The Sydney Gymnastics Centre (SGC) welcomes athletes to its Competitive Gymnastics Program with a commitment to helping them reach their full potential. The program emphasises the importance of dedication, training, and determination to achieve personal success. Athletes are encouraged to carefully consider the level of commitment required, as their journey progresses.
The handbook provides essential information about the club, its programs, and processes, aiming to guide both athletes and their families. It highlights the role of accredited coaches who will offer their expertise throughout the year. In return, SGC expects athletes to show respect for themselves, their teammates, coaches, and the club.
For any additional questions or topics not covered in the handbook, athletes are encouraged to reach out to their Team Leader or the Gymnastics Operations Manager.
Gymnastics is an inherently dangerous sport. By enrolling your child in one of our programs, you are accepting the natural risks which occur in this sport. At SGC we work hard to reduce the risk of accidents and injury through the provision of high-quality equipment and qualified staff who thoroughly prepare each gymnast for every skill. However, not every risk can be eliminated and thus participants must take responsibility for their own actions.

Squad membership is by invitation and reviewed continuously, based on factors such as potential, previous results, physical abilities, mental aptitude, coordination, toughness, discipline, work ethic, and self-motivation.
It is expected that our competitive gymnasts do their upmost to:
Attend all training sessions
Attend all competitions
Advise your key contact with as much notice as possible if your gymnast will be absent
Come ready, prepared and wearing the correct training uniform for all training sessions
All athletes must bring all relevant equipment, including but not exclusive to hand guards, socks, tramp shoes, water bottles, water spray, tape and straps.
Make yourself available for extra training if required
Attend all external clinics when offered
Accept that training dates, times and coaches may be subject to change
Be respectful of coaches at all times and always follow their instructions

Accept that a gymnast may be withdrawn without refund should a gymnast be absent for a significant proportion of training sessions
Have competition uniform ready for all events
In the case of Acrobatics and Team Gym; should your gymnast be absent from training sessions, adaptions may be made to the team and/or routine that could result in your gymnast being withdrawn from the competition
