The PeruRail Titicaca train offers an unforgettable journey linking the magical cities of Cusco and Puno. Spend a full day crossing the Peruvian Andes between the shores of the mystical Lake Titicaca and the Imperial City of the Incas in an unparalleled experience featuring top-notch service.

One of the most luxurious train journeys in South America, the PeruRail Titicaca offers guests an opulent and dazzling experience with its 1920s-style Pullman carriages. This specactular 385km train journey takes 10 and a half hours. You’ll travel through the the Peruvian Andes, the Abra La Raya mountain pass at 4,350 metres and the commercial hub of Juliaca. On the latter part of the route, you’ll be able to look on in awe at the train’s namesake as you hug the coast of the majestic Lake Titicaca before pulling into Puno station in the early evening.

Affectionately known as the ‘Pride of Africa’, this Edwardian-style Rovos Rail train has been authentically refurbished, reflecting the romance and atmosphere of a bygone era, and setting the scene for the truly unique journey that lies ahead. Step aboard the vintage wood-panelled coaches and sit back as some of the most varied scenery imaginable unfolds beyond the windows. With discreet and friendly service, top cuisine and a selection of South Africa’s finest wines, Rovos Rail harks back to a simpler, more elegant era encompassing the timeless grace and high romance of African exploration.

Rovos Rail Suites - effortlessly combine vintage elegance with modern luxury. Each of the room types has been refurbished to a supremely high standard - all with en-suites with showers, tea facilities and other amenities.

Observation Car - with its open-air balcony and big picture windows, it’s the perfect spot to watch the stunning landscapes pass by in the company of your travel companions. On most days, afternoon tea is served in the Observation Car while bar service is available in the evening.

Dining Car - indulge in expertly prepared, mouth-watering cuisine in the pre-1940s setting of the dining car. You will be served breakfast, lunch and a fourcourse dinner whilst aboard - complemented by fine South African wines.

Lounge Car - with its big picture windows, sofas and wingbacks, the Lounge Car has both areas perfect for socliasing and quiet corners to while away the days. On most days, afternoon tea is served at in the Lounge Car while bar service is available in the evening. There may even be a historian aboard your train, who will host fascinating lectures on the history of this incredible region in the Lounge Car.

From Taipei railway station, you’ll board the train to Ruifang, where you start your guided tour along the scenic 8-mile Pingxi Line. There are 12 stations on Pingxi Line and your guide will recommend the best places to hop on and off to explore the country villages and waterfalls. A stop at Shifen Old Street is a must for all travellers, where you can purchase a sky lantern to carry wishes and hopes for the coming year.

Alishan Forest Train (Day 6 of your Short Stay)

Travel by car to Yuyupas, a cultural park where you can learn about the indigenous Tsou Tribe and enjoy a coffee or tea tasting experience. Then begin your exploration of the beautiful Alishan Forest Recreation Area and ride the scenic Alishan Forest Train - the highest narrow-gauge railway in Asia - as it winds through dense forest. Continue your sightseeing around Alishan stopping at natural sights such as the Sister Pond, Brother Tree and Three Generation Tree.
