s you find yourself spending more time outdoors this summer, West Florida Electric Cooperative (WFEC) reminds you to exercise caution near electrical equipment maintained by the co-op. Substations and power lines carry extremely high voltages, and if contact is accidentally made, the results can be dangerous––or even deadly. Never climb trees near power lines. If you make contact with a tree that is touching a power line, your body could become the path of electricity from the line to the ground. If you encounter an animal trapped in a tree near power lines or inside a substation, do not attempt to remove it––no matter how furry and cute! Call WFEC or 911 for assistance. These days, we are seeing more remote-controlled toys, like drones and airplanes, which can be a great way to have fun outdoors. But these gadgets also bring new safety concerns. Hwy. 90, Bonifay Rocket stoves are an efficient and alternative cooking method that can be used in emergency, disaster, and camping situations. The design of the rocket stove allows it to operate on about half as much fuel as a traditional open fire, and it can use smaller-diameter wood. Florida is a Closed Primary State, which means if you wish to vote in a partisan primary election, you must be a registered voter in the party for which the primary is being held. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a mini food processor, pulse 2 tablespoons sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, the rolled oats, cinnamon and salt for one second. Add butter; process until just crumbly (2-3 seconds). Cut peaches into 1/2 inch thick slices. Place in bowl and gently toss with remaining two tablespoons of sugar and remaining 2 teaspoons of flour. Divide peaches among 4 (4 oz.) ramekins. Sprinkle top with crumb mixture. Place ramekins on foil-lined baking pan. Bake until tops are light golden and fruit is juicy and bubbly - about 35 to 40 minutes. If no mini processor, mix flour, sugar, oats, cinnamon and salt in a medium bowl, cut in butter with pastry blender or with two knives until crumbly. Serves 4.
