Due to the recent incident about HANTAVIRUS, The Mayor ordered Manilva City Council to begin a pest control campaign in the municipal sewer network to improve public health and hygiene. Councillors Marcos Ruiz and Gema Zotano joined Hidralia workers as treatments started across the town. Insect control runs from May to July, rodent control from July to September Residents can report pest issues year-round through the Town Hall registry

WestNileviruspreventionplan

Manilva Health Councillor Juan Carlos Morejón met with a Health Delegation inspector from the Costa del Sol Health District as part of monitoring under the West Nile Virus Prevention Plan. The plan was successfully implemented last year, so only minor adjustments are needed while maintaining the medium risk level set by the Junta de Andalucía. A public information campaign through local media will also encourage residents to support prevention efforts.

Business owners and residents from Puerto de la Duquesa met with Manilva mayor Mario Jiménez, councillors, the Civil Guard, and Local Police to discuss security concerns. Measures included extended police patrols, encouraging crime reporting, and continued efforts to reduce insecurity across the municipality. The Civil Guard promoted electronic complaint filing and provided business security advice. Port business schedules and licences were also reviewed to improve coexistence and organisation.

Improvementandadaptationofparkingnexttothegreenroom

The Manilva Town Hall Infrastructure and Works Department has completed improvement works in the parking area beside Salón Verde on Manuel de Falla Street, linking Puerto de la Duquesa and El Castillo. Supervised by Councillor Marcos Ruiz and director Alejandro Medina, crews removed rubbish, pruning waste, and dry vegetation to improve safety and appearance. The works also reduced fire risks near homes and prepared the area for the tourist season. Residents are reminded to use the recycling centre to prevent illegal dumping, while the community of owners will manage improvements inside the urbanisation.

It is worth remembering that the commitment of the mayor of Manilva and top official responsible for citizen security, Mario Jiménez, is to increase the Local Police force with 15 new officers.

The mayor of Manilva, Mario Jiménez, together with the councillor for Infrastructure, Works and Urbanizations, Marcos Ruiz, have visited the Cortijos Altos area, in the vicinity of Hacho, to attend first-hand to the residents affected by a historical problem in the sanitation network

The City Council will carry out work on the access road with the aim of solving this problem effectively. In a parallel and coordinated manner, the community of owners will assume the actions within the urbanization

IS DIGITAL MARKETING REALLY AS EFFECTIVE AS WE’RE TOLD?

The result? A growing number of digital marketing providers aggressively promoting social media and online campaigns as the cheapest and supposedly most effective solution for businesses Alongside this comes a persistent narrative that traditional print advertising is outdated or obsolete. But is that really true?

As the Costa del Sol continues to grow in popularity, so too does the number of businesses competing for attention. From estate agencies to lifestyle services, new companies are appearing at an unprecedented rate many operating with little more than a laptop and a Wi-Fi connection

Nowhere is this trend more visible than in the rise of home-based estate agents and freelance digital marketers, many working informally from apartments, cafés, or co-working spaces with minimal overheads While this accessibility has created opportunities, it has also fuelled intense competition and a flood of online advertising.

Digital marketing certainly has its strengths. Online platforms can deliver fast exposure, detailed analytics, and broad reach when campaigns are managed effectively However, the idea that digital advertising alone is enough for longterm business growth is increasingly being questioned.

Today’s online world is saturated. Consumers are exposed to thousands of adverts every day, often scrolling past them within seconds. On Facebook, advertisements appear and disappear almost instantly. Instagram stories are designed to be temporary and fleeting. Google search results are crowded with paid promotions from businesses across the globe, many competing for the same keywords regardless of location or relevance.

For consumers, the experience can feel overwhelming Social media platforms are often filled with casual sellers, low-cost operators, and businesses with little brand credibility, making it difficult to distinguish trusted providers from the rest.

Ironically, while businesses continue investing heavily in digital marketing, research suggests consumers still place greater trust in traditional media. Studies have shown that advertisements in magazines and newspapers consistently achieve higher levels of credibility and recall than many online formats. Print offers something digital cannot: permanence, focus, and physical engagement

Unlike online adverts that vanish with a swipe, magazines remain in homes, offices, and waiting rooms for weeks or even months. Readers spend more concentrated time with printed content, creating stronger brand awareness and a more memorable advertising experience Equally important, print advertising exists in a far less cluttered environment, allowing businesses to stand out rather than compete against an endless stream of online distractions.

This is why many successful businesses are rediscovering the value of combining traditional and digital marketing rather than treating them as rivals. Print and digital work best together.
