NEW GARDENS
Dear Members,
Welcome to the following new training gardens:
Autumn is definitely here and I’ve finally stopped dead heading the Cosmos. The Dahlias have flowered for weeks and are still hanging on, where they’ve managed to escape the huge colonies of slugs! No sign of frost for a week or two. I was really privileged to take part in a visit to Rosemary Alexander’s garden in September. Rosemary, the founder of The English Gardening School, is renown as one of our most influential designers and she has created a stunning garden in a truly beautiful setting! These visits are a real opportunity to get behind the scenes and understand a garden, and their creator and to my mind, one of the great benefits of being a member of the WFGA. I do hope that you manage to join us on one of our up and coming events! As this newsletter goes to press, I shall be interviewing Sheila Das about her journey to become Head of Edibles at RHS Wisley, and shortly, Head of Parks and Gardens for the National Trust. This is the second event this year offered free of charge to WRAGs trainees, with more planned to support those retaining in horticulture. Keep an eye on the website for details.
