Forest Park’s Ferrara Candy Company airs new commercial for third game

Owners expect the restaurant to open by summer, offering their take on Mexican street food

Were you watching the Super Bowl during the second quarter on Feb. 8? If so, you probably caught a commercial for Nerds — marking the third year the candy, made in Forest Park, has made an appearance in an ad during the Super Bowl. In this year’s 15-second spot, Andy Cohen, a TV show host on Bravo, tries Nerds Juicy Gummy Clusters by the pool and says to the personified candy character, Gummy, “Woah, you’re juicy and mega now? This is huge! We gotta show the world the new you!” Then, the two parade down a red carpet together. Nerds revealed the bigger, juicer version of its gummy clusters in September. This year, there will be a new Mexican restaurant at 7240 Madison St., where the Archery Custom Shop closed in 2023. Bàrbaro Taquería’s y Cantina aims to open before summer to sell tacos and Mexican street food inspired by family recipes and inspiration from around the world. When college friends and Chicago residents Hector Herrera and David Morales discovered the old archery space on Madison Street, the pair got excited about expanding their Humboldt Park restaurant, Bàrbaro Taquería. Their second location will bring Bàrbaro staples to Forest Park, like al pastor and carne asada tacos, and mole served over quesadillas or enchiladas. “Not only do we fit into the fabric [of Forest Park] but we will add to it,” Morales said. “We See BÀRBARO on page 4
