We are Rooted in Fun!
Welcome to Wheat Ridge Parks & Recreation
For over 50 years, Wheat Ridge Parks and Recreation has been providing programs, experiences, and spaces that enhance the lives of people in our community. Kids have grown up playing in our parks and swimming at our pools, seniors have taken up new hobbies and explored Colorado on our trips, couples have tied the knot at our facilities, and countless people have incorporated our fitness classes into their daily routines.
We love sharing these special moments with you, which is why we take fun seriously. We are committed to offering quality programs and events for you and your family to connect with people, parks and play in Wheat Ridge.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to serving our community by providing diverse programs, experiences and spaces that enhance quality of life.
Our Vision
To be the first choice and trusted source for connecting with nature, living healthy and having fun.

Tabor Lake Trail and Water Quality Improvement Projects

The Tabor Lake Trail and Water Quality Improvement projects are nearing completion, with the trail portion now finished and the overall project expected to be completed in August. In addition to trail enhancements, new lake aerators have been installed to help improve water quality and support a healthier aquatic environment. This project was made possible through significant funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (through Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the National Park Service) and Jefferson County Parks and Open Space with Open Space sales tax proceeds, along with initial design support from the Colorado School of Mines.

NEW! Healing Touch
Relax, Restore, Rebalance
Experience a gentle, non-invasive Healing Touch wellness session designed to help you relax, reduce stress, and feel more balanced. Healing Touch is a calming, hands-on (or hands-near) technique that supports your body’s natural ability to heal and restore itself.
Healing Touch is often used by certified practitioners to manage symptoms during cancer care, post-surgery and recovery, and to help those managing chronic pain. Healing Touch is also perfect for anyone looking to unwind, improve their sense of balance, and support their overall wellness.
Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction, relaxation, and energetic balance. This gentle practice supports the body’s natural healing processes through light, non-invasive touch and focused energy awareness. Offered fully clothed, Reiki helps calm the nervous system, release tension, and restore a sense of inner peace. Sessions are intuitive and supportive, providing space to reconnect with the body and promote overall well-being.
Healing Touch Therapist: Shirley Ramey
Ms. Ramey brings over 25 years of experience as a licensed nurse in Hawaii and California, along with a passion for helping others feel their best—both physically and emotionally. A graduate of MiraCosta College in San Diego, she blends her strong healthcare background with a holistic approach to wellness.
Ms. Ramey is dedicated to creating a welcoming and supportive environment where participants can relax, reconnect, and focus on their personal wellness goals. Her approach is compassionate, inclusive, and centered on helping each individual feel comfortable and cared for throughout their experience.
Reiki Therapist: Sheri Anstedt
Sheri is a certified reiki master teacher and lightbody graduate who began her journey in 1999. Her initial experience with reiki was electrifying and powerful, and revealed her ability to help others. Sheri practices the Usui Shiki Ryoho system of natural reiki healing and relies on her intuition to guide each session. Each person is unique, as is each session. Introduction to American Canasta
Canasta, played like Rummy, is often a nostalgic game for seniors, easy to learn, and it encourages strategic thinking. Many people find Canasta easier than Bridge, so it might be a good starting point for seniors who have less experience with card games. Unlike Bridge, enough of the game can be learned in 20 minutes for beginners to play confidently at their first sitting. The cards themselves become instrument of enchantment, waving a spell of mental agility and strategic thinking. With every meld and discard, players engage their cognitive faculties, sharpening their minds like a wizard’s wand. Purchase a $45 Res & $50 for Non-Res (10-Swipe Enrichment Pass). Randall Park Neighborhood Farm Update
Exciting progress continues at the Randall Park Neighborhood Farm as the project moves closer to becoming a vibrant community gathering space focused on sustainable food production and education. This spring, several important site improvements have been completed or are currently underway to make the farm more welcoming and accessible for everyone.
Construction has moved forward on a universally accessible entrance pathway, along with a concrete pad for the ADA-accessible porta-potty. Installation of the entryway improvements is nearly complete, and the farm’s new sign will soon be in place to welcome visitors. Our Garden Coordinator, Krystyn “Yy” Dennis, has also been working alongside a student design team from the University of Colorado’s Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design program to develop the farm’s overall site design. Community members had the opportunity to review the proposed concepts and provide valuable feedback through a public design session and online survey. Thank you to everyone who participated and shared ideas! Community input has been provided to the design team, and the final design is expected soon.
Adding to the project’s momentum, Jefferson County Public Health awarded the Randall Park Neighborhood Farm a $16,313 Climate Action Plan Food Resilience Grant. The funding will support the continued transformation of the vacant property into a thriving community food production space. Grant funds will be used to install an innovative on-site aerated static pile composting system, and purchase biology monitoring equipment, This grand will help us focus on soil health, and provide educational workshops on “Do it Yourself” practices that promote ‘Living Soil’ to community members. This exciting investment, is made possible through Jefferson County Public Health and the Community First Foundation, and reflects the growing commitment to creating resilient local food systems, expanding environmental education opportunities, and building a healthier, more connected community.
The Randall Park Neighborhood Farm continues to grow thanks to the support of residents, community partners, and grant funding. Stay tuned for additional updates as the final design is unveiled and new features come to life at www. whatsupwheatridge.com/randall-park-farm.

Keep Anderson Afloat
Keep Anderson Afloat - Designing A Replacement For Our Outdoor Pool
In 2025, the initial planning round of public engagement for the replacement of Anderson Pool was completed. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback through the survey, sharing your story, talking to staff at tabling events, attending presentations, and more!
As of June 2026, as part of a competitive procurement process, staff are interviewing finalist firms for the design phase of the project. A contract award, along with the design work beginning, is expected in July 2026. Design work is expected to take 12-16 months, into summer/fall 2027.
Next steps in the project:
• Completing the design of the replacement pool
• Funding the construction phase in a future budget year, based on the project design and construction estimates
• Selecting a construction firm
• Demoing the existing pool
• Building the replacement pool
Please visit whatsupwheatridge.com/anderson-pool to learn more about opportunities to provide feedback on the design options and for project updates.
