Design spaces with the handcrafted warmth and natural beauty of Graber custom wood shutters. Customization options give you the power to tweak even the smallest details for the utmost light control and privacy. Responsibly harvested from sustainably managed North American forests, Graber Shutters are kiln-dried and molded with care in our Grayling, Michigan, workshop. Each shutter’s wood grain, knots and burls are unique—a reflection of the tree’s growth and life cycle. These markings share a story that can only be told by natural wood.

Creating wood shutters requires special dedication. We begin by sourcing premium-quality basswood from sustainably managed North American forests. Next, each piece of wood is individually inspected to ensure we only use wood that meets our exact standards. Using a three-step process, our experts mill, sand and paint or stain the wood to complement its unique beauty.

The result is wood shutters that create an ambience of deep warmth and compelling character.

The Graber team would like to congratulate designer Maria Bortugno (B Designs Interiors) for winning the Grace Award in the Top Treatment category using our wood shutters.

A Vision in Curves

DawneParis, ofInteriorsby Between the Seams, brings custom elegance to a challenging turreted office using Helser Brothers Hardware

When designer Dawne Paris stepped into stepped into the client’s home, the office instantly stood out: a 260-inch curved wall of windows crowned by a 16foot turret. It was bold. Dramatic. And it called for something extraordinary.

To bring that vision to life, she partnered with Helser Brothers, manufacturers of custom drapery hardware, selecting a custom 1¼” hollow round bowed rod, adjustable vertical strap brackets, and low-profile end-caps from the Artigiani collection, all finished in all finished in French Quarter, one of Helser Brothers’ luxurious hand-painted finishes. Small rings completed the subdued luxury look.

“The Helser team was incredible,” Dawne says. “They crafted a custom solution that fit a very narrow installation margin and guided me every step of the way.”

“The goal,” Dawne shared, “was to design a treatment that felt feminine, elegant, and completely custom—a true focal point that framed the view and celebrated the architecture.”

Every detail was intentional. She selected fabrics that balanced tradition with personality: Taylor King’s Lily Pad nude, Kravet #4838-106 for the flared skirt and Caravela Verbena trim by Fabricut. Her trusted installer, Mark Thurin, and the precise measurements and experience at SSR Windows, Dawne’s go-to workroom, helped bring her design to life. Inspired by the room’s curved architecture and natural surroundings, the finished design brought the outdoors in with subtle flair.

The project earned Dawne first place in Specialty Treatments at the Grace Awards, a recognition she describes as both “surreal and deeply personal.”

“This wasn’t just about fabric or hardware,” she reflected. “It was about transforming a challenging space into something refined, elegant and inspiring. That’s the beauty of specialty design—it means taking on what others hesitate to touch and creating something unforgettable.” helserbrothers.com

A&I Manufacturing was brought in to handle the window coverings for the Skyglass project with limited time for prototypes. Installation began in June 2023 and finished in February 2024. To address inaccuracies in the window openings, custom laser-cut shims were designed to keep the shades parallel with the angled windows. SOFTSHADES

This project combines classic design with creative solutions. The designer requested a relaxed roman shade with a continuous loop system for a tall window, facing challenges with deep molding and reverse mounting. A curved self-valance was added to mirror the shade’sshape.

Thevalancewasmountedona3½-inchboard with 2-inch returns, and the shade was reverse-mounted onto it. Both were lined and interlined, with blackout lining in the valance to prevent shadowing. The embroidered tree patterns were perfectly matched, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship.
