The MILEY CYRUS x dIOR cOLLABORATION Miley Cyrus grew up in a small town in Tennesse U.S.A she had a quick rise to stardom due to her early success on the hit T.V. series Hannah
Montana. She stayed with Disney for many years, until she got older and
decided to breakout of her younger
self, and blossom into a the person she is today. Famous for twerking
on Robin Thicke at the MTV awards, no scandal could stop Miley Cyrus’s rise to ultimate stardom. Miley has
broken out into the music industry
on her own, cutting ties with her T.V persona,
Hannah
Montana,
and
breaking out as Miley cyrus, which was the title of her first debut album. More recently Miley Cyrus has graced us with the pop punk album Plastic
Hearts, a spin on 80’s rock, featruing
a cover from Blondies Heart of Glass, that broke records. Miley Cyrus is an extraordinary human and this is why
we have decided to partner with her for this collaboration.

A word from maria. Maria Grazia Chiuri is an Italian fashion designer who worked for many years at Fendi and Valentino before being named creative director at Dior in September 2016. Maria Grazia Chiuri’s creative vision for the house is using Dior’s house history and aligning those values with her own political views. These political views are being reflected in her collections with Dior, most notably her collection in September 2016, which included the infamous graphic tee “We should all be feminists” inspired by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s essay and TEDx talk of the same name. MGC’s creative vision for Dior is all about female empowerment, and using femininity in a contemporary way.
“Fashion used to only impose a point of view,
now it has to be a dialogue,” she explains. MGC approaches fashion like anthropology which is an interesting and inspiring way that MGC leading the house of Dior.

DENIM AT DIOR Galliano brought denim into Dior in the 90s. Galliano wanted to use denim in a post modern way, not for its purpose, he strew away from workwear denim. Denim is seen as both luxe and as both workwear, everyday wear so it was up to Dior to communicate the luxuriousness that denim can be. This is shown in the highly elevated and luxe denim pieces from the 90’s and early 2000’s from Galliano such as the denim saddle bag. Kim Jones we can see him taking a contemporary spin on the classic workwear denim still classic but also luxe in the way it is advertised and shown to the market.
