The school board at the Proviso Township High Schools is now fully comprised of members of the Proviso 209 United political group. With a four-seat sweep in the April 1 election, the group has full control of the direction of the District 209 schools. Newly elected to the school board were Ebony “Nicki” Smith, Rolandra Morris, William Fisher and Nicole “Molly Bee” Molinaro. A special board of education meeting was held on Tuesday, April 29 at Proviso Math and Science Academy for the reorganization of the board and swearing in of new members. The slatemates were able to secure the four-seat sweep following a close race between Molinaro and Candice Ross, who ran on the 209 Student First slate. Molinaro ultimately won 6,604 votes compared

Forest Park’s safety and traffic commission presented its work plan for this year at the start of the April 28 village council meeting. The group advised the village on policy, public engagement and potential processes. The commission’s policy guidance included the suggestion of reviewing off-street parking policies and the village’s permit parking program. In the second quarter of this year, the commission pitched that it review current policies, then have a question-and-answer session with village staff. See TRAFFIC on page 8
