WARRIOR SCOOP seasons, games, practices SOCCER<>VOLLEYBALL<>X-COUNTRY<>CHEER Soccer Reflection “Would you try out again?” When asked this question, 91% of the students surveyed confidently responded “Yes.” The most unique reply that somebody gave when asked this question was, “What do you think? Do I look like the kind of guy who gives up on my team, heck no! I will!” This quote was from committed team member, Mason Kimmerle. The end of the season has come. Not counting the 5th and 6th grade games, West Valley’s soccer ranking this year was 1 in 11, with 1 being the number of games our team won. Besides that, many people would agree that it was a great season and that the team worked and played hard. Around half the people questioned all replied that their favorite part of the soccer season were the van rides. The other portion said that their favorite part was winning the one game that we won. In the words of Zoey Perdomo herself, “It was a good way to start the season.” Our soccer team’s “Best Defender” of the year, Elijah Walker, is one of our 3 eighth graders that will not be joining our team next year. Elijah Walser, our very own “Flash” is included in that group, as well as our “Heart and Soul” of the team, Evalee Harris. Many people admit we are sad to see these few leave; thank you guys for going out for this team and trying your

Things you Should know about Cross Country By: Anderson Kimmerle Cross Country is a fun sport where you run long distances. Lots of people say that Cross Country is just about running but there is strategy behind it too. Here are some tips about running Cross Country. One, you have to figure out what your pace is (or comfortable speed running long distance). If you don’t run at a pace you can maintain, you are at risk of overexerting yourself, or in other words, tiring yourself out. Two, you have to be hydrated before you run Cross Country. You should start drinking lots of water a day before you run your race. You shouldn’t drink Gatorade or Body Armor right before the race; those are drinks you should drink afterwards to build back up electrolytes after your run. Three, you should always try to finish strong. At the end of the race it is very common to sprint the last part. Lots of people don’t do this because they are usually too tired to sprint, that is why you should find your pace. These are some tips you should use when you run Cross Country.

Volleyball B team remains undefeated after a heated competition against the other school, B team pulled through and got another win! In the first set, there was one foul which was from our team. Soon the first set came to an end and timeout started. The results of the first set was that our team scored 24 points, and away scored 9 points. After the timeout was over, the second set started. The crowd watched as the game went on. There were many saves from both sides, but eventually the B team won with 25 points! The other team was right behind us with 18 points. The volleyball game was fun and interesting to watch, and all the players did a spectacular job. It was a great way to have fun and worship the Lord while doing it.

hardest.

Our brand new cheer team has lots of pep and is ready to rally at our Warrior basketball games! However, since the basketball season hasn’t started yet, they made their debut at the Litchfield parade. It was amazing to witness, and the audience loved them! We look forward to more appearances from the Cheer Team in the near future.

MEET THE COACHES Known as Coach to some, Mr. Ratliff to others, and Dad to a few, our soccer coach has now coached this sport for 7 years. Coach Ratliff put so much time into this season and should be rightly recognized. The volleyball A team coach was Tressa Barney. The volleyball B team coaches were Courtney Stall and Kim VanHofwegen

This is Coach Powell, affectionately known to the the cross-country team as “Coach Beard.” This is his first year coaching at West Valley.

The cheer coach this year is none other than our very own middle school principal’s daughter, Coach Adragna. YBJ

CHAPEL

ELEMENTARY CHAPEL

VETERANS DAY CHAPEL

On November 6, our school hosted a Veterans Day chapel to show our appreciation and gratitude for our veterans. We hope that we were able to convey our gratitude in such a short amount of time. First, middle schoolers Madelyn and Emily performed a duet of the song “Who you say I am,” (written by Hillsong Worship) and they did an exquisite job. After this, Anderson Kimmerle and Gracie Van-Hofwegen repeated the “Veterans Prayer.” Next, the Drama Club performed a poetry piece titled, “Veterans Day.” Following that, the fourth and fifth graders sang “ On Veterans Day,” which was both heartwarming and endearing. When the song was over, LT Colonel Luke Harris started his message out by leading an enticing round of military-themed trivia. Concluding chapel, the Leadership Team gave a special tribute to our veterans. We cannot fully express how grateful we are for our veterans and how important they are to us. We can only hope the message was conveyed. MIKAYLA ARUMBULA
