Culbreth Named Employee of the Year
Rocket Stove Class - Chipley Tuesday, January 19; 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Washington County Ag Center, 1424 Jackson Ave., Chipley Rocket stoves are an efficient and alternative cooking method that can be used in emergency, disaster, and camping situations. The design of the rocket stove allows it to operate on about half as much fuel as a traditional open fire, and it can use smaller-diameter wood. We’ll demonstrate how to make a rocket stove, share tips on safely using rocket stoves, and even prepare a dish you can sample. Registration fee is $5 and includes class materials. Space is limited.
errell Culbreth, a journeyman line worker in the Graceville district was named 2015 West Florida Electric Cooperative Employee of the Year by his peers in December 2015. Culbreth was chosen to receive this award by his co-workers because he best exemplifies the following traits: personality, punctuality, safety habits, team work, flexibility and outstanding performance on the job. As a journeyman line worker, Culbreth works on a construction and maintenance crew that maintains the cooperative’s distribution system. His duties include building new electric services, performing work and maintenance on the cooperative’s power lines, troubleshooting and working on energized power lines, when needed. 82932001 Culbreth started his career at WFEC in January 2003 as an apprentice lineman. He and his wife, Kacie, have been married for 12 years and have four sons: Cade, 10; Caleb, 7; Kamdyn, 4 and Karstyn, 19 months. In his spare time, Culbreth enjoys spending time with his family, watching his sons play sports and working out. Josh Rabon from the Sneads district, Anthony Register from the Bonifay district and Candace Croft from the Graceville district were each honored with Outstanding Service Awards. These employees were chosen to receive these awards because they best exemplify the following traits: personality, punctuality, safety habits, team work, flexibility and performance on the job. Dalton Pettis was also recognized as the WFEC Contract Employee of the Year.

George Keegans’ family thanks the many friends who tirelessly inquired with concerns, caring, questions & prayers, during this most difficult time of what was to have been three days in a hospital but turned into two months when it was determined he’d contracted an infectious disease while there. George was a fighter, but ultimately gave up the fight on the afternoon of Veterans’ Day, and passed over to be with Our Lord. His strength, determination, brightness, high intelligence quotient, auto/electrical/mechanical genius, love for muscle cars i.e. 1970 Dodge Challenger (owned many), also Generation One Mustangs, and many 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air autos, were just some of the things he was known for. Thanks again, folks. A brother, gone too soon, at age 61.

eat pumps are energy-efficient systems that work well in Florida’s climate, but a heat pump’s emergency heat or auxiliary heat setting can increase costs if you don’t understand it. It’s essentially back-up heat (expensive electric strips that activate when outside air stays very cold, or when you raise the temperature on your thermostat too quickly). For most heat pumps, the back-up heat source is electric resistance (strip) heat. When the pump can no longer pull enough heat from outside to meet the heating load of the house, the electric resistance heat comes on and supplements the heat pump. “Your thermostat should be raised in one degree increments. Raising the temperature by several degrees at one time will call for the heat strips to come on,” said Derek Chadwell, WFEC Energy Services. So when, if ever, should you use the emergency heat setting on your thermostat? The short answer is that you should only set your thermostat to emergency heat when your heat pump stops working completely or another emergency situation. You should also call a professional HVAC contractor for help. Otherwise, just keep your thermostat set on heat. When you turn your thermostat to emergency heat, your heat pump stops trying to extract heat from outside to heat your home inside. Instead, it only uses the back-up heat strips for heating. This basically makes your heat pump into an electric furnace. 75183002 Your heat pump may run longer when it gets really cold outside, but that’s okay compared to how much money you’d be spending to use heat strips. eat pumps are energy-efficient systems that work well in Florida’s climate, but a heat pump’s emergency heat or auxiliary heat setting can increase costs if you don’t understand it. It’s essentially back-up heat (expensive electric strips that activate when outside air stays very cold, or when you raise the temperature on your thermostat too quickly). For most heat pumps, the back-up heat source is electric resistance (strip) heat. When the pump can no longer pull enough heat from outside to meet the heating load of the house, the electric resistance heat comes on and supplements the heat pump. “Your thermostat should be raised in one degree increments. Raising the temperature by several degrees at one time will call for the heat strips to come on,” said Derek Chadwell, WFEC Energy Services. So when, if ever, should you use the emergency heat setting on your thermostat? The short answer is that you should only set your thermostat to emergency heat when your heat pump stops working completely or another emergency situation. You should also call a professional HVAC contractor for help. Otherwise, just keep your thermostat set on heat. When you turn your thermostat to emergency heat, your heat pump stops trying to extract heat from outside to heat your home inside. Instead, it only uses the back-up heat strips for heating. Sausage Making, Meat Curing & Smoking Class - Chipley Thursday, January 14; 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Sand Hill Baptist Church, 6758 Hwy. 77, Chipley This class provides a hands-on opportunity to learn the basics of sausage making, meat curing, and smoking. We’ll demonstrate the entire process - what types and cuts of meats to choose, selecting your spices, food safety and proper handling of raw meats, how to properly stuff your sausages, different curing methods, and the various woods used in smoking. We’ll also include a question-and-answer session to cover any specific issues or concerns. Registration fee is $5 and includes class materials. Space is limited. George Keegans’ family thanks the many friends who tirelessly inquired with concerns, caring, questions & prayers, during this most difficult time of what was to have been three days in a hospital but turned into two months when it was determined he’d contracted an infectious disease while there. George was a fighter, but ultimately gave up the fight on the afternoon of Veterans’ Day, and passed over to be with Our Lord. His strength, determination, brightness, high intelligence quotient, auto/electrical/mechanical genius, love for muscle cars i.e. 1970 Dodge Challenger (owned many), also Generation One Mustangs, and many 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air autos, were just some of the things he was known for. Thanks again, folks. A brother, gone too soon, at age 61.

Culbreth Named Employee of the Year
Rocket Stove Class - Chipley Tuesday, January 19; 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Washington County Ag Center, 1424 Jackson Ave., Chipley Rocket stoves are an efficient and alternative cooking method that can be used in emergency, disaster, and camping situations. The design of the rocket stove allows it to operate on about half as much fuel as a traditional open fire, and it can use smaller-diameter wood. We’ll demonstrate how to make a rocket stove, share tips on safely using rocket stoves, and even prepare a dish you can sample. Registration fee is $5 and includes class materials. Space is limited.
errell Culbreth, a journeyman line worker in the Graceville district was named 2015 West Florida Electric Cooperative Employee of the Year by his peers in December 2015. Culbreth was chosen to receive this award by his co-workers because he best exemplifies the following traits: personality, punctuality, safety habits, team work, flexibility and outstanding performance on the job. As a journeyman line worker, Culbreth works on a construction and maintenance crew that maintains the cooperative’s distribution system. His duties include building new electric services, performing work and maintenance on the cooperative’s power lines, troubleshooting and working on energized power lines, when needed. 82932001 Culbreth started his career at WFEC in January 2003 as an apprentice lineman. He and his wife, Kacie, have been married for 12 years and have four sons: Cade, 10; Caleb, 7; Kamdyn, 4 and Karstyn, 19 months. In his spare time, Culbreth enjoys spending time with his family, watching his sons play sports and working out. Josh Rabon from the Sneads district, Anthony Register from the Bonifay district and Candace Croft from the Graceville district were each honored with Outstanding Service Awards. These employees were chosen to receive these awards because they best exemplify the following traits: personality, punctuality, safety habits, team work, flexibility and performance on the job. Dalton Pettis was also recognized as the WFEC Contract Employee of the Year.

1. PREP: Clean area - be sure area is dry and dirt and any old paint or caulk is removed 2. LOAD: Pull plunger all the way back and insert tube. Pull trigger until plunger makes contact with tube, then squeeze to fill tip with caulk. 3. APPLY: Hold gun at slight angle and pull trigger to apply a solid stream of caulk 1/2 inch or less from desired area. 4. RELEASE: Once trigger is fully depressed, release it and continue. 5. CLEAN: Use a damp cloth to clean off any excess caulk. Finish cleaning with dry cloth.
