Minx
interrogates historical misrepresentations of feminine rebellion, challenging reductive narratives surrounding women who embody both softness and defiance. This graduate collection examines the multifaceted identity of the contemporary woman whimsical yet strategic, flirtatious yet self-possessed who exists beyond societal categorisation
The design journey began with researching archetypes of feminine rebellion across cultural history, translating these findings into garments through deliberate contradictions Bold silhouettes juxtapose against delicate drape and pattern construction, while an earthy-meets-vibrant purple, brown and blue colour palette creates visual tension Traditional menswear elements are deconstructed and repurposed through the use of recycled suit wadding and interfacing that are warped and dyed to be used as the outside fabric rather inside. This looks shares components in the womenswear version such as the crossover pants and textured interfacing, creating subverted gendered dress codes.
The hero dress anchors the collection with its silhouette, inspired from clothes hangers Constructed from draped print dyed silk juxtaposed against structured boiled wool and silk felted texture The garment's form follows the angular lines of a clothes hanger, with a bubble shaped collar, creating a deliberate contradiction between the softness of feminine draping and the stark geometry of industrial functionality
Each garment emphasises abstract construction techniques asymmetric draping, exaggerated proportions, and unexpected fabric pairings such as silk and wool, softened through intricate detailing: hand sewn embellishments such as the silk and wool felted circle neck piece on the hero, look 3 and hand sewn dyed wadding window on look 2. Each piece balances opposing forces, mirroring the collection's central thesis: that feminine complexity cannot be distilled into singular definitions.

"Feminine rebellion isn't opposition to softness it's the refusal to be singular. MINX embodies contradiction: whimsy and strategy, drape and structure, reclaiming complexity as femininity's most authentic power. "
