within each area of the design such as “Fiori” for the florist and “Cucina” for the cafe; pays homage to the Italian influence and design style. This concept is something I would like to reflect within my own design for Felices.

The contrasting green and red colour palette reflects that of Italian culture through the colours of the flag and the use of tonal variation within the palette creates an overall sophisticated and modern feel. While the palette I have chosen for Felices design has pops of muted greens and clay tones, Locali’s design focuses heavily on the use of contrast between light and dark finishes. The cylindrical columns and curved features add to the roman aesthetic and will be a feature within Felices design in a similar way. Lastly, the constant repetition seen through the curved bar and organic furniture is another feature that reflects mediterranean aesthetics and will be seen in the retail and rooftop bar of Felices.
TIVOLI CINEMA BY RUN FOR THE HILLS
TIVOLI CINEMA - BATH, UK CINEMA, CAFE, BAR
Located in Bath, United Kingdom; Tivoli is a luxury new branch of boutique cinemas, a fantastic screening venue that is also a high-end social and dining destination. Designed by Run For The Hills — not did they complete the interiors but also the brand identity of Tivoli as a whole. With a main cinema as well as a cosy, exclusive twelve-seater Director’s Lounge they’re designed in a sleek and sophisticated manner. The Directors Lounge has its own dedicated foyer and entrance with a private adjoining hospitality lounge featuring high end seating and an in-screen bar. Cinema Coppe will have a similar layout as it will only seat up to 35 people and have an in screen bar/candy station. Through the use of deep plum and golden tones, Tivoli is brought to life and expresses an old Hollywood glamour theme. The use of ornate fabrics and textural materials is something I am interested in using with Cinema Coppe also.
The geometric patterns and contrasting black and white tones can be seen featured in many tiles and carpet choices, similarly the bespoke chairs designed for Cinema Coppe will have a small geometric pattern and style that references the 50’s. The mix between small and large profile tile, is something I am very interested in creating through my own design. As seen in the bar area the use of line creates a sense of repetition and draws the eye to the focal point of the five stools. Lastly, the use of warm toned lighting enhances the cosiness and overall vibe of the cinema space. I aim to create this through using lighting by Apparatus with warm hues and apply this to the walls and floor.

FELICES RETAIL GROUND FLOOR
Felice’s is located on the ground floor and is the retail aspect of the building.With a focus on selling imported Italian goods for the average Italian-Australian as well as all people who mangia bene, ridi spesso, ama molto (eat well, laugh often, love much). Through the muted green colour palette and hints of tarnished brass the mediterranean way of life comes to fruition.

Arthur’s is a grecian bakery and cafe located on level one of Felices. The intimate and bright cafe space will be open during the day for those who need a quick pastry and coffee after shopping at Felice’s downstairs. With green and blue hues, Arthurs is a place where thoughtful cooking & culture combine. Through timeless values, relaxed service & understated style, we welcome you to Arthur’s.

Stella is an Italian eatery located (270 Lonsdale Street). Through materials the design is aimed to as if you’re at a Nonnas home
on level three of Felices the use of warm tone create comfort and feel on a sunday afternoon.
With fresh pasta bars and a selection of wines to match, Stella’s is the CBD’s newest and best spot for all things pasta. Combining the Italian love of family, exquisite taste and beautiful spaces we welcome you to Stella.

Cinema Coppe reflects Italian culture through its reference to infamous Italian card game ‘Briscola’. Through incorporating both the green, gold and red tones into the cinema itself these colours are not only drawn from the Italian flag but the Briscola cards themselves also.

The grecian inspired rooftop bar will be Melbournes best spring and summer time bar. With hints of blues and greens the Mediterranean oaasis will be located in the heart of the CBD. My greek side has always led me to amazing food and great connections to both friends and family; this is what should be felt upon entry to the Eos Bar.
