Annoying Relatives YouWill Meet
This Eid With Eid ul Fitr around the corner, we are bracing ourselves against the onslaught of visits from family, friends and random people you do not ever recall meeting before the day. It is Eid after all and as much as we love the whole 3-day affair, there are also annoying people you will meet who really test your patience (the stuff you spent 30 days of Ramadan familiarising yourself with). Let us break it down for you, as we day dream about all the Kheer we will get to eat soon!
We feel a tad mean writing this one but give us a minute and we’ll get over it. Yes, Eid is all about that glorious food but that does not mean you hog all said food. Let others have a go at it and if you’re really starving return for seconds. Don’t just keep topping up before anyone else has had the chance to eat. *One particular Team Weekend member feels very passionate about this and will be using a fly swatter to swat away greedy hands*

All summer long 9 LONG-LASTING MAKEUP PRODUCTS
BY Saffa Farooq @confidently.classy
L NA O
REFESS PO I
For priming the skin, dab on some of the Porefessional on your face, focusing on the T-zone, right before applying your foundation. It has that silky and lightweight feel that will cover up any pores and fine lines, and help your makeup stick to the skin better, making it last longer.
MAYBELLINE AGE REWIND
As the month of June hits off, the summer heat has really started to get to the best of us. Along with this come the horrors of humidity and sweating, which have the negative effect of melting our makeup away! So here we have compiled a list of products, that are sure to help your makeup last all day in this scorching heat and prevent it from melting away.
YSLTOUCHE ÉCLAT FOUNDATION The ToucheÉclat foundation is the perfect lightweight foundation for the summers! It’ll give you that inner glow without caking you up. You can easily build up the coverage, depending on how you like it. The ToucheÉclat provides sun protection with SPF 22, and targets dullness to brighten the skin.
JUNE 25, 2017 | 80
We all need some under eye concealing to hide those dark circles away! The Maybelline age rewind is just perfect for that, with its light feel and opaque coverage. Use it under your eyes, to brighten your look up, and spot conceal anywhere you may need some extra coverage.
LAURA MERCIER TRANSLUCENT POWDER Setting your makeup with face powder is a must! The Laura Mercier Translucent Powder is formulated with cashmere talc, which is specifically made to increase the wear of makeup. Setting with a powder helps control the oiliness of the T-zone, which otherwise could lead to makeup wearing off much quicker. So a light dusting of the powder all over your face will help keep your makeup oil controlled. The Translucent Powder can also be used for some under eye baking, to prevent your concealer from creasing.
weekend | lifestyle
The Benefit Watts Up highlighter is sure to make you glow like a goddess, with its champagne glow and cream to powder texture. It gives that luminous pearly sheen, without making you look oily.
H-BRONZ S E LU
R
HUDA BEAUTY LIQUID MATTE We cannot stress upon how amazing this liquid lipstick is! Not at all drying on the lips, like the usual formulas we’ve seen. It is sure to last you all day, with the intense pigment and staying power it has. No matter what your lip colour choice is, you will find a colour from this range that is going to fit your taste.
O DU
The NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo with the most sought after shades ~ Orgasm and Laguna is the perfect compact to add definition and a flush of colour to the face! Use Laguna to sculpt your face, contouring under the cheekbones and jawline. Add that pop of colour to the apples of your cheek using the Orgasm blush, following Charlotte Tilbury’s famous swish and pop application method.
KATVON D TATTOO LINER BENEFIT THEY’RE REAL MASCARA To get yourself that perfect winged liner, use Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner in Trooper. It is a very opaque intense black with an amazing staying power, so it won’t be smudging around. Top it off with some Benefit They’re Real Mascara which makes the lashes look long and voluminous, giving them the falsie effect.
MAC PREP + PRIME FIX PLUS To set your makeup in place, spritz the Mac Fix Plus all over your face. A tip we learnt from Mario Dedivanovic, Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist, is to take a sturdy sheet of card and fan your setting spray dry and in place. It is sworn to lock your makeup and keep it looking refreshed, and not at all cakey. And thats all from our side ladies, hope you all will benefit from these product recommendations. Have a happy and glammed up summer!

The Way you look tonight 5 Bridal Looks to inspire your big day by
M a r a m & Aa b r o o @maramaabroo
January 29, 2017 | 28
We love how Maram and Aabroo opted to give this gorgeous bride a signature look with traditional gold eye makeup. Her cheekbones are accentuated with contouring and a bit of highlight. The look is tied up together with a red lip using everyone’s favourite ‘Ruby Woo’ by MAC.
weekend | fashion January 29, 2017 | 28
Every look that is created on the Maram and Aabroo brides is unique and distinct. Since the bride here chose to wear a subtlecolored, traditional attire, they made her eyes the center of attention. The greyish-black smoky eyes were achieved by using MAC’seyeshadows in ‘black-tied’, on the lid and ‘Suspicion’, on the lower lash line. The bride’s lips were kept simple by painting them nude in ‘Honeylove’ by MAC that works perfect with her clothes and jewelry.
weekend | fashion
Here the bride’s make up is left simple and glowy. On her eyes, the neutral shades from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette are played with. Her cheeks are washed with a pinky-peach blush and a pop of highlight is given to her cheekbones using champagne pop by Becca Cosmetics.
January 29, 2017 | 28
This briderocks a modern look with a classic twist that is focused on providing her with nice dewy finish. The use of the highlighter emphasizes the cheekbones and gives a bright glow to the bride which matches perfectly with the color of her outfit. Her lips are kept the center of attention with Huda Beauty’s liquid matte in ‘Vixen’.
weekend | fashion January 29, 2017 | 28
This signature look compliments the bride with yet another dark red lip that contrasts with the light colors of her outfit. Keeping her eyes light with just a hint of color, the eyeshadows ‘Amber Lights’ by MAC, balances out nicely with the whole look.

HOW TO SURVIVE A LEVEL? Salman Naseer I wish I could tell you that there was a universal formula that teens could apply, no matter how bad their math was, to find their merry way through the A’ levels programme. There isn’t. Though, what I can assure you of, is that you are in for an exhilarating ride that lasts two years (usually, that is, if you don’t fail exams on a habitual basis). Graduates assume the role of experts if you ask them for guidance. Some will tell you, “it’s all about academics…keep your head down…focus on your grades…don’t waste time on fun and games or on the opposite gender”, while others will tell you to “take it eez…study only in the last 2 weeks…party till you drop”. I come from a co-ed school (LACAS), which is known for its diversity; focus on extracurricular activities, and providing an enabling environment for students to grow creatively and academically as unique individuals. This is a different philosophy entirely and one close to my heart. The idea is to find the right balance between what is essential to achieve desired grades and what is necessary to cultivate a well-rounded personality. By no means is it a simple task to juggle between studies, debates, sports and pimples. Here is my recipe:
JUNE 25, 2017 | 96
Lets state the obvious and most important ingredient first. Your A’ level grades. They matter! Don’t believe it if anyone tells you otherwise. In fact tell such people to stay the hell away from you. These grades are the bases or foundations on which you will build your careers. Yes, we are all active on social media and have been made aware, repeatedly, of examples of Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison and Bill Gates who dropped out of college and yet are remembered for their groundbreaking work. If you categorize yourself in the same league as Einstein, well then, more power to you. Remember, though, that these are but a handful of exceptions amongst hundreds of thousands of success stories who did well in college. Pink Floyd can claim ‘we don’t need no education’ all they want and that too using a sentence structure which leaves much to be desired! Second, indulge in co-curricular activities. These not only complement your studies but add new dimensions to your personality. They may include, amongst others, being part of the school council, dramatics team, MUNs, arts or doing social work. Each is a world of its own with countless opportunities. Third, socialize. You are not alone and you need to share your experiences with students coming from different backgrounds. Let them add the spices.
Lastly, and most importantly, learn to manage your time. Time is finite whereas your desires and wishes are not. It is a scarce commodity and when you set out to maximize your A Level experience, you will realize, it is not on your side. Prioritize your time the way only you know how. Add to and season these ‘ingredients’ as per your taste and with a little bit of luck thrown in for good measure; you won’t make a meal of it! JUNE 25, 2017 | 102
KAYSERIA PRET Kayseria Prêt has a delectable collection on offer for the 2017 Eid season so put your thinking caps on and let your discerning eye decide what you’ll be wearing for Eid this year. We have used our signature unique fabrics ranging from Lawn, Chiffon and Cotton Silks to Silk nets, generously adorned with experimental embroideries for a fun festive look. The cuts range from the more traditional Digital Printed shirts and Kurtis, to the currently trendy tunics, and embellished separates like Sharara Pants and Tulip Shalwars. For some glittery oomph, embroideries on fancy fabrics have been peppered with thread, sequins, tilla and gota work. An eye catching power ensemble is our 3-piece combination with lawn and cotton silk embroidered shirt, that comes with screen printed pants and chiffon duppatta, embroidered and hand embellished for the perfect finale.
