At Wellington College, all of our students are important and valuable. We meet students where they are as individuals and help them to discover, and then to become, the very best they can be. Wellingtonians, staff and students alike, aspire to be Inspired Intellectual Independent Individual Inclusive
These ideals animate every part of life at WCIB Senior School - intellectual, sporting, extracurricular - and they are imbedded in the variety of daily interactions between teachers, staff and students in all areas of school life.
Discovering and becoming our very best selves is ajourney, not a destination. At WCIB Senior School, we are delighted to guide your children on that journey. Read more about our shared ideals by clicking here.
We want your child to be intellectually stretched and inspired; to feel supported as they take the risks and tackle the challenges through which they will become truly independent individuals. Students thrive intellectually when they are happy and well supported, and they develop their individuality most freely when they feel part of a shared, inclusive, community. This is why pastoral care underpins all aspects of our work at WCIB Senior School.
The House system is the foundation upon which the wellbeing of every student is built. House Tutors and have the wellbeing of every studentas their priority. The Senior School House has eight Houses - Hopetoun, Orange, Lynedoch, Picton, Hill, Murray, Anglesey and Talbot - which are each divided into small House Tutor groups. All Senior School students belong to a House and a House Tutor Group. Tutor groups are vertical, which means they have students from Year 7 to 11.
The House Tutor is a teacher that students will see every day. They play the role of an inschool parent; they work closely with every member of the tutor group, they are the first point of contact for parents, and the first person to whom students will turn for help and support. The bonds between House Tutor and students, and between House Tutor and parents, are very strong.
Effective monitoring and feedback help maximise progress academically, personally and on the sports field. Each House Tutor is responsible for monitoring the wellbeing and progress of everyone in the group. Since House Tutors are the first point of contact for parents on both academic and pastoral matters, it is important that a strong partnership develops quickly between tutor, student and parent. Please expect to hear from your child's House Tutor regularly, and do not hesitate to get in touch with them.
Students spend time in their House Tutor Groups every day. Prep is also often done in House groups. Beyond the academic, we place a premium on helping studentsdevelop their characterthroughthe Wellington Values and Identity. The values of Kindness, Integrity, Responsibility, Courage and Respect are key to WCIB Senior School. Students explore and nurture these principles with their House Tutors throughout their time in the Senior School - in daily House Tutor period as well as through other lessons.
A key feature of the House system is the many House competitions that take place throughout the year in sports, academics and the arts. Competitions result in House points and are one of the ways students develop a core House identity, as well as being a way to test themselves and to support their peers through friendly rivalry. Numerous friendly competitions, and the encouragement to always aspire to be the best that we can be, underpin the year-long House pointstally, and results in an overall House winner at the end of the year.

There are some times of the year when the air quality in Bangkok is poor. Toensure the safety of all our students, we monitor AQI (using US standards), indoors and outdoors, throughout the day. Parents can find Wellington College Bangkok on the AirVisual app to monitor levels around the school. Please be advised that levels in different areas of Bangkok can vary widely so please consult the official Wellington College reading, which is taken in the school grounds, rather than the general Bangkok reading.
The school's HVAC systems are fitted with high-specification air filters and we have additional air purifiers inside the buildings.
On days when we take action as a result of high AQl levels {for example, restricting or curtailing outdoor activities), all parents receive an email explaining what we have done.
Please see the Air Quality Policy here for more detailed information.
The school tracks lightning using an alarm system. If lightning is in the area or likely to be in the area, all outdoor activities, including swimming, are cancelled and students remain indoors until the risk has passed. If swimminglessons are cancelled as a result of weather, parents are informed by email.
During the hot season, we monitor the Heat Index and curtail outdoor activities when appropriate. Please see our Policy for further information.
