The LaGrange Craft Fair returns this weekend to LaGrange Road from Burlington Avenue to Cossitt Avenue and on Harris Street from LaGrange Road to Ashland Avenue. Spring â€™20 Flood Prep: Are You Ready? Temperatures have finally begun soaring into summer-like 90s. It may be enough to wash away some of our recent heavy rainfall memories. But here are the facts: Chicago had the wettest May on Scott record and the 16McAdam Jr. plus inches of spring rain overall was the second-most since 1871. To avoid a repeat of this yearâ€™s flooding issues, this Fall is prime time to install a drainage solution. TIPS TO KEEP IN MIND ON INCOME TAXES AND SELLING A HOME

Reported sale: Taxpayers who cannot exclude the gain from their income must report the sale of their home on a tax retmn. Taxpayers who choose not to claim the exclusion must report the gain on a tax retmn. Taxpayers who receive a Form 1099S, Proceeds from Real Estate Transactions, as part of the real estate transaction must also report the sale on their tax return. Mortgage debt: Some taxpayers must report forgiven or canceled debt as income on their tax return. This generally includes people who went through a mmtgage workout, foreclosure, or other process in which a lender forgave or canceled mortgage debt on their home. Taxpayers who had a written agreement for the forgiveness of the debt in place before January 1, 2017, might be able to exclude the forgiven amount from income. Possible exceptions: There are exceptions to these rules for persons with a disability, certain members of the military, intelligence

community and Peace Corps workers, among others. Multiple homes: Taxpayers who own more than one home can only exclude the gain on the sale of their main home. They must pay taxes on the gain from selling any other home. Tax credit: Taxpayers who claimed the first-time homebuyer credit to purchase their home have special rules that apply to the sale. Taxpayers can use the First Time Homebuyer Credit Account Look-up to get account information, such as the total amount of their credit or repayment amount.

RBHS tennis to host fundraiser Proceeds from singles/doubles tourney will benefit Bulldogs By MARTY FARMER

iverside-Brookfield High School boys tennis coach Sam Weiss certainly has a sense of good timing regarding the inaugural RBHS Tennis Tournament on July 19-20. With Wimbledon in its second week, highlighted by the captivating stories of 15-year-old American sensation Cori “Coco” Gauff, plus perennial title contenders like Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, July represents the high point of the tennis season. Five days after the Gentlemen’s Singles final is completed at Wimbledon’s Centre Court, Weiss and the Bulldogs will host their tennis tourney fundraiser. The RBHS tourney will take place at the school’s five tennis courts (160 Ridgewood Road in Riverside) with the following dates/times: Friday, July 19 at 4 p.m. and Saturday, July 20 at 10 a.m. Based on the number of participants, the tourney will likely include singles and mixed doubles competitions. Doubles by gender is also a possibility based on the number of players’ turnout. Interest in the singles competition is already high and a handful of doubles teams are slated to compete as well. “The plan isn’t to have 1,000 players, especially as a firstyear event,” Weiss said. “We just want to promote awareness and raise money for RB tennis and host a fun, competitive tennis tournament for the community.” The event will include a double-elimination format, with each match winner determined by best two out of three sets and AD scoring. Each player is guaranteed at last two matches with prizes awarded for first, second and third place, The cost for singles is $35 ad doubles is $35 for each player. Students (ages 8-18) will receive a $10 discount. All proceeds will go directly to the RBHS boys and girls tennis teams.
