LINO LAKES — The city of Lino Lakes will look to make changes within the Public Safety Department after Citygate Associates provided its final recommendations to the City Council. “You do have the capable, caring, committed work force,” said Stewart Gary, a public safety principal at Citygate. “However, the cross-trained public safety model could not be maintained, and we believe it is no longer viable.” SEE SAFETY DEPARTMENT, PAGE 2

As high school seniors gear up for graduation, they must overcome a few last-minute obstacles. These obstacles are the final exams for general classes as well as the ACTs, which will help determine their entry into a particular college. Over the years, however, school districts have faced some difficulties in teaching students at both high school and lower grade levels, partially due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “COVID has impacted our students, and we expect to see the impact of COVID throughout a child’s educational journey,” said Alice Seuffert, director of communications at Mahtomedi High School. “There are a multitude of factors from COVID we see, like absenteeism in particular at our high school. In Mahtomedi, we focus on continuous improvement as measured by MCAs and other local assessments.”
