In 2019 the Scottish parliament passed into legislation a new Planning (Scotland) Act which introduces a wide range of reforms to Scotland’s planning system. Included in these changes is the opportunity for communities in Scotland to develop ‘Local Place Plans’.
Wester Hailes is one of the first communities in Scotland to develop its own Local Place Plan. In particular, the Wester Hailes Local Place Plan
takes advantage of local knowledge enabling the community to prepare a plan which reflects the aspirations of people who live and work in Wester
Hailes in order to:-
• Make Wester Hailes a better place to live, work and visit
• Inluence decision making on planning and investment in Wester Hailes
• Involve young people and all generations to have a say
