ALLEGED ARMED ROBBER FOUND HIDING IN GARBAGE BIN
DUMB AND A DUMPSTER
TROY DODDS
man allegedly robbed the Kingswood Hotel of $20,000 before trying to flee in a rideshare vehicle and then hiding from police in a garbage dumpster. The 37-year-old has since been charged by police after he was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The alleged armed robbery took place at 12.40am, with the
hotel still open for trade. The Telopea man was allegedly armed with a gun and threatened three employees at
the pub on the Great Western Highway before running off with $20,000 in cash. It’s understood the man then tried to leave the scene in a rideshare vehicle, which was stopped by police. He then fled on foot, leaving behind his weapon and multiple clothing items. With the assistance of the Dog Unit, officers located the man in a dumpster in nearby Bringelly Lane.
