Leading the sale, estimated at $180,000–$200,000, is Percy Marks' “Colour of the Kimberleys” necklace, an important sculptural design by Jennie Lo Russo for the Australian Gemmological Association Jewellery Competition and handcrafted in 18-carat white, yellow and rose gold, set with twenty-five natural diamonds documented as originating from the Argyle Diamond Mine. Spanning the pinks, brownishpinks, browns and whites for which Argyle became renowned, and accompanied by its original presentation case, 2001 Percy Marks valuation and a contemporary valuation, the necklace captures a pivotal moment in Australia's diamond history.

18ct Red Gold, Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Flyback Chronograph Wristwatch, circa 2020

In 1953, Blancpain introduced the Fifty Fathoms at the request of French Navy combat swimmer Captain Bob Maloubier, who needed a dive watch that could withstand the pressures of underwater operations. The model became the first modern dive watch, establishing the template for the genre: rotating bezel, luminous dial, and water resistance to 50 fathoms (91 metres). The reference 5085F-3630-52A, introduced in 2007, brought a flyback chronograph to the Fifty Fathoms line in an 18ct red gold case, powered by Blancpain's calibre F185- a self-winding column-wheel chronograph with flyback function that allows the chronograph to be reset and restarted with a single pusher press. In 1970, an oxygen tank exploded aboard Apollo 13, 200,000 miles from Earth. With all electronic systems powered down to conserve energy, the crew had to execute a critical 14-second engine burn entirely by hand. Astronaut Jack Swigert timed the burn on his OMEGA Speedmaster chronograph, correcting the spacecraft's trajectory and bringing the crew home alive. Seven months later, in October 1970, NASA presented OMEGA with the Silver Snoopy Award, a rare honour given by astronauts for contributions to flight safety and mission success. Snoopy had been NASA's official safety mascot since 1968, and the award remains one of the most coveted recognitions in aerospace. This is the 50th anniversary iteration to commemorate the speedmaster receiving this award.

The Royal Oak itself carries one of the most fascinating origin stories in horology. The name was inspired by the hollowed oak tree in which King Charles II of England hid from Cromwell's Roundheads following the Battle of Worcester in 1651. This legendary tree gave its name to eight Royal Navy vessels, and ultimately to the watch itself: a fitting connection, as the octagonal bezel mirrors the eight ships of the line. The name was proposed by Italian agent Carlo de Marchi in December 1971, drawing on themes of strength, protection, and legend. The watch was designed overnight by Gérald Genta on the eve of the 1971 Basel Fair, inspired by a diver's helmet he saw on the shores of Lake Geneva. The visible hexagonal screws, the integrated bracelet, and the industrial aesthetic were revolutionary in 1972, so much so that the steel watch was priced at 3,750 Swiss Francs, more expensive than a gold Patek Philippe and twelve times the price of a Rolex Submariner. Initially, the market was sceptical; Martin Wehrli, former director of AP's museum, recalled that while visitors praised the watch at the booth, "around the corner they said, 'They'll be bankrupt in 6 months.'" The turnaround came around 1974, when the watch was seen on the wrist of Gianni Agnelli, the ultimate Italian playboy industrialist. This ignited a wave of desire that swept through global elite circles. The earliest known tantalum watch was commissioned by King Juan Carlos I of Spain, an avid hunter and watch collector, who sought a Royal Oak with a more subdued, stealth-like appearance to prevent reflections from startling his prey in the field. He had previously given one of his Royal Oaks to his gunsmith, who attempted to apply a bluing technique similar to that used on hunting rifle barrels, but the results proved unsatisfactory. The King then turned directly to Audemars Piguet, who devised a solution by using tantalum.

This is an exceptionally rare and highly collectible reference. According to Audemars Piguet's official archives, only 73 units of the 15000TR were produced between 1997 and 2003, with 47 of those sold in 1997 alone. The combination of tantalum a deep grey, hypoallergenic metal that does not tarnish over time with pink gold is considered one of the most striking and difficult-to-execute two-tone configurations in the Royal Oak catalogue. Tantalum is notoriously difficult to machine and polish, making these pieces particularly scarce. This specific example features the rare gold dial variant, which creates a warm and cohesive aesthetic against the pink gold accents and the deep grey tantalum case and bracelet. The watch is powered by the ultra-compact self-winding Calibre 2140, originally developed for this 33mm "intermediate size" model, which was marketed as suitable for both men and women. The bracelet bears Reference 789 and was manufactured by GTF, the same supplier used for the original 5402ST. The case was produced by Favre Perret, the same case maker responsible for the very first Royal Oak references. Complete with box and papers, this represents a significant opportunity for collectors of neo-vintage Audemars Piguet.

Stainless Steel, Glash SeaQ Automatic Divers Wristwatch, circa 2022

The town of Glashütte was engineered as the centre of fine German watchmaking in 1845, but the 20th century nearly erased it. During the Second World War and the decades of partition that followed, the region's scattered manufactures were consolidated into a single state-owned entity: VEB Glashütte Uhrenbetriebe, or GUB. Under this enforced collectivisation, the watchmakers of Glashütte continued to build instruments not for luxury, but for function for the communist market. In 1969, GUB produced the Spezimatic Typ RP TS 200, East Germany's first dedicated dive watch, powered by the Cal. 75 and built for the Volksmarine and export markets alike that Cold War tool design watch lay dormant for decades until the SeaQ revival of 2019. Since its debut, the SeaQ has been praised by collectors and critics alike as a rare German counter-punch to Swiss dive-watch dominance with ISO-certification, being competitively priced and visually distinct.

In 2012, filmmaker and deep-sea explorer James Cameron piloted the Deepsea Challenger submersible to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, descending 10,908 metres to the deepest known point on Earth- the Challenger Deep. It was a feat of human endurance and engineering that Rolex had a direct hand in: a prototype experimental watch, the Deepsea Challenge, was fixed to the submersible's robotic arm and survived the crushing pressure at full ocean depth, confirming that the technology developed for the Sea-Dweller could withstand forces no human had previously dared to face, launched in 2014 to coincide with the release of Cameron's documentary "Deepsea Challenge", this dial variant - the "D-Blue" carries the story of the descent itself. The gradient shifts from brilliant blue at the surface to pitch black at 6 o'clock, charting the loss of light as one descends through the water column. The "DEEPSEA" text on the dial is rendered in the same bright green as Cameron's submersible, a deliberate reference to the craft that carried him down to the abyss.

Only few athletes are celebrated and honoured as three-time Heavyweight Champion of the world, Muhammad Ali, whose legendary moments in sports and civil rights activism made him one of the most influential athletes and humanitarians of the 20th century. As an athlete, Ali shook up the world with his strength, skill, and personality, becoming Heavyweight Champion of the world at just 22 years old. His greatest results triumph, however, resulted from his humanitarian efforts. Paraiba tourmaline is a rare gemstone famous for its electric, almost glowing blue-to-green colour that looks like a swimming pool lit from within. It was first discovered in the 1980s in a small Brazilian state called Paraíba, and what makes it special is trace amounts of copper inside the crystal, that copper gives it a vivid neon hue you don't see in other tourmalines. Since that original Brazilian mine is nearly exhausted, the colour is so striking and the supply is tiny, it commands some of the highest prices of any coloured gemstone, often beating out sapphires rubies and even some diamonds carat for carat.

Stainless Steel, IWC Portugieser Chronograph Wristwatch, circa 2011

In 1939, two Portuguese businessmen, Rodrigues and Teixeira arrived at the IWC manufacture in Schaffhausen with an unusual request. They wanted all the precision of a marine chronometer in a wristwatch format. The result was the Portugieser, a 43mm stainless steel watch powered by a pocket watch movement, breaking entirely with the prevailing fashion of small, decorative Art Deco pieces. It was a watch built for calculation and its Arabic numerals, leaf-shaped hands, an almost non-existent bezel, and a functional minutes track has remained intact for over eight decades.

Stainless Steel, Zenith El Primero Chronomaster VHP Chronograph Wristwatch, circa 2014

The Zenith El Primero is the only chronograph movement in continuous production since 1969 a survivor that outlasted the Quartz Crisis while rivals mothballed their own mechanical movements. What made it indispensable was its 36,000 vph high-frequency architecture: fully integrated, columnwheel actuated, and slim enough at 6.5 mm to slip into any case. It powered everyone else's chronographs when they couldn't build one themselves.

The Rolex Day-Date is arguably the most culturally significant wristwatch ever produced. Introduced in 1956, it was the first wristwatch in the world to display both the date and the day of the week spelt out in full—a complication that seems simple today but was revolutionary at the time. The mechanism was invented by Rolex engineer Marc Huguenin and patented in 1955, a full year before the watch launched. The 1803 reference, introduced in 1959 and produced through 1976, is the definitive vintage Day-Date and the last to feature the beloved "pie-pan" dial: where the outer edge slopes downward, creating a subtle three-dimensional effect that catches light beautifully across the champagne surface.

The "President" nickname is more than marketing folklore. Lyndon B. Johnson was the first US President to wear the Day-Date in office, and Rolex advertisements from the era explicitly referred to it as "the President's Watch." The name stuck, and the three-link bracelet became known as the President bracelet still exclusive to the Day-Date line today. Johnson's patronage cemented the watch as the ultimate symbol of executive power, a status it has never relinquished.

The 1966 production year places this watch squarely in the golden age of the 1803. It is powered by the Calibre 1556, introduced in the mid-1960s as an upgrade to the earlier 1555, featuring a higher beat rate of 19,800 vibrations per hour and 26 jewels. Notably, this was the first fully in-house movement for the Day-Date, earlier calibres had been outsourced.

The pop culture credentials are unmatched. In David Mamet's "Glengarry Glen Ross' (1992), Alec Baldwin's character Blake delivers his infamous "Always be closing" speech while brandishing a yellow gold Day-Date, snarling: "You see this watch? This watch cost more than your car." It is the ultimate cinematic totem of wealth and dominance. Tony Soprano, played by James Gandolfini in HBO's "The Sopranos", wore a yellow gold Day-Date as his signature timepiece—a deliberate choice by the wardrobe department to telegraph power and old-money status. Warren Buffett, one of the world's wealthiest men, has worn the same yellow gold Day-Date for decades and reportedly once tried to buy Rolex itself, he was, as one might say, rebuffed.

In the sporting world, the Day-Date achieved perhaps its most poignant chapter with Jack Nicklaus. Rolex presented the golf legend with a yellow gold 1803 in 1967 the first watch he ever owned. He wore it for 12 of his 18 Major Championship victories, including his 1967 U.S. Open win where he set a scoring record of 275. Nicklaus put the watch on after every tournament win for over 50 years, and when he finally auctioned it through Phillips in 2019, it sold for approximately $1.2 million USD, with all proceeds donated to the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation. Arnold Palmer and Gary Player, the other two members of golf's "Big Three" were also Day-Date wearers, creating an unbroken chain of champions associated with the model.

The champagne dial on this example is the quintessential Day-Date configuration, warm, legible, and endlessly elegant. The "Steve McQueen" nickname is a half-century-old marketing fiction—McQueen never wore the 1655. The Submariner 5512 was his Rolex of choice, and on screen he made the TAG Heuer Monaco immortal in "Le Mans". The name stuck because Rolex allegedly leveraged his image in Italian marketing materials, and collectors ran with it. The watch's real moniker is "Freccione" Italian for "big arrow" earned by that oversized orange 24-hour hand, originally crimson red in early catalogues but faded by time and tritium decay into the pale yellow-white "albino" variant seen here. This ghosting isn't damage; it's patina earned over five decades, turning the once-flame-coloured arrow into a spectral cream pointer that transforms the dial's character from tool-watch aggression to muted rarity. A 1974 example sits in the sweet spot: early enough to carry the straight seconds hand and MK2 dial details, late enough to have settled into the colour shift that makes an albino 1655 one of the most visually distinct grails in vintage Rolex collecting.

Launched in late 2017 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Gulf Racing and a connection that had existed in the collective minds of TAG Heuer collectors for decades. The Monaco itself needs little introduction. Introduced in 1969 it was an audacious design from Jack Heuer that took its name from the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix. Steve McQueen's choice to wear it throughout the filming of "Le Mans" transformed it into one of the most recognisable wristwatches in cinema and motorsport history.

The Gulf connection, however, was never an official brand partnership during McQueen's era, it was born from the livery of the Porsche 917K he drove and from the white racing suit adorned with Gulf stripes that he wore on screen. This watch featuring the historically accurate left-side crown and right-side chronograph pushers that hark back to the 1969 original. The dial is a sunray-brushed metallic blue overlaid with Gulf's signature light blue and vivid orange vertical stripes.

In the spring of 1970, Steve McQueen arrived at the Le Mans circuit to begin filming what would become the definitive motorsport film of its era. Determined to inhabit the persona of Swiss racing driver Jo Siffert whose style and competitive spirit he deeply admired, McQueen scrutinised every detail of Siffert's appearance. The racing suit, the sunglasses, the demeanour, all were carefully replicated. But it was the watch on Siffert's wrist that would prove the most consequential choice. Siffert was a Heuer ambassador, and his personal timepiece was the recently launched Monaco reference 1133B, a square-cased, blue-dial automatic chronograph that Jack Heuer had introduced just a year earlier. McQueen, insisted on wearing exactly what Siffert wore. He contacted Jack Heuer, and a supply of blue-dial Monaco's arrived on set. The resulting image of McQueen in his white Gulf-liveried racing suit, blue Heuer Monaco on his wrist, and Porsche 917K in the background, became one of the most enduring photographs in cinema history. The watch became McQueen's personal timepiece throughout filming, and he was so taken with it that he reportedly purchased several examples for friends and crew members.

Manual-Wound Wristwatch, circa 2006

Panerai began in 1860 as a Florentine watch shop, watchmaking school and patent office. In 1916 the firm patented Radiomir, a radium-based luminous compound that let Italian Navy frogmen read their instruments in the black depths of the Mediterranean. The cushion-case prototype made in conjunction with Rolex using Cortebert movements followed in 1936, built for the Decima Flottiglia MAS commandos with a dial format so legible it remained classified until the 1990s. The PAM00210, was produced from 2005 to 2012 with no date, no crown guards, no complications just like the original 1936 Radiomir.

Launched in 2016 to mark Montblanc's 110th anniversary, the 4810 ExoTourbillon Slim blends the maison's most advanced mechanical innovations with classical finishing. This reference was nominated in the Tourbillon category at the 2016 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève and features the patented ExoTourbillon mechanism, a novel design in which the balance wheel is placed outside the rotating cage. This allows for improved isochronism and higher efficiency by reducing inertia and isolating the regulating organ. 4.6. Telephone Bids

1. Background to the Terms used in these Conditions

The conditions that are listed below contain terms that are used regularly and may need explanation. They are as follows:

“the Buyer” means the person with the highest bid accepted by the Auctioneer.

“the Lot” means any item depicted within the sale for auction and in particular the item or items described against any lot number in the catalogue.

“the Hammer price” means the amount of the highest bid accepted by the auctioneer in relation to a lot.

“the Buyer’s Premium” means the charge payable by the Buyer to the auction house as a percentage of the hammer price.

“the Reserve” means the lowest amount at which Webb’s has agreed with the Seller that the lot can be sold.

“Forgery” means an item constituting an imitation originally conceived and executed as a whole, with a fraudulent intention to deceive as to authorship, origin, age, period, culture or source, where the correct description as to such matters is not reflected by the description in the catalogue. Accordingly, no lot shall be capable of being a forgery by reason of any damage or restoration work of any kind (Including re-painting).

“the insured value” means the amount that Webb’s in its absolute discretion from time to time shall consider the value for which a lot should be covered for insurance (whether or not insurance is arranged by Webb’s).

All values expressed in Webb’s catalogues (in any format) are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD$). All bids, “hammer price”, “reserves”, “Buyers Premium” and other expressions of value are understood by all parties to be in New Zealand Dollars (NZD$) unless otherwise specified.

2. Webb’s Auctions as Agent

Except as otherwise stated, Webb’s acts as agent for the Seller.

The contract for the sale of the property is therefore made between the Seller and the Buyer.

3. Before the Sale

3.1. Examination of Property Prospective Buyers are strongly advised to examine in person any property in which they are interested before the Auction takes place. Neither Webb’s nor the Seller provides any guarantee in relation to the nature of the property apart from the Limited warranty in the paragraph below.

The property is otherwise sold “AS IS”

3.2. Catalogue and Other Descriptions

All statements by Webb’s in the catalogue entry for the property or in the condition report, or made orally or in writing elsewhere, are statements of opinion and are not to be relied upon as statements of fact. Such statements do not constitute a representation, warranty or assumption of liability by Webb’s of any kind. References in the catalogue entry to the condition report to damage or restoration are for guidance only and should be evaluated by personal inspection by the bidder or a knowledgeable representative. The absence of such a reference does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of any others. Estimates of the selling price should not be relied on as a statement that this is the price at which the item will sell or its value for any other purpose. Neither Webb’s nor The Seller is responsible for any errors or omissions in the catalogue or any supplemental material.

Images are measured height by width (sight size). Illustrations are provided only as a guide and should not be relied upon as a true representation of colour or condition. Images are not shown at a standard scale. Mention is rarely made of frames (which may be provided as supplementary images on the website) which do not form part of the lot as described in the printed catalogue.

4. At the Sale

4.1. Refusal of Admission

Webb’s reserves the right at our complete discretion to refuse admission to the auction premises or participation in any auction and to reject any bid.

4.2. Registration Before Bidding

Any prospective new buyer must complete and sign a registration form and provide photo identification before bidding. Webb’s may request bank, trade or other financial references to substantiate this registration.

4.3. Bidding as a Principal

When making a bid, a bidder is accepting personal liability to pay the purchase price including the buyer’s premium and all applicable taxes, plus all other applicable charges, unless it has been explicitly agreed in writing with Webb’s before the commencement of the sale that the bidder is acting as agent on behalf of an identified third party acceptable to Webb’s and that Webb’s will only look to the principal for payment.

4.4. International Registrations

All International clients not known to Webb’s will be required to scan or fax through an accredited form of photo identification and pay a deposit at our discretion in cleared funds into Webb’s account at least 24 hours before the commencement of the auction. Bids will not be accepted without this deposit. Webb’s also reserves the right to request any additional forms of identification prior to registering an overseas bid.

This deposit can be made using a credit card, however the balance of any purchase price in excess of $5,000 cannot be charged to this card without prior arrangement.

This deposit is redeemable against any auction purchase and will be refunded in full if no purchases are made.

4.5. Absentee Bids

Webb’s will use reasonable efforts to execute written bids delivered to us AT LEAST 24 Hours before the sale for the convenience of those clients who are unable to attend the auction in person. If we receive identical written bids on a particular lot, and at the auction these are the highest bids on that lot, then the lot will be sold to the person whose written bid was received and accepted first. Execution of written bids is a free service undertaken subject to other commitments at the time of the sale and we do not accept liability for

You must advise Webb’s of the lots in question, and you will be assumed to be a buyer at the minimum price of 75% of estimate (i.e. reserve) for all such lots. Webb’s will advise Telephone Bidders who have registered at least 24 hours before the auction of any relevant changes to descriptions, withdrawals, or any other sale room notices.

4.7. Online Bidding

Webb’s offers an online bidding service. When bidding online the buyer agrees to be bound by all terms and conditions listed here by Webb’s. Webb’s accepts no responsibility for any errors, failure to execute bids or any other miscommunications regarding this process. It is the online bidder’s responsibility to ensure the accuracy of the relevant information regarding bids, lot numbers and contact details. Webb’s does not charge for this service.

4.8. Reserves

Unless otherwise indicated, all lots are offered subject to a reserve, which is the confidential minimum price below which the Lot will not be sold. The reserve will not exceed the low estimate printed in the catalogue. The auctioneer may open the bidding on any Lot below the reserve by placing a bid on behalf of the Seller. The auctioneer may continue to bid on behalf of seller up to the amount of the reserve, either by placing consecutive bids or by placing bids in response to other bidders.

4.9. Auctioneers Discretion

The Auctioneer has the right at his/her absolute and sole discretion to refuse any bid, to advance the bidding according to the following indicative steps:

5. After the Sale

5.1. Buyers Premium

In addition to the hammer price, the buyer agrees to pay to Webb’s the buyer’s premium. The buyer’s

premium is 19.5% of the hammer price plus GST. (Goods and Services Tax) where applicable.

5.2. Payment and Passing of Title

The buyer must pay the full amount due (comprising the hammer price, buyer’s premium and any applicable taxes and GST) not later than 2 days after the auction date.

The buyer will not acquire title to the lot until Webb’s receives full payment in cleared funds, and no goods under any circumstances will be released without confirmation of cleared funds received. This applies even if the buyer wishes to send items overseas.

Payment can be made by direct transfer, cash (not exceeding NZD$5,000, if wishing to pay more than NZD$5,000 then this must be deposited directly into a Bank of New Zealand branch and bank receipt supplied) and EFTPOS (please check the daily limit). Payments can be made by debit card or credit card in person with a 2.2% merchant fee for Visa, Mastercard and Paywave, and 3.3% for American Express. Invoices that are in excess of $5,000 and where the card holder is not present, cannot be charged to a credit card without prior arrangement. Cheques are no longer accepted.

The buyer is responsible for any bank fees and charges applicable for the transfer of funds into Webb’s account.

5.3. Collection of Purchases & Insurance

Webb’s is entitled to retain items sold until all amounts due to us have been received in full in cleared funds. Subject to this, the Buyer shall collect purchased lots within 2 days from the date of the sale unless otherwise agreed in writing between Webb’s and the Buyer.

At the fall of the hammer, insurance is the responsibility of the purchaser.

5.4. Packing, Handling and Shipping

Webb’s will be able to suggest removals companies that the buyer can use but takes no responsibility whatsoever for the actions of any recommended third party. Webb’s can pack and handle goods purchased at the auction by agreement and a charge will be made for this service. All packing, shipping, insurance, postage & associated charges will be borne by the purchaser.

5.5. Permits, Licences and Certificates

Under The Protected Objects Act 1975, buyers may be required to obtain a licence for certain categories of items in a sale from the Ministry of Culture & Heritage, PO Box 5364, Wellington.

5.6. Remedies for Non-Payment If the Buyer fails to make full payment immediately, Webb’s is entitled to exercise one or more of the following rights or remedies (in addition to asserting any other rights or remedies available under the law)

5.6.1. to charge interest at such a rate as we shall reasonably decide.

5.6.2. to hold the defaulting Buyer liable for the total amount due and to commence legal proceedings for its recovery along with interest, legal fees and costs to the fullest extent permitted under applicable law.

5.6.3. to cancel the sale.

5.6.4. to resell the property publicly or privately on such terms as we see fit.

5.6.5. to pay the Seller an amount up to the net proceeds payable in respect of the amount bid by the defaulting Buyer. In these circumstances the defaulting Buyer can have no claim upon Webb’s in the event that the item(s) are sold for an amount greater than the original invoiced amount.

5.6.6. to set off against any amounts which Webb’s may owe the Buyer in any other transactions, the outstanding amount remaining unpaid by the Buyer.

5.6.7. where several amounts are owed by the Buyer to us, in respect of different transactions, to apply any amount paid to discharge any amount owed in respect of any particular transaction, whether or not the Buyer so directs.

5.6.8. to reject at any future auction any bids made by or on behalf of the Buyer or to obtain a deposit from the Buyer prior to accepting any bids.

5.6.9. to exercise all the rights and remedies of a person holding security over any property in our possession owned by the Buyer whether by way of pledge, security interest or in any other way, to the fullest extent permitted by the law of the place where such property is located. The Buyer will be deemed to have been granted such security to us and we may retain such property as collateral security for said Buyer’s obligations to us.

5.6.10. to take such other action as Webb’s deem necessary or appropriate.

If we do sell the property under paragraph (4), then the defaulting Buyer shall be liable for payment of any deficiency between the total amount originally due to us and the price obtained upon reselling as well as for all costs, expenses, damages, legal fees and commissions and premiums of whatever kinds associated with both sales or otherwise arising from the default.

If we pay any amount to the Seller under paragraph (5) the Buyer acknowledges that Webb’s shall have all of the rights of the Seller, however arising, to pursue the Buyer for such amount.

5.7. Failure to Collect Purchases

Where purchases are not collected within 2 days from the sale date, whether or not payment has been made, we shall be permitted to remove the property to a warehouse at the buyer’s expense, and only release the items after payment in full has been made of removal, storage handling, insurance and any other costs incurred, together with payment of all other amounts due to us.

6. Extent of Webb’s Liability

Webb’s agrees to refund the purchase price in the circumstances of the Limited Warranty set out in paragraph 7 below. Apart from that, neither the Seller nor we, nor any of our employees or agents are responsible for the correctness of any statement of whatever kind concerning any lot, whether written or oral, nor for any other errors or omissions

in description or for any faults or defects in any lots. Except as stated in paragraph 7 below, neither the Seller, ourselves, our officers, agents or employees give any representation warranty or guarantee or assume any liability of any kind in respect of any lot with regard to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, description, size, quality, condition, attribution, authenticity, rarity, importance, medium, provenance, exhibition history, literature or historical relevance. Except as required by local law any warranty of any kind is excluded by this paragraph.

7. Limited Warranty

Subject to the terms and conditions of this paragraph, the Seller warrants for the period of thirty days from the date of the sale that any property described in this catalogue (noting such description may be amended by any saleroom notice or announcement) which is stated without qualification to be the work of a named author or authorship is authentic and not a forgery. The term “Author” or “authorship” refers to the creator of the property or to the period, culture, source, or origin as the case may be, with which the creation of such property is identified in the catalogue.

The warranty is subject to the following:

It does not apply where a) the catalogue description or saleroom notice corresponded to the generally accepted opinion of scholars and experts at the date of the sale or fairly indicated that there was a conflict of opinions, or b) correct identification of a lot can be demonstrated only by means of a scientific process not generally accepted for use until after publication of the catalogue or a process which at the date of the publication of the catalogue was unreasonably expensive or impractical or likely to have caused damage to the property.

The benefits of the warranty are not assignable and shall apply only to the original buyer of the lot as shown on the invoice originally issued by Webb’s when the lot was sold at Auction.

The Original Buyer must have remained the owner of the lot without disposing of any interest in it to any third party.

The Buyer’s sole and exclusive remedy against the Seller in place of any other remedy which might be available, is the cancellation of the sale and the refund of the original purchase price paid for the lot less the buyer’s premium which is non-refundable. Neither the Seller nor Webb’s will be liable for any special, incidental nor consequential damages including, without limitation, loss of profits.

The Buyer must give written notice of claim to us within thirty days of the date of the Auction. The Seller shall have the right, to require the Buyer to obtain two written opinions by recognised experts in the field, mutually acceptable to the Buyer and Webb’s to decide whether or not to cancel the sale under warranty.

The Buyer must return the lot to Seller in the same condition that it was purchased.

8. Severability

If any part of these Conditions of Sale is found by any court to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, that part shall be discounted, and the rest of the Conditions shall continue to be valid to the fullest extent permitted by law.

9. Copyright

The copyright in all images, illustrations and written material produced by Webb’s relating to a lot including the contents of this catalogue, is and shall remain the property at all times of Webb’s and shall not be used by the Buyer, nor by anyone else without our prior written consent. Webb’s and the Seller make no representation or warranty that the Buyer of a property will acquire any copyright or other reproduction rights in it.

10. Law and Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions and any matters concerned with the foregoing fall within the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand, unless otherwise stated.

11. Pre-Sale Estimates

Webb’s publishes with each catalogue our opinion as to the estimated price range for each lot. These estimates are approximate prices only and are not intended to be definitive. They are prepared well in advance of the sale and may be subject to revision. Interested parties should contact Webb’s prior to auction for updated pre-sale estimates and starting prices.

12. Sale Results

Webb’s will provide auction results, which will be available as soon as possible after the sale. Results will include buyer’s premium. These results will be posted at www.webbs.co.nz.

13. Goods and Service Tax

GST is applicable on the hammer price in the case where the seller is selling property that is owned by an entity registered for GST. GST is also applicable on the hammer price in the case where the seller is not a New Zealand resident. These lots are denoted by a dagger symbol † placed next to the estimate.
