readersletters Dobson in the “Hall of Shame!” Dear Editor The National Radio Hall of Fame has committed a “felony” by nominating Dr. James Dobson, a self-proclaimed “Christian” into their hallowed halls. An ignorant and gullible public voted for him over honest more deserving candidates. Dobson, deluded into believing only he is God’s mouthpiece, falsely preaches that all “practicing gays” are going straight to hell! When peaceful reasonable folks attempt to dialogue with him about homosexuality or gender identity they are arrested as trespassers by his obedient minions, before facing their accuser and judge! Unwittingly, the uneducated public hears his “gospel of hate” and continues to accept Dobson as a Christian leader, to the tune of $138 million dollars in profits last year! In truth, Dobson has no theological training and lives in stark contrast to Christ’s teachings. He has the audacity to publicly accuse Barak Obama of altering scripture to fit his needs! Dr. Dobson is a notorious fear and hate-monger of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people. He has been trapped in serial lies pertaining to these minorities, especially distorting research claiming them to be unsuitable parents. He rants with no concrete evidence, that being “gay” is “preventable, a sinful choice, and is curable,” causing untold emotional heartache and worse. LGBT’s have been suicide victims, attacked and butchered as the result of Dobson and his misguided organization, Focus On the Family. by Michael Weinberg It’s much easier to defend someone’s first amendment rights if you agree with what he has to say. The real challenge is sticking up for freedom of speech when the message makes no sense to you at all. Knowing this, I would never suggest barring protestors from the annual Pride Parade. In fact, I’ve always believed that they add a certain charm and validity to the parade. After all, if no one objects to what you have to say, you’re probably not saying it loudly enough. With that said, I’d also like to point out that the freedom of speech is not absolute. The rights guaranteed by the first amendment end as soon as they begin to interfere with the rights of others. I’m not an expert in constitution law, but I’m pretty sure that hate speech is not constitutionally protected; neither is speech designed to interfere with someone else’s right of assembly. I have no doubt that if I were to show up outside a church with a bullhorn, denouncing the church and spouting my belief that the congregation members would all suffer eternal damnation, the police would be called and I would be ordered to stop what I was doing or face immediate arrest. That’s why I can’t understand what happened on the morning of June 7 at the staging area for the 2008 CNY Pride Parade. Protestors with bullhorns were allowed to loudly interrupt the speeches of Mayor Driscoll and Common Council President Gonzalez. The police stood idly by as protestors shouted over the crowd and interfered with the day’s festivities. Members of the Pride Planning Committee had spent months meeting with city officials, paying fees, and obtaining the necessary permits to hold a public assembly and parade. Yet protestors, who
had done no such things, were allowed to gather, to march through the staging area, and to interfere with the staging of the parade. Protestors with bullhorns shouted a litany of sexual acts despite the fact that children, both ours and their own, were within easy hearing distance. How quick they are to judge members of the local LGBT community, but I know of no community members who would use such language in front of a child. Ironically, CNY Pride was billed by the Syracuse Police Department for the security that was provided during the Parade and Festival. While some police officers were clearly trying to do their jobs, some made it very clear through both their words and their actions that their sympathies lay with the protesters. It’s sad that in 2008, bigotry still seems rampant in the streets of Syracuse. Next year, I’d like to see the protestors confined to their own assigned area, free to spout their bigotry and hate without interfering with parade-goers or speakers. I’d like to see them told that if they wish to march on public streets, they too must obtain permits and pay for security. Mostly, I’d like to see laws, especially those intended to protect minors, being consistently and fairly enforced. Yes, you’re certainly free to disagree with me, but you have to show the same respect for my constitutional rights as I show for yours. I’m sure you’d be the first to complain if I were to disrupt your festivities the way you consistently disrupt ours. (The Gay Times welcomes reactions and replies to this editorial.)

After years of dodging rumors and speculation, in a PEOPLE exclusive the former ‘American Idol’ runner-up gives his Ellen-inspired admission: ‘Yes, I’m Gay.’ “It was the first decision I made as a father,” says Aiken, 29, who recently had a child through a surrogate mother. “I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things. Obama Letter Puts Gay Rights On Campaign Forefront Gay rights moved to the forefront of the presidential campaign Tuesday after Democratic Sen. Barack Obama's announcement that he opposes a November ballot measure that would ban same-sex marriage in California. In a letter to San Francisco's Alice B. Toklas Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Democratic Club, the presumptive presidential nominee said he opposed "the divisive and discriminatory efforts to amend the California Constitution" and similar efforts in other states. Obama's position on Proposition 8 was announced at a club event Sunday. Last week, Arizona Sen. John McCain, the expected GOP standardbearer in November, told officials of Protect Marriage, a coalition that gathered 1.1 million signatures for the California measure, that he backs their efforts "to recognize marriage as a unique institution between a man and a woman." For both campaigns, the decision to get involved in the same-sex marriage debate carries political risks. California is one of three states with same-sex marriage bans on the November ballot. While the state is seen as Obama country, and Arizona is McCain's home state, Florida, the third state seeking to limit marriage to a man and a woman, is a swing state that will be a major prize in the November election. Obama is skating gingerly past his previous position on the issue. The Illinois senator has said repeatedly that he believes marriage should be only between man and a woman. When the California Supreme Court overturned the state's ban on same-sex marriage in May, Obama released a carefully nuanced statement saying he respected the court's decision, believed states should make their own decisions on marriage and "will continue to fight for civil unions as president." On Tuesday, Obama spokeswoman Shannon Gilson released this statement: "Senator Obama supports civil unions, and he has consistently opposed federal and state constitutional marriage amendments because as we have seen in some states, enshrining a definition of marriage into the constitution can allow states to roll back the civil rights and benefits that are provided in domestic partnerships and civil unions." But civil unions, gay activists argue, aren't the same as marriage, and they say his earlier stance would put Obama on the wrong side of what's increasingly seen as a civil rights issue.

They are not able to leave, call out, etc. They couple is in the middle of no where. It’s a good movie, relying on old scare tactics instead of grisly slayings. They do waltzes, hip hop, krump, contemporary, etc etc. And every week they are judged by a great, professional, group of judges. Nigel Lythgoe, who also produces on the show, is the main judge. Is “Queer As Folk” Movie Material? Picture this: Queer As Folk on the big screen. Wouldn't it be amazing? There is a wave of television shows being turned into feature films these days. Sex and the City was made into a movie (and a hugely successful one at that), the second X-Files flick is about to come out, the big screen adaptation of cult favorite Arrested Development is going to be shot soon, and there is talk of a Friends film. So how about a big screen version of Showtime's Queer As Folk? Don't you wonder what happened to Brian, Justin, Michael, Ben, Ted, Emmett and the rest of the Liberty Avenue gang? You don’t have to be a studio executive to realize that the film would have a built-in audience. What gay man wouldn't be on line to see Queer As Folk on opening weekend? Honestly, just the idea of seeing Gale Harold in all his glory on the big screen as Brian makes me crazy, and I can guarantee you I'd see the film more than once, and I'd buy the DVD, too! In addition to Gale Harold, the producers would have to bring back the rest of the original cast, including Randy Harrison as

It'll only be three years come August since the show went off the air, but now is the time to make the Queer As Folk film. In fact, time is of the essence here: I want to see Brian, Justin and the other guys on the big screen before they have aged ten years, so the show's executive producers Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman need to get cracking on a script if they haven't already penned one. This test was established to rate, review, and compare the various "Teeth Whitening" products sold on the internet. I quote the word "Teeth Whitening" because not all of the products reviewed actually whiten your teeth! Yes, they are all marketed as teeth whiteners, but not all of them are, in fact many are just gimmicks that range in price any where from $10 to $1000! The fact is that some teeth whitening products do actually work! The problems is cutting through the hype to find out which ones are real and work, which ones are real and kind of work, and which ones are just overpriced gimmicks! That is exactly the purpose of this test, as I was in the same position you are in a year ago when I first heard about all the new teeth whitening methods in the fashion magazines and on TV. I wish there was a test like this a year ago, so I could have cut through the hype, and just purchased the one that actually delivers results. All in all, I think it was worth it, as I now know first hand what WORKS and what DOESN'T, and if you're like me, you wouldn't mind trying a few different products to find that one product that can dramatically enhance your smile, confidence, and overall appearance. I honestly never thought that increasing the brightness of my smile a few shades would make much of difference in my overall look, but now I can't imagine going a day without my favorite teeth whitening product. Of course, I never had a terrible smile, just some very slight discoloration, but nothing major. I never received compliments about my "about average" smile, and if I ever did catch a compliment, it was usually the standard "beautiful eyes" line. But now after 4 months of using my favorite teeth whitener, I get 2-3 compliments a day about how "nice" my smile is from both men and women. So, here are my honest teeth whitening reviews:
My Number One Pick:
Celebrity Sexy Teeth is the winner, too bad I didn't find it first. I first heard about this product when E! News recommended it in their Spring Style picks last year, and so far I must agree with E! That this is the best Teeth Whitener on the market. The difference with this Teeth Whitener is that you get both short-term and long-term whitening as it works with both the inner and outer enamel. Aside from the scientific reasoning, the results are absolutely fabulous, and unlike other products, there was NO sensitivity! In addition to delivering a whitening effect that the others just can't compare to, it also happens to be quickest, cleanest, and least expensive method I've tried. I absolutely love it, it only takes a few seconds to get your teeth pearly white, and there's no mess or pain. Using this product, I was able to move up 7 shades.
Runner Up:
Britesmile was the first teeth whitening method I had ever tried. The old BriteSmile commercials really got me excited about teeth whitening. When I first tried Britesmile in 2003, I was pretty happy with the results as I saw an improvement of 7 shades, however I wasn't so happy with the $600 bill. There was no pain during the first 40 minutes, but the last 20 minute session was borderline intolerable as my teeth became super sensitive. I reluctantly tried Britesmile again in early 2006 when the price had dropped to $400, and saw an improvement of 6 shades this time. Britesmile definitely works, however, aside from the hefty price; you're also instructed not to eat any "colored" foods for the next 3-4 days (that means you can only eat cottage cheese and cauliflower for 96 hours! Uhh! ) GoSmile is another popular teeth whitening product. GoSmile is fairly effective, and like Celebrity Sexy Teeth, does not cause tooth

sensitivity. However it only gets 3 stars as I only saw on improvement of 4 shades with GoSmile versus 7 shades from Celebrity Sexy Teeth. I do however love the way GoSmile is packaged; I just wish their product was a bit more effective. ZOOM Teeth Whitening gets 2 stars because it does work fairly well (I saw an improvement of 5 shades), but it's way too expensive at $1000-$1200, and it causes extreme tooth sensitivity. Two of my friends that tried ZOOM also complained about terrible tooth sensitivity for days after the treatment. Crest Whitestrips Premium Plus are Crest's fifth attempt at making a decent teeth whitening product. After using this product for 3 weeks, I did see an improvement of 2 shades. This falls under the "teeth whiteners that kind of work" category so it is only recommended as a back up when you run out of Celebrity Sexy Teeth or GoSmile. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because it's the only product you'll find in the drug store that will give you any results, just not much at 2 shades. Crest Whitestrips Supreme are one of Crest's earlier teeth whitening products that was heavily promoted on TV commercials. Unfortunately, this product simply does not work. ZERO shades of improvements after using this product for 2 weeks. Worse yet, it causes slight tooth sensitivity! No wonder Crest had to come out with several new versions after releasing this ineffective product! Complete waste of money! Same as above, Crest Original Whitening Strips are a little less expensive than Crest Whitestrips Supreme, but again simply do not work! Still a waste of money. Not recommended, read above.
Last Words: For people wanting to enhance their appearance, a good teeth whitener is a must! People often underestimate the importance of having a brighter smile. Aside from your eyes, which first impression characteristic do people usually remember about you? Think about it! A whiter, brighter smile equals youth and friendliness! If you're reading this, I'm sure you feel the same way. That's why I tried all of these Teeth Whitening methods, and since I know which ones worked for me and which ones didn't, I figure I should let everyone know. It's my way of giving you some good info, getting back at the products that didn't work, and thanking those that worked for me. As said above, I completely recommend Celebrity Sexy Teeth, it's a potent Teeth Whitener that works. Britesmile is good too, but is pricier and not as effective.
