In the fall of 1953, Cardinal Giovanni Montini (the future Pope Paul VI) was serving as the Vatican’s Secretariat of State.

He was in Dublin on an official visit from Rome. Visiting diplomats normally stayed at The Chief Secretary’s Lodge (the presidential residence) in Phoenix Park.

In the late evening, the Cardinal chose a book from the library to read before bed, as was his habit.

The book he selected just happened to be LIFE OF MATT TALBOT by Sir Joseph A. Glynn.

It was a fascinating account. The story of a Holy Man of Dublin. A spiritual Warrior of the working class.

Certain passages were of singular interest...

HE read into the late evening.

he finally retired for the night, still quite intrigued...

He read the book until he fell asleep after midnight.

HIS DREAMS WERE VERY STRANGE...
