Manilva have shown their support for the city of Ceuta The whole of Spain has reacted to the unfortunate illegal invasion of Ceuta and, in solidarity with the rest of Spain
The fast animal transfer centre is functioning well During a visit to Manilva’s temporary animal shelter, Mayor Mario Jiménez and Environment Councillor Pilar Zúñiga reviewed the centre’s role in supporting the Animal Welfare Law. Since January, 134 domestic and wild animals have received care, with 39 rehomed and others reunited with owners or transferred to specialist facilities or natural habitats. The visit also included a review of Local Police actions

and a managed cat shelter, with 36 colonies and 46 registered volunteer caretakers

Citizen collaboration is essential in cleaning the municipality Manilva Town Council continues to improve the cleaning service and demands that the concessionary company comply with the established regulations so that our municipality looks its best. Furthermore, we thank the public for their cooperation in placing bags in the appropriate containers, not littering or discarding materials in unauthorized areas, and using the recycling centre. Everyone's contribution is essential.
Awareness campaign on the proper use of electric scooters The mayor of Manilva and head of citizen security, Mario Jiménez, the councillor for Media, Juan Carlos Morejón, and councilors Laura Salazar and Gema Zotano, together with the head of the Local Police and citizen security agents, presented a video to raise awareness of the proper use of electric scooters. The municipal objective is to ensure that both users and pedestrians have maximum safety and awareness of the danger that its misuse can entail. In the coming days, municipal ordinances detailing the use of electric scooters will come into effect. The professionals at RTV Municipal have produced this video in collaboration with the Local Police.
Below are highlights of some of the new complaints/suggestions we received from various people, which we now convey to the Mayor: Too many drivers have been inconsiderate when taking two spaces to park or when they park so badly that all other cars on the same lot cannot fit in their space. These drivers should be fined to discourage them or have the cars removed. Some residents have criticised the blocking of a whole main street for party celebrations and loud music until the early hours. The traffic lights at the roundabout and the pedestrian crossings have caused large traffic jams when other traffic keeps coming on the roundabout from other directions. Dangerous use of electric scooters and bikes on the road and on the pavements and Paseo Maritimo. Something should be done to protect pedestrians. It is obvious that scooters users totally ignore the law and it is necessary to start impose some fines to encourage the correct use of these vehicles. The campaign for the proper use is clearly ignored by many. Some drivers have complained at having to lose their parking spaces on processions day when it is obvious there is plenty of road space for the procession to get through. How long can cars park in the street parking space? Many summer visitors seem to use the space for the duration of their holiday when local residents, who pay the Council for the use of the local roads, are forced to park long distances away from their homes. Such drivers should be made to park in the appropriate long term parking areas including and especially caravan drivers.

With open dialogue and collective effort, we can support the new mayor in developing positive, lasting solutions that continue to improve the quality of life for everyone in the Manilva area. Sauvignon Blanc & Steamed Mussels with Garlic Toast Ingredients 4 THICK SLICES OF WHITE PEASANT BREAD 1/4 CUP EXTRA-VIRGIN OLIVE OIL, PLUS MORE FOR BRUSHING 2 GARLIC CLOVES, PEELED (1 LEFT WHOLE, 1 THINLY SLICED) 1 MEDIUM SHALLOT, MINCED KOSHER SALT FRESHLY GROUND BLACK PEPPER 4 POUNDS MUSSELS, SCRUBBED 1 1/2 CUPS SAUVIGNON BLANC OR OTHER DRY WHITE WINE 4 TABLESPOONS UNSALTED BUTTER, AT ROOM TEMPERATURE 1/4 CUP COARSELY CHOPPED FLAT-LEAF PARSLEY
INSTRUCTIONS Preheat the broiler. Brush the bread with olive oil and transfer to a baking sheet. Broil the bread a few inches from the heat, turning once, for 2 minutes, until golden and toasted. Lightly rub the whole garlic clove over the toasts. In a large, deep pot, heat the 1/4 cup of olive oil. Add the shallot and sliced garlic, season lightly with salt and pepper, and cook over high heat, stirring, until the garlic is softened and lightly browned, about 3 minutes. Add the mussels and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add the wine, cover, and steam the mussels until they open, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the mussels to four deep bowls, discarding any mussels that do not open. Add the butter and parsley to the broth, swirling and shaking the pot until the butter melts. Slowly pour the broth over the mussels, stopping before you reach the grit at the bottom of the pot. Serve the 23 mussels with the garlic toasts.

META IS CHANGING ITS AI AFTER IT ASKED INVASIVE PERSONAL QUESTIONS ABOUT A USER'S CHILDREN A viral video showed Meta AI generating a detailed profile of a mother's two daughters, including their ages, school grade, and location Meta says it has fixed its AI chatbot after a viral video revealed the tool prompting a user to investigate the identity of her child and then assembling a detailed profile of her two daughters from years of posts across Meta platforms. Last week, Utah-based Instagram user Kalie Robins posted a video describing what happened after she cross-posted a car video of herself and one of her daughters to Facebook. When she returned to the post, Meta AI had surfaced a suggested prompt reading "Who is the child passenger?" according to Futurism. Robins said she engaged with the feature to see where it would lead. According to Futurism, the AI identified not just the daughter visible in the clip but also her second daughter, apparently by aggregating years of content posted across Meta platforms — material that had been uploaded largely by relatives, grandparents among them. From there, the chatbot continued offering additional suggested prompts, including questions about the girls' ages, what grade they were in, their favourite books and trails, and where Robins lives with her family. One prompt encouraged Robins to ask: "Where does Kalie Robins live?" Robins said her accounts were public but that she had taken steps she believed would protect her children's privacy. She told Futurism she had never publicized her daughters' names in her own posts. The AI pulled the names from content shared by relatives, including a Facebook post by a grandmother that included a photo of one of the girls as a new-born. Meta spokesperson Dina El-Kassaby, in comments provided to The Verge, acknowledged the company "missed the mark" and stated that "the feature never should have prompted the individual with questions like that." El-Kassaby added that the problem has been corrected, and emphasized that the feature is designed so that any information surfaced reflects only what the user could already see themselves.
Meta has built its AI assistant into Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. The episode is not the first time Meta's AI tools have raised security concerns — the company's AI support chatbot was exploited by hackers to take over Instagram accounts, including those belonging to high-profile users, before Meta patched that vulnerability. In the wake of the incident, Robins has reached out to family members asking them to delete or restrict posts, a task she said has been emotionally difficult for relatives who relied on those posts to document important moments in their lives.

Those who spoke two languages had brains that appeared around six years younger, while those fluent in four languages appeared to have brains that looked 13 years younger. The findings don’t prove that learning a language prevents ageing, but they reinforce a broader truth: our brains thrive on challenge. The mind ages naturally. Curiosity slows the process. THE DEGREE DIVIDE. For generations, a university degree was seen as the surest route to a successful career. But according to a new OECD report that advantage is beginning to erode. EMERGE UNA APASIONADA Y ROTUNDA VOZ FLAMENCA MANILVEÑA Juan Emilio Ríos Vera Hace ya muchos años que tengo el privilegio de conocer a mi querida Nieves Rojas Vázquez y desde entonces no ha dejado de sorprenderme su gran capacidad para la creatividad y la emoción. Primero me cautivó como bailaora flamenca, maravillándome con su expresividad y su contundencia. Era como si se transformara en otra persona, en un alter ego que reduplicara su energía y su pasión, convirtiéndose en un huracán de brazos, manos y piernas que volaban hasta conseguir la catarsis de los sentidos. La Nieves que conocía se prendía fuego cuando sonaba la música flamenca e incendiaba el ambiente, contagiando su pulsión arrolladora a todos los espectadores, que no daban crédito a la extraordinaria metamorfosis que experimentaba nuestra amiga. Luego la conocí en su faceta de poeta, teniendo el placer de tenerla como alumna en mi escuela de escritura creativa de Sabinillas. Allí descubrí a una pupila con inmensas ganas de aprender y de aprehender conocimientos de forma fluida y continua. No paraba de trabajar, de experimentar con las palabras, de ejercitar de forma práctica lo que primero se impartía de forma teórica. Tenía desde el principio muy claro que sus poemas estarían enfocados de forma prioritaria al universo del flamenco, honrando a sus cantaores y bailaoras de cabecera, homenajeando a los más grandes guitarristas, sacándole jugo a lo que Federico García Lorca llamaba el duende y los sonidos negros que nacían de las entrañas más profundas e íntimas del sentimiento, experimentando con las estrofas flamencas con un interés inusitado y desbordante. De esta forma fue tomando cuerpo este poemario que hoy tengo el privilegio de prologar y que ha titulado de forma sabia Ecos de flamenquería. Leyendo el poemario, percibes perfectamente cómo es la voz poética de su autora: lo primero que le interesa es ahondar en el misterio del flamenco, sacando partido a ese pellizco profundo que siente cuando escucha esa música ancestral y arrebatadora y como su cuerpo y su mente se transforma a su dictado. Además, nos damos cuenta de que Nieves se centra sobre todo en como la mujer participa de una forma activa y fundamental mediante el baile principalmente, pero también a través del cante o incluso del recitado de poemas flamencos. Ella misma es una excelente rapsodia que convierte en monumento cad a uno de sus poemas cuando los recita, acompañada de una guitarra bien temperada. Su voz se agiganta y toma tintes de himno cada una de sus composiciones pues es tan certera la rima que utiliza y es tan apropiado el léxico que emplea y son tan expresivos los silencios y las cesuras y las pausas que el poema adquiere dimensiones extraordinarias, sorprendiendo al público.
