Corbin Appointed to Vacant District 5 Trustee Seat

our West Florida Electric Board of Trustees has appointed David E. Corbin of Alford, Florida, to fill the District 5 Board of Trustees seat left vacant by the passing of long-time trustee, A.C. Miles. Corbin’s family has been members of WFEC for three generations and he has been a member himself for the past seven years. Corbin is currently employed by the Holmes County Board of Commissioners as David Corbin County Projects Director where he is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Holmes County Board of Commissioners. He was previously employed by the Washington County Board of Commissioners and retired in May 2016 after working with the county 37 years. 38803002 He has served as a member of the of Panhandle Public Library Cooperative Services (PPLCS) Board for the past six years and as Chairman for the past four years. The PPLCS was established in 1992 and serves over 109,000 residents of Calhoun, Holmes and Jackson counties with a combined library collection of approximately 200,000 items in its multicounty libraries. Corbin is the son of Eugene, Sr. and Addleane Corbin. He is married to Rebecca Corbin and they have one daughter, Jennifer, and two granddaughters, Jailey and Makenna. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting and riding horses. “I want to thank the Board of Trustees for their trust in me and for appointing me as trustee. Powering Up After an OUTAGE When the power goes out, we expect it to be restored within a few hours. But when a major storm or natural disaster causes widespread damage, extended outages may result. A substation can serve hundreds or thousands of members. When a major outage occurs, line crews inspect substations to determine if problems stem from transmission lines feeding into the substation, the substation itself or if problems exist further down the line.

This is the process that was used to restore members' power after Hurricane Michael. This particular process of restoring power is used industry-wide since it is the most efficient way to restore power to the greatest number of members possible.
3. Main Distribution Lines:
If the problem can't be isolated at a distribution substation, distribution lines are checked. These lines carry power to large groups of members in communities or housing developments.

If local outages persist, supply lines (known as tap lines) are inspected. These lines deliver power to transformers, either mounted on poles or placed on pads for underground service, outside businesses, schools and homes.

He shares with our future leaders how he overcame challenges from an accident that left him paralyzed and in deep despair to become a successful athlete, author and speaker. our West Florida Electric Board of Trustees has appointed David E. Corbin of Alford, Florida, to fill the District 5 Board of Trustees seat left vacant by the passing of long-time trustee, A.C. Miles. Corbin’s family has been members of WFEC for three generations and he has been a member himself for the past seven years. Corbin is currently employed by the Holmes County Board of Commissioners as David Corbin County Projects Director where he is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Holmes County Board of Commissioners. He was previously employed by the Washington County Board of Commissioners and retired in May 2016 after working with the county 37 years. 38803002 He has served as a member of the of Panhandle Public Library Cooperative Services (PPLCS) Board for the past six years and as Chairman for the past four years. The PPLCS was established in 1992 and serves over 109,000 residents of Calhoun, Holmes and Jackson counties with a combined library collection of approximately 200,000 items in its multicounty libraries. Corbin is the son of Eugene, Sr. and Addleane Corbin. He is married to Rebecca Corbin and they have one daughter, Jennifer, and two granddaughters, Jailey and Makenna. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting and riding horses. “I want to thank the Board of Trustees for their trust in me and for appointing me as trustee.
