EVOLUTION AT THE GATES L’EVOLUZIONE È ALLE PORTE According to the latest Csil report (Centre for Industrial Studies), the turnover of the Contract furniture in Italy is equal to about 800 Millions Euro representing 11% of the total European Market. The enormous expansion of this market in Arab countries, Asia and Russia, which began 15 years ago, has stimulated the rapid growth of the sector in Italy: about half of the market is generated by the hospitality industry. The trend has also been evident in the many exhibitions that now can not ignore this reality. Marmomacc and Abitare il Tempo, for example, have shown that the success of a project is the result of dialogue between client, designer and business. Mood, in Brussels, reserved an area for Contract specialists. The fairs that will come, like Orgatec, MadeExpo, Sun, Interzum, have relaunched their role by focusing on the many facets of the Contract sector, creating exhibitions of design and propose solutions for contractors. Yet, despite the undoubted potential, Italy does not seem to be able to leave behind the stagnation. What is the hitch? The Contract market is an excellent opportunity, but produce the best is no longer enough. Italian Contract needs new specialists, professionals from international scope. That is, investment. Times has already difficult, and the field of Contract - due to its

divisionecontract editoriale

characteristics - adds difficulty: finding resources is hard, production and timing of payment are long. Contract do not produce immediate income but it will produce later. This intermediate stage, the "waiting time" is the “yellow traffic light” of the Italian Contract system. Decipher the duration is the first step to shorten it. This will be the next major milestone for all players in the sector. For us, the goal is to continue to tell you about the many aspects of a world in constant evolution. To make it more clear, accessible and cost effective. Thanks for your attention and good reading of Divisione Contract/three.

Looking deeply at the saturation of the retail channel and to competition from lowcost countries in some foreign markets, many Italian furnishings companies have seen in turnkey projects, if not the only, mode of growth. However, what could be a response to the crisis and the possibility of international expansion has not led in many cases to the expected results and "contract" remains a business with dark sides. Making contract means abandoning the role of producer for becoming a complex service. Gabriella Lojacono, Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at Bocconi University, discusses the impact of this change of role (and skills) for furniture companies in terms of organizational structure, corporate communications and product partners within the chain, vertical integration strategies internal documentation and evaluation of performance. Assuming that contract is dynamic and nuanced, especially when compared with the retail and especially considering the Italian context, it is more significant to clear what is not a turnkey project contract. 1. In Italy many companies furnishing exchange a sale of a thousand chairs catalog as contract, while it is a good supply. 2. Contract is not only the construction of a hotel. 3. It is not a corporate division. It may not be necessary as models for making contract are different.

CONTRACT: AN INTERNATIONA MODE FOR THE FURNISHING divisionecontract FOCUS

4. This is not a growth abroad easy and competitors. In this context we are not talking about products, but services, wanting to engage in the contract then it is necessary to reform the company and it is not easy because foreign companies are very well laid out and with financial capabilities. The contract is therefore not an easier way compared to retail to conquer foreign markets. 5. Another myth to dispel is the belief that if you have a business, you have the synergies and simply replicate the contract mode of communication and distribution to achieve results. In this way, however, you do not reinvest in the contract, keep in mind that it is a different way of working, and target messages are different. We need to know who to address the communication policies. Profitability, or the importance of evaluating the gain that you can have from the contract is crucial. The gain should not be considered for each contract, but for the entire sector. Contract may be a good opportunity to see whether or not the company makes must structure its accounting system and information otherwise causes a loss of energy. At the other extreme, the undertaking contract, we have the traditional enterprise: one that produces the products, where one reasons to sampling, pricing, fulfillment, catalog and where do you design.

AL EL

Unlike the traditional one, the firm contract, from the point of view of civil, is a contractor, in the pure sense of the word means to make project management and provides a turnkey service. This may be an enterprise of furniture that has decided to diversify the business and become firm that does contract, or only do contract. The design is very important, it can affect a 6% on the final but is responsible for 70% of the costs that are hired, if you make a mistake in any design can cause problems on the cost of work in progress. It is therefore essential to control the budget, sometimes it does the same firm contract, in other cases there is a figure who is dealing with interest for the customer. An important feature, in addition to the dynamic nature of the business is the flexibility, we have an element of inflexibility that is vertical integration, fixed costs and production create rigidity. For this contract the firm does not produce but does outsourcing. Care must be taken not to contaminate the two business because you can demolish the reputation gained in the traditional business. The players in the contract: taking as example the construction of a hotel, the case of the best known and which allows to generalize showing various facets. The starting point is the owner and / or developer that may coincide with the operator. The owner is the one who owns the land and the developer decides to develop a project, the customer is in fact one can then trust to the operator. The other entities involved in the definition of the specifications are: the architectural firm and interior design studio. This is an element of evolution. Before it was all about interior design studio, now, on example of America, but even more in the Far East, these two roles are more and more separated, so on one hand you have the architectural firm that does its job architectural and structural are then involved the interior design studio involved in furnishing, interior. To contract the big studios have developed at the local level, for example, in Russia there are many bench office of American studies, the more you move to the east is more important presence in both the study and for companies. Only in a few cases, the brand value exceeds the value of local production. Another figure of the system is the general contractor contract that exists to coordinate all actors and can be supported by the company and the procurement cost controller which depends dall'owner and operator. Finally we find manufacturers and suppliers: there are sub-contractors who will supply the room for example. The sample room can be made only from the bed area, extend or include entrance to the bathroom. If we think of the furniture companies will get sup-

pliers for the bathroom area for example. The contract requires a knowledge of the social and economic depth, too often companies know how many countries export but do not know the specifics and the characters. For example, in China, the role of the state is very influential, so the first things that architectural and interior design firm they did was establish relations with the government. The architectural firm must have a local office or at least a local partner. What are the sectors of the contract? Ospitality (airports, stations), commercial (restaurants, bars, shops, shopping centers), business (offices, banks), theaters, museums, then there are universities, public administrations, the naval sector and the hospital sector for now is less known but could be a possibility for the future. Contract, then, does not mean creating a division. It is needed when the level of complexity is significant and to understand it you have to ask yourself a series of questions about their work. There is a need to split the company: too much complexity also makes it difficult to measure the results. The main competitors can be divided into two categories: there are the companies who split their nature, and thus covering both retail and to contract, and the contract companies that have nothing to do with the production. With regard to the communication you need to first define the target Architects, owner and developer or general contractor? Must be mapped subsequently you think about what to communicate and how to do it eventually. You can communicate with cd rom for architects, with a catalog of achievements, with special events, but the most important thing is the road show, has no equal and should be done periodically. Returning to the need to assess the profitability of the contract, you have to wonder why we work in this industry to diversify, enter new markets or because it is an absolute must in some contexts (for example in America with regard to kitchen and bathroom contract is a forced choice). The contract may in fact be a source of income but under certain conditions. To appreciate it you must have an analytical accounting system that helps us to think in terms of orders, it is not easy because the company lacks the information

to be retrieved in different contexts. The key issue is to understand what are the variable costs of the project specifics and shared. If there is a part of research and development who works for the contract and for retail to be spun off, for example you can count the hours / commitment of the people or share turnover. You have to at least try to get to calculate a net margin or net income of the project, at least at first just to make it part of contract, to see if you are making or not. In conclusion, the contract may represent an interesting opportunity for the development of sales for SMEs in the Italian system furniture: there is indeed a limit to advance to benefit from this market. It is important, however, to summarize what has emerged from our analysis, highlight some aspects which, in our opinion, are particularly important to be able to operate successfully in this market. The contract is not reserved for large businesses or brands, as is often believed: there is no room for anyone with specific competencies, capacity is not used, the ability to contact and sales, organizational attitude and proper mindset. The essential point is to decide clearly the segment to which it is addressed to choose what to offer to potential customers; In fact, as the offer is clear and evident advantages for the customer, the more effective the promotion and sale. Imagine that it is the fund for hospitality, but the considerations are valid for any choice you decide to do. In this case, to be able to obtain interesting results, the choice of potential clients should be made taking into account the size of the hotel, the style of furniture, the number of stars and the place where it is located. The contact, as the case may be done through the hotel property, if it comes to small structures, or, better, through the study of architecture responsible for the project, or if it is orders of relevant dimension, through the 'interior contractor or the general contractor. To sell products in the catalog or they must have a strong identity (often these are products of design) or a particularly attractive price. To produce specific furniture to order, whether of hotel rooms or the lobby, you must have strong organizational ability and achievement. To solve the problem fully furnishing of rooms, bathrooms and common areas,

as well as the ability above it is necessary to know how to choose and coordinate suppliers. First of all it is a matter of mentality and approach: we are not selling to a store with a list and a well defined product, but, even if with different degrees depending on the complexity of the job, we are providing a service, even if you is to deliver a certain number of pieces already in the catalog with modest customizations. It is important to have time for those who have the responsibility to decide: often, before they can be born from a contact real opportunities can spend many months. The contract is a real market, the dimensions of which are difficult to assess, but it is certainly less than the traditional retail market; We can not therefore expect, less than fortunate conjunctures, the results are in the short term. Because the business of selling to be effective you have to activate a large number of contacts with architects or builders, with precise arguments they propose to sell that information relates to the type of job that you are able to achieve, showing up properly, and then continue to maintain the relationship by informing about news, soliciting requests for quotes, and so on. Saying that you are able to do everything usually does not pay: it is better to propose to carry out those works in which your company has real competencies. From the organizational point of view, the need to have an office dedicated to the Contract is greater as higher are the complexity of the jobs that are held and their number. Another critical is the ability to manage the economic and contractual orders. It is in fact develop accurate quotes, to respond in a timely fashion to requests with supporting documentation, to draw up plans for reliable production time and costs. By doing so, you can certainly enhance the economic skills and resources which Italian companies "home system" feature, developing new sources of revenue and new perspectives for the future. It has become increasingly clear that the traditional distribution, as a whole, particularly in mature markets, it promises great opportunities. The contract, in contrast, is a growing market and represents a new opportunity for the majority of companies. Some have already successfully taken that path, others have started, but maybe they have not been able to operate with the method. It is a market profoundly different from that which most of our companies are used and which requires a mindset to be built.

From Orgatec to Interzum: Interview with Thomas Rosolia.

The date for the next edition of Orgatec, the international exhibition for the workplace, the community and the contract which will be held in the modern exhibition center in Cologne 21 to 25 October 2014 is approaching. This year the exhibition presents itself with a new exhibition concept, enriched with some special events that will put the spotlight not only on the furnishings and supplies for the workplace, but also on the equipment, environments, systems, and anything that can positively affect the "working together" for greater effectiveness of public spaces. Cologne will certainly speak of furniture, then, but also lighting, flooring, acoustics, design, comfort and ergonomics of workstations. It will also deal with everything you need for work, multimedia technologies that enable every day to work with others, wherever they are! The latest edition of Orgatec in Cologne drew over 50 thousand trade visitors, who were able to meet with the ideas, the products of 620 exhibitors from 35 countries. Data that this year will certainly be equaled if not exceeded: a few weeks before the opening of the gates halls are "sold out." Important attendance, including names such as Fendi Casa, Bentley Home, Luxury Living Group, Estel, Poltrona Frau, Arper, Bralco, Citterio, Della Valentina, Clover, Fantoni, Lamm, Lapalma, Martex, Maxdesign Italy, Pedrali, Rexite, Sinetica, Techno,

Unifor, Giulio Marelli, Mascagni, Gallotti & Radice, Chateau D'Ax, Haworth, Wilkhahn, Sedus, Dauphin, Klober, Wagner, Interstuhl, Palmberg, Assmann, Brunner, Vitra, Thonet, Nurus, Actiu, Walter Knoll, Renz, Hay, De Sede ... About the already mentioned special events that enrich the 2014 edition we want to remember the new "competence center Orgatec-Mobile", an exhibition and a meeting point, housed in Hall 11.2, where they will be exposed objects and goods related to "nomad work", or to the specific needs of typical mobile workers. In the same pavilion space to "Spaces 2014-Connecting People", an event dedicated to everything you need to define a modern workplace, a space where they can interact in the best way possible and with maximum efficiency thanks to the right acoustic conditions, lighting or even just enjoying the ideal temperature.

Heart of Orgatec are Halls 6, 7, 8 and 9 where - as tradition - will be presented furniture and furnishings for the office. Pavillion 10.2 will instead be given to proposals and ideas for the contract, subject closest to us and for which we decided to go find Thomas Rosolia, Ceo of Koelnmesse Italy, pr Read more. To establish itself in the globalized world, an exhibition event must have a strong international character. Orgatec responds to this requirement, of course, but to what extent? "Orgatec is undoubtedly a global point of reference, a role that carries on for many years now. And the 2014 edition will be a proof: In Cologne there will be 622 exhibitors, of which 59 per cent from 35 countries. A strong international mood has always been one of the most noticea-

ble features of this our fair that, in recent years, has been able to evolve in a purposeful way, matching the classic office furniture, everything revolves around and in the working environment and to public spaces. A choice also awarded by visitors: this year we expect more than 50 thousand, of which slightly less than half from more than 20 countries. I think they are sufficient data to bear witness to what we stand for the global industry. And let me add, in this connection, a remark: some time we note that the exhibition scene is increasingly divided into three distinct areas, namely Asia, Europe and South America, each structured with some fairs reference for each sector. Fairs that have a strong appeal to the nations of this macro-areas, places where exhibitors from around the world meet buyers 'local', a definition that in this case, is certainly close, but not forcing them to move from one end to 'another site. I find it absolutely indispensable, speaking of an international event, always keep in mind what this polarization and this requires the fair organizers. "

which Italian companies more than others, know how to combine flavors, design, comfort, practicality, style ... And Orgatec is the place where all that is new is shown. "

How do you organize an event of this magnitude? "Application challenging for which there are many possible answers. In a nutshell, I can tell his readers that in the Koelnmesse priority is to create a platform where supply can give their best. Not only a showcase of products, but a set of events and initiatives that allows the buyer to the operator on a visit to grasp the novelty but also stimuli that move in its sector, the trend, the ruling ideas. start from modern infrastructure, from a fairground - talking about Cologne - perfectly integrated with the city and with all modes of transportation, public or private that they are. We must keep in mind that it changed the way people use the "good show" and that operators spend less and less time to visit. doing our duty need to make their time at the fair as profitable as possible. "

How do you make the fair attractive for the audience? "Our experience allows us to build space harmonics, easy and convenient to visit. A cocktail of products and ideas that become not only a concrete opportunity for the visitor - designer, buyer, purchase decision makers that it is - to create business, but receive valuable ideas. On the subject of contract I want to emphasize that in Hall 10.2, which for the first time will be used to Orgatec, we given greater scope to the theme of the contract and to all those sectors that look to the community: transit lounge, lobby, hotels, theaters, cinemas, convention centers... an area of excellence, with a highly effective layout ... but I do not want anticipate too much to your readers! A new formula, with which we have involved companies that were never designed for this particular segment of the market. "

What, then, is the formula of Orgatec? "A fair is successful if it is able to "read" the market and to gather around him a global offering, the most complete and qualified as possible. Orgatec In these years has grown considerably, proving as I have already mentioned - the platform for excellence for those interested to the field office and contract. furniture is undoubtedly an important chapter, the historical soul, if I pass this definition. furniture more and more technicians, able to receive and amplify the tools and most innovative technologies. A rapidly changing world in

What are the major novelty of this year's Orgatec? "One of the focal points ie Orgatec 2014 is undoubtedly the Hall 11.2, entitled "Space connecting people". We started with the idea that Orgatec should be the place where all the changes that are rapidly taking place in the workplace should be represented. We asked ourselves, with our consultants on what you're actually moving, what are the signs or tools that are transforming these spaces. What emerged was a very intere-

sting project, dedicated to all those details, those components that define the quality of a modern workplace: acoustics, lighting, temperature, wellness, mobility. Many workers no longer need a physical place and are always less than those who spend the entire day at the office. Increasingly we must deal with the tightest of spaces or modes of telework ... all this and more can tell 11.2 ". Contract is really the field of the future? "Everything seems to indicate this, as should be

clear that we are talking of an application or product categories that have always existed. A fund does not come because you put a label, but because it makes a precise answer to the benefit of the operators of a or more sub-funds involved. But I can tell you that the attention of Orgatec to contract, the emphasis in a single concept of different topics is proving successful: our exhibitors know they can meet a demand from the more

clear, delineated, to the benefit of concrete business opportunities. I would add that what we call "contract" is undoubtedly gaining more attention than the furniture sector; we also see the arrival of new players". The next event will be the one with Interzum 2015, the largest exhibition in the world for suppliers to the furniture industry. How are you preparing for the event? "From 5 to 8 May 2015 the appointment with Interzum, now the undisputed leading event for the global world of the supplies, components, semi-finished products for the furniture industry and the padding. A place of novelty but also the showcase of hundreds of thousands of products that are under, inside, and around the furniture. A review that has numbers really impressive and continues to grow, year after year, with many exhibitors in the list of waiting. A success that unites the event calendar in Cologne with the "Chinese version" that interzum Guangzhou to be held in March 2015, an event born eight years ago and that appeals to the Chinese and Asian market in general. Many national exhibitors interested in exhibiting in the context of quality, which are also present in all the foremost brands in the world". How do you see the future of exhibitions in the next decade? "Koelnmesse years pursuing a deliberate strategy of globalization of their own experience. The world is getting smaller and, conversely, operators seek situations more "comfortable", an international comparison. We are convinced that in the next decade there will be opportunities only for events with an international flavor, which will take place in modern infrastructure and adequate. We will have to deal with a fair market in Asia continues to grow and a Europe which will always get those who exhibit excellence in all areas. Fairs that will be effective and efficient, able to generate business, to manage its presence on markets all over the world, with adequate capital. Essential managerial approach fortmente. A challenge that we like, because of its proximity to our way of thinking".

Importanti le presenze, fra cui nomi come Fendi Casa, Bentley Home, Luxury Living Group, Estel, Poltrona Frau, Arper, Bralco, Citterio, Della Valentina, Quadrifoglio, Fantoni, Lamm, Lapalma, Martex, Maxdesign Italia, Pedrali, Rexite, Sinetica, Tecno, Unifor, Giulio Marelli, Mascagni, Gallotti & Radice, Chateau D'Ax, Haworth, Wilkhahn, Sedus, Dauphin, Klober, Wagner, Interstuhl, Palmberg, Assmann, Brunner, Vitra, Thonet, Nurus, Actiu, Walter Knoll, Renz, Hay, De Sede...

Come vi state preparando all'evento?

26 27 Gruppo Cefla

The retail space, located in the basement of a Roman palace in 1929 located in the Prati district, has been realized by Cefla, a company that has always been committed to the maximum design research for retail stores and supermarket chains and Zenith Shop Design, a subsidiary of Cefla, which deals with custom made creations. The store has a few differences compared to older brothers Milan and Verona, which include a restoration point. In this case, the direction taken is that of the pure food market, dedicated only to the distribution of food. The store offers a selection of high quality products with the best of Italian and international culinary excellence, attracting a clientele with refined tastes. Zenith Shop Design has worked actively in the planning principle with the Store Design of Coin, to study the most appropriate design solutions at point of sale: the food market offers fresh from the bakery, from packaged goods to frozen, playing the main concept of this store: make that shopping experience visual, sensory, tactile and olfactory. Each area, set within the retail space, was then designed and customized in collaboration with the designers of Coin, creating such ad-hoc solutions, aesthetic and highly functional. Alongside the solutions custom made by Zenith Design Shop, you will find the innovative furnishings Cefla: System25 shelf and shelf in the new thread Wireplus, both used with a matte black that brings out the best product exposed and emphasized by wooden decor which give an allure of quality shop. The supermarket luxury is particularly warm and welcoming and is reminiscent of a French boulangerie, thanks to the image coordinate where the environ-

ment blends with the product, packaging and clothing used for the various merchandise departments. Particular care has been taken in the placement of tables full of flagship products, but also books, gift packs and accessories for the food; touches that make this beautiful market space vibrant and enjoyable living. Each area was then characterized by the use of wood from oak and essential facilities in black metal, as in the produce section where the stalls were coated with a solid slatted baskets and large exhibition, almost worn out, that bring to mind the values of the earth and the genuineness of the product. The fruits and vegetables on display become even more attractive, as well as the wine room, which exploits the concept of cross merchandising, are included in the sophisticated ambiance of the books on display on sheet trays, which contain recommendations of the most famous sommelier and tasty recipes from star chefs. Particular attention has been given to the central island with bakery, deli, the deli and diner. The balance of the exhibition space offers the client an overview of, and thanks to this you can move with ease from one department to another enjoying the warmth of the environment. In the area served, the walls are characterized by diamond tile effect while the showcases were coated with a service plan in corian color bone, in front planked. The communications are supported by a tubular perimeter which engage the panels with graphics and perimeter boards. For a perfect continuity and consistency of image, it took completely cover all the showcases characterized by a rhythmic slatted horizontal in the lower part and a veil veneer on the top.

TWO PRESTIGIOUS PROJECTS FOR MALIGNO INDUSTRIA ARREDAMENTI: BOTTEGA BALOCCO IN FOSSANO AND BORBONESE AT TURIN CASELLE AIRPORT divisionecontract frames

32 33 Maligno Industria Arredamenti

Maligno Industria Arredamenti has recently made, based on the designs of the architect Marco Bonelli studio Atelier M2, engineering and production of furniture and architectural elements of the new Borbonese corner shop at the airport "Sandro Pertini" in Turin. The project consisted of the construction of a selling point of a rectangular 35 sqm on the first floor of the departure lounge of the airport. The shop consists of portals in epoxy-coated metal with like effect otton burnished and, in turn, contain within them the portals of the scenes in clear glass walls that serve as a limitation of the store itself. On the two long sides were placed 2 light boxes with images bearing the advertising campaigns of Borbonese; while on the short sides are positioned inputs to the store and the logo, MDF color red and the back-lit with a hidden LED light source, the brand Borbonese. The interior of the store has been designed as a "straight tunnel and pass-through" in which the client will be able to move freely and look at the goods on display. At the cen-

ter of the space was positioned at the front of the case and this was achieved with a small store set up outside of the display for the display of scarves and belts. The exhibition displays are divided into two main types: free-standing display cabinets and tables. The shelves of the corner-shop are made of lacquered MDF top covered in black with rearlacquered glass. Each shelf is equipped with a LED strip encased in its interior to illuminate the product is exposed. Craftsmanship, modernity and history come together instead of in "Bottega Balocco", the new store opened last September 20 in Fossano, in Via S. Lucia 51, home to the historic confectionery company. A workshop dedicated to the world of taste, which reflects the canons of traditional, modern twist to a dynamic and constantly evolving as Balocco. The new concept has been developed in collaboration with Maligno Industry Furniture, a company that for over sixty years works in the world of custom that has made ??the entire room keys in hand. The spaces designed by Evil Industry Facilities are timeless places where dreams come true and desires are transformed into products and services. The Maligno custom made furniture industry stems from the desire to satisfy every kind of request and customizing the most demanding customers: a service where colors, designs, sizes and shapes are designed to create exclusive pieces.

We placed in the center of a cube space that brings together the services of the store and possibly also acts as a room divider. At the sides of the cube, in fact, were positioned two large portals full height in Zebrano wood that can also be closed to create a room reserved for suitable sales details ". The internal space plays in shades of sand and gray, enhanced by thirst champagne colored iridescent weaves placed inside the showcases and profiles of bronze furniture made in luxurious white oak, standing out from the two side walls, one covered nubuck walnut color and the other in dove-gray striped zebrawood. Features of this store are windows that open motorized and remote-controlled with a scroll vertically and not to swing, that have been developed from the R & D of Zordan specifically for this intervention: thanks to this device has been optimized to the maximum interior space , which is very pleasing is that the architect Girondi clients. "I really appreciated the work of Zordan as general contractor" - says Patrizia Girondi - "because it is very accurate, reliable regarding the timing, impeccable in the resolution of the issues and the management of the bureaucracy and extremely correct." Zordan also oversaw the execution of the suspended ceiling and lighting, taking great care to bring the game even on the ceiling volumetric wanted for the interior of the store, so as to enhance the space. The ceilings, in fact, create two plans that differ in height: the central part is lowered, extends along the entire length of the shop and contains the directional spotlights, recessed in the long central slit. At the top of the veil led a round of the game creates an indirect light that illuminates the ceiling ring the perimeter of the store. Zordan srl was founded in 1965 by Attilio Zordan as joinery technique, immediately supplier of the Marzotto Group. With the passing of the baton by Attilio three sons, Maurice, Martha, and Alfredo, the company is confirmed as valid supplier of the most important luxury brands such as Bulgari, Ferragamo, Tumi, Van Cleef & Arpels increasingly value-conscious craftsmanship and quality.

Fendi is ready to cut the ribbon, by 2016, in a building in Miami in collaboration with Château group. Armani Casa, however, furnish a maxi-tower 60-story born from the partnership between the César Pelli, Related and Dezer group development. Growing up and even run the business of contract-style Fendi. These plans Pietro Beccari, the number one fashion house that is owned by LVMH: Chateau group with an agreement for the construction of a complex of 58 luxury apartments on 12 floors, all Fendi designer home and coming in 2016 in the area of super-luxury Bal Harbour in Miami. How did this project? "We believe in value for many years in terms of image, but also business, which has Miami. In fact here we are present every year in the projects Design Miami, because here spends most of international business and not just the United States, to which we desire to communicate more and more attention to the values ??of Fendi. For all these reasons and after having found the ideal partner in Château

group, we decided to carry out the project Fendi château residences, ocean front residences for an audience of super-rich, within which there are apartments that sold szaranno rates between 5 and 22 million dollars each. "Therefore been working to give new impetus to the contract? "We believe that given the growing importance of Fendi house, placed in line to be 27 years with Luxury living group, and its shared values??, craftsmanship and luxury, it is important to make further ambassador of fashion house Fendi in the world. We believe, however, did not want to do just a matter of business, but image and positioning in certain contexts and weighted and cities. It is therefore not expect an indiscriminate proliferation of the contract, but a natural maturation and growth of ad hoc projects. "As the projects of Dubai and Monaco? Right. The agreement with Damac will bring to light is a beautiful complex of private apartments in Riyadh that one ultra-luxury residential in Dubai Marina. A unique place in the world not only for its architecture but

Same spirit of charm and handmade furniture was obviously used to the new Yacht Club of Monaco, created by Fendi home with interior designer Jacques Grange. The project is characterized by geometry and advanced materials, is born from the creativity of Norman Foster. But our plans do not stop there. We have a lot in the yard...". Armani also runs with the contract. The designer, through the brand Armani/Casa, has signed a partnership with Dezer Development and Related group that will give life to the project by 2016 Residences by Armani/Casa in Miami that will include luxury residential units. A sign the complex, a 60-story tower that will rise in Sunny isles beach with 260 housing units that reflect the aesthetic sensibility of the Italian designer will be the superstars Argentine César Pelli, author of projects such as the Petronas Towers in Malaysia or the Adrienne Arsht always center in Miami. A project that reinforces the expansion of the brand in the segment of the contract and that was announced a few months from the signature of the contract with Century properties for the realization of the Century spire of Makati, the Philippines, adding to the many ongoing projects in China and in Turkey. "Armani/Casa was born from the desire to apply my aesthetic sensibilities to interior design. It is a pleasure to work on this important project with an architect of great ability as César Pelli, "said Giorgio Armani. "Together we have the opportunity to create something really special, unique living space, filled with elegance and contemporary flair."

Abbiamo ancora molto in cantiere...”.

CON 3D SURFACE I MURI PARLANO that reflect the tastes and needs of the end user: a veritable "tailoring "of the surfaces that provides a team of technical professionals to give life and form to the ideas of the most demanding customers. The products have been created to make decorative coatings that would make infinite surfaces, without breaks or joints: the first collection, designed by Jacopo Cecchi under the artistic direction of Romano Zenoni, create unique effects. Thanks to the sophisticated design and the use of specially developed materials, such as ceramic coated fiber-reinforced mortar solutions for interior and exterior (TRG, TRB), the surfaces can be used in any environment. The collection of industrial production, is composed of thirteen different types of decorations between them. You can choose products whose effect is an authentic reproduction of reality, Bamboo, Desert, Capitonnè or abstract surfaces fruit of imagination and contemporary artistic trends. 3D Surface is able to develop surfaces on request of the customer, in order to make each environment unique and personalized. TECHNOLOGY AND APPLICATIONS The walls sculpture distort the usual scenario of coatings, launching an important signal to the world of contract and design. The phrase that is often repeated in the company is not accidental: the walls speak. The ability to use in any environment, thanks to the development of two special materials with ceramic, allows the designer to think and conceive solutions of all kinds. The laying of the products is simple and takes place by gluing; grouted joints surfaces take on a fluid and continuous. The products are enhanced with light, the thickness lurk giving space to the shadows. The area comes alive. 3D SURFACE born with the desire to develop products on request, in order to allow each designer to make carved his own idea. PLANNING TO MEASURE The company offers architects, designers, decorators and all customers the ability to request custom work, or develop new areas even in individual pieces, as per their desire. INSTALLATION The laying takes place by gluing. Verify that the substrate on which will be applied to the panels is strong enough and coplanar; otherwise it is recommended a restore of the wall/ceiling, in order to obtain the desired result. Arrange with a brush or a roller on the wall surface concerned the appropriate fixative solution, so as to obtain a bonding bridge to the installation of the panels. The product is recommended gripping the Betokontakt Knauf, a product based polymer and quartz sand. Wait until the product is dried before proceeding with the laying of the panels. Carefully clean the back of the panels so as to allow the proper grip of the glue, then have the points of glue at a distance of 10-15 cm over the entire surface. The product is recommended for bonding the Perlfix Knauf, a special adhesive gypsum additive. Lay the panels checking that all the surface adheres to the wall concerned and that they match with each other. Should it be necessary, depending on the size of the panel and its development (greater than 150 cm from the ground) is also recommended that the mechanical fixing with dowels and screws. After 2 hours after application it is possible to grouting. After 24 hours of grouting, sanding with abrasive paper (we recommend a 400 grit) the party in order to obtain a perfectly smooth and fluid. Thoroughly clean the surface with water using a well wrung sponge; the wall is ready to be painted and decorated.

POSA IN OPERA La posa in opera avviene mediante incollaggio.

DUBAI, A GOLD MINE CONTRACT IN ANTICIP

By 2020, five years that could change everything, opening up new horizons, new markets, new relationships, new opportunities. Dubai and the United Arab Emirates, the connection point between East and West, are the places where we build the future, where the Italian-style is the key to success. Where victory for the Expo 2020 has put the flywheel to an economy already florida, projected into a great development. At Superstudio in Milan was held a day of meetings with Italian operators already established in the UAE in order to understand and disclose business opportunities. That the emirates, in fact, is a market mainly linked to the contract, which seeks exclusivity and expertise. The Italian community in Dubai has doubled in recent years, creating a "little Italy" of professionals, entrepreneurs and creative connection between them. Together, they form an interesting network can offer advice, show-room and opportunities to individuals and companies who wish to present or develop their business. UAE customers is closely linked to the brand, especially in fashion. The result is that even for the furniture prevail signatures as Armani or Fendi, rather than Cassina or Poltrona Frau. The UAE also prefer to come to Europe to buy furniture, and this also penalizes local retai-

lers. For the same reason, the main fairs of the sector remain the Salone del Mobile in Milan and Maison & Objet in Paris. In Dubai, the historic exhibition of interior design is Index, but over the years there are new initiatives. Lately important appointments were born as Design Days Dubai and Downtown Dubai Design, an exhibition of small but high quality. Already in 2011, Danny Quah, a professor at the London School of Economics, published a study in which he argued that the "center of gravity" of the world economy is gradually shifting eastward: 2050 will be located between India and China . When you look at the furnishings and design industry, emerging markets most often mentioned are the Russian and the Chinese, but the link between east and west is proving to be much closer: is the Middle East. The United Arab Emirates offer huge potential for Italian companies, especially in view of Expo 2020 to be held in Dubai. If in 2012 it recorded a turnout of 10 million visitors to Expo are expected between 20 and 25 million, including a 70 percent coming from countries other than the host (data Ice, Agency for 'internationalization of Italian companies). The direct consequence is that the UAE Expo are preparing to accommodate over 17 million tourists, with an

allocation of substantial funds in the hospitality industry and the hotel reception. According to the same data as Ice, only in Dubai by 2020 will be realized approximately 81 thousand new hotel rooms and 45 thousand units, with a surge in demand for furniture. But if most striking Expo provides an opportunity for the Italian furniture industry (already allocated $ 6.8 billion for the exposure), the UAE market is already a valuable interlocutor. In 2014, GDP growth was around 4.5 per cent, with a good percentage of gross domestic product-related retail (28 per cent). Also this year, the United Arab Emirates were the main export market for Italian exports in the Middle East and North Africa: our country is in seventh place overall among the exporters of goods, and third among European states. Between 2011 and 2012, Italian exports to the UAE has had an increase of 16.7 percent. In the same 2012, the furnishings and design industry has accounted for 22 percent of total exports, second only to the mechanical engineering (with a value of 24 per cent). The UAE area also conceals opportunities that go beyond the domestic market. A three-hour flight from Dubai is a reservoir of 1.3 billion potential consumers: the UAE function as bridgehead to reach other mar-

kets in the Gulf, the Middle East and India. If the numbers are encouraging, however, to be able to fit into the local economic landscape is not simple. The Emirates are a difficult market, fragmented and poorly structured. Also for this reason, Dubai has announced the construction of an entire district dedicated to this sector: the Dubai Design District. The goal is to create a commercial hub that brings together the best brands of design, fashion and luxury, as well as a creative center to bring together designers and industry. The area will house offices, residences, showrooms and hotels, with the first phase of the work to be completed by January 2015 Funding for the work is the Tecom Investments, with an investment of AED 4 billion (the local currency), some 800 million euro.

INDIA, A MARKET WAITING TO BE DISCOVERED BY THE CONTRACT MADE IN ITALY For the Italian companies of contract and home furnishings India is a market with great potential, even if unexpressed. India, which with Brazil, Russia and China form the so-called BRIC countries, is the tenth world economy. In 2011, the GDP grew by 7.2%, 5.5% in 2012 and estimates for 2013 are a + about 6%. The population is very young average age, 25 years. 29% reside in urban areas, since in absolute terms indicates a potential clientele extremely wide: only the metropolitan areas of Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore (respectively, the financial capital, politics and technology in India, which is concentrated in the most part of wealth), reach 45 million inhabitants. Looking at the composition of social groups, shows that in spite of the rich and wealthy constitute 0.6% of the population and the mid-range and medium-high 10.5%, it is still a total of 155 million people. Especially the midrange is rapidly gaining purchasing power, becoming more and more in a position to buy luxury products and quality. As regards the characteristics of the Indian market of furniture, for the 83% is constituted by entities not organized, in which often manufacturer and retailer coincide. Only 15% of local producers has an industrial structure. India imports furnishing products with a steady annual growth of 30%. In the context of a general interchange with India that still does not express its full potential, Italy is the fourth largest exporter in the field (after China, Germany and Malaysia) and has a market share of 4.8%. As regards imports from Italy, the percentage of the total is 4.2% with a constant annual growth of 5%. The leading products of Italian exports in 2011-12

were wooden furniture (26 million euro) and lighting / lighting (12 million euro). In his report with the products of our country, the Indian consumer recognizes the Italian furniture for the quality of materials, design and finishes. The Made in Italy brand is positioned in high-end then. One of the most interesting aspects of our business lies in the fact that the demand for Italian products exceeds supply. There are two ways to operate in the Indian market through indirect investment, with the export of products through agents, importers, distributors and retailers; or through indirect investment through the establishment of a Joint Venture with Indian partner, which allows you to sell on the open market, or by setting up a 100% subsidiary, mode that allows only b2b operations. Despite the presence of customs duties (30% for pro-

Made in Italy superiore all’offerta.

ducts of home furnishings) and regulatory constraints, the Indian market is therefore shows much potential for Italian companies in the home furnishings sector, thanks to growth in GDP, growth in the power of 'purchase of the middle class and demand for products of home furnishings Made in Italy exceeds supply. To facilitate business contacts between Italy and India, the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce has launched the website www.furnituredesignitalia.com, an informative showcase of products of home furnishings Made in Italy aimed at Indian operators. Design, durability and high quality then are the strengths of the Italian furniture industry, three elements that attract the interest of buyers even in the emerging economic realities. The question, however, collides with a limited part of our companies. Numbers from a survey dell'Iicci (IndoItalian Chamber of Commerce and Industry), the chamber of commerce that promotes the economic and trade relations between Italy and India. The Made in Italy like and is sought after, with the best opportunities in contract residential, office and hospitality in one bound, but the mechanisms of encounter between supply and demand is still much to improve. To make India an attractive market for companies in the furniture are a number of factors, ranging from the opposite demographic than purely economic. "An interesting element is the average age of the population," says Claudio Maffioletti, general manager IICCI. "We have around 25

years, and this allows a high level of customer loyalty and long term. In the country, in addition, a growing upper middle class of professionals, doctors, academics and managers that currently stands around 20 million people. Their annual income ranging from 20 thousand to 100 thousand dollars: the challenge for our companies is to be able to intercept this category. "The target market for Italian products, in fact, today is limited to the fascia of the rich and wealthy (for a total of about 6 million potential customers), whose annual income ranges from 100 thousand to over a million dollars. If we look at the economic data, between 2008 and 2014, the Indian subcontinent has seen a growth in GDP of 6.4 per cent, despite a significant slowdown in the last two years. "One of the key areas are the construction sector," continues Maffioletti. India has a requirement of around 750 billion dollars of investment in infrastructure needed to modernize the country. This is an excellent opportunity for the Italian furniture industry. But if the premises are these, because the Made in Italy is so hard to enter the local market? "Why is increasingly fragmented: the vast majority of Indians are buying their own items of furniture from the small craftsman under the house. Secondly, it is an unorganized market: operators often are importers, distributors and retailers at the same time. There is an advanced specialization in the supply chain, and this means that the area of intervention of these subjects is extremely limited: usually retailers operate on a regional basis, at the national level is almost impossible. "The only case of distribution-level semi-national paradoxically comes from abroad, particularly from Italy. It is Natuzzi, the brand specializes in furnishings for the living area. Other brands of our own in the Indian landscape are Poltrona Frau, Chateau d'Ax and Artemis, but operate on a more restricted areas, linked to major centers such as Mumbai and New Delhi. Another point to consider is the typical consumer, which in India is called "price sensitive". The furnishings Made in Italy costing well above average, and this can curb local buyers (including the wealthy) in the choice of purchase. In total, in 2013, Italian exports in the furniture industry amounted to 60 million euro. The leading products in the last two years have been the wooden furniture (29 million euro), lighting (11 million euro) and seats (7.5 million euro).

After the great success of ARCHITECT@WORK for nearly a decade throughout Europe, this unique concept is finally ready to set foot on Italian territory (19-20 november Fiera Milano Congressi MiCo, from 1 pm until 8 pm). Long preparations and thorough market research have proven that Italy is more than ready and actually in need of a refreshing, brand new and exclusive exhibition concept. Innovation is a word that is key for every architect or interior designer – but it is also the main criterium for ARCHITECT@WORK. Exhibitors are required to present innovations on their stand. Companies send us an overview of the items that they would like to showcase and we have a judging panel of architects and interior designers assessing every single product: when has it first been launched? What is new to it as opposed to the market? And most importantly: is it indeed an innovation for the

Italian market? But this is not where the strict selection criteria stop! During build up, every stand will be checked. If items that have not passed selection are in the stand anyway, the judging panel will have them removed. This of course covers the factor innovation, but there’s in fact more to it. Forget every traditional exhibition format that you know because ARCHITECT@WORK creates a most unique, dynamic, cosy and lounge-like atmosphere unlike anything you have ever seen before. Traditional aisles have been transformed into lounge areas where you can relax, have meetings in a more informal and private way and most importantly: where you can enjoy the free catering that is provided throughout the event for visitors as well as exhibitors. This is where you can meet up with colleagues and network to the max. Small corner units are used to present the innovations in a very inventive and aesthe-

tic way. Due to the size of the units, manufacturers have got to focus and work according to a simple architectural rule ‘less is more’. The concept also implies that every single company, no matter the size, has got to present its products within the exact same dimension. An excellent way of focussing on the innovations at hand. ARCHITECT@WORK is also about inspiring architects and interior designers. One feature that will be on display right next to the entrance of the event is the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture by Citée de l’architecture (Paris). Each year this award is given to 5 architects and their projects (since 2007) will be shown during ARCHITECT@WORK. A unique material curation by MATREC where samples of most innovative and ecological materials will be on display too. Arch. Marco Capellini will be present during the event to take you on a journey

towards building in the most sustainable way! He will also host a seminar on this topic on both days. There is a panel session on interesting projects in Italy on both event days: Wednesday 19 November at 14:15 Arch. Massimo Roj (Progetto CMR) will share his vision on ‘Grattanuvole. Filter – cells like ‘gems’, the restyling of Torri Garibaldi’. On Thursday 20 November at 14:30 Arch. Alessandro Scandurra (Scandurrastudio) will introduce his Expo Gate ‘Renovation of the city through regenerating public urban spaces’. All seminars can be attended free of charge and credits are given to architects that attend.Visiting ARCHITECT@WORK is free of charge as well if you pre register online (www.architectatwork.it) using code 2500. Uno speciale che si troverà a ridosso dell’ingresso all’evento è il Global Award for Sustainable Architecture by Citée de l’architecture (Paris). Cellule – filtro come pietre preziose”. MARMOMACC:

ITALY MARBLE CONTINUES TO WIN A fair event ever cross, where the business of natural stone communicates directly with the world of contract and of interior. This is the focus of the 49th edition of Marmomacc. "The decision to merge the two fairs in the calendar," says the president of Veronafiere, Ettore Riello, "offers two system events that represent excellence in the manufacturing made in Italy such as marble and furniture, complementary level of the supply chain. Marmomacc, which in 2013 reported 54% of workers from abroad by 143 nations, is also the ideal platform to develop the internationality of Abitare il Tempo. The initiative, finally, meets the needs of operators themselves Marmomacc, 2013, since, according to research, 68% of those Italians and 56% of foreign exhibitors to belie-

ve now necessary to involve new areas. "Like every year, Marmomacc, the fund is the absolute protagonist of natural stone blocks, slabs, semi-finished and finished products, machinery, technologies and accessories such as diamond abrasives and tools. An industry in which Italy is the fifth country in the world for production and processing, and which has continued to grow during the first six months of the year, our country has exported raw blocks and finished products for 929.7 million euro (+ 3.7%) and machinery and equipment for mining and processing amounted to 478.3 million euro (+ 7%). As for the materials, it restarts the European market, led by Germany; good performance to the countries of North Africa. Stable orders from the United States and Eastern

Europe; slight decrease from the Middle East. Italian technology increasingly in demand in Turkey, India and the United States, while decreases the demand in Brazil and Germany. A Veronafiere, September 24 to 27, was staged Marmomacc, the leading event in the world for the supply chain of natural stone with 1,502 exhibitors (77 more than in 2013) of which 912 foreigners from 57 nations. For the first time the fair was held in conjunction with Abitare il Tempo, the b2b exhibition Veronafiere for operators to contract, interior finishes and furnishings. The event scaligera showed once again how the marble is one of the excellence of Italian manufacturing. A sector that sees our country protagonist, as the fifth world producer, and has in Marmomacc, the international reference point for the entire chain. Marmomacc occurred appointment 2014 with 1,502 exhibitors (77 more than in 2013), of which 912 foreigners from 57 nations are able to represent as fully as marble-stone industry: from raw blocks to processing technologies, from exhibitions and installations Inside Marmomacc & Abitare il Tempo with the latest applications in the field of design, to the courses of the Stone Academy for professional training of architects. "Marmomacc is a platform to promote more and more international," said Giovanni Mantovani, Director General of VeronaFiere, "and witness the growth in numbers this year, with 66 new

exhibitors from abroad and new entry among the countries like Afghanistan , Colombia, Malta, Mexico, Thailand, Ukraine and Zimbabwe. We have also established a network of cross-border events of Marmomacc World Tour that today we are protagonists in the markets of the United States, the Middle East, Brazil and South Africa. "Good signals are also coming from the sector of machinery and equipment made in Italy for the extraction and processing of stone materials: the half-year figures showed an increase in value by 7% compared to the same period of 2013, from 446.8 to 478.3 million euro. A result that confirms the growth trend has already emerged in 2013, when domestic exports had grown by 9.2 per cent. A drive sales across the border are mainly two major producing countries such as Turkey (first buyer with 35.4 million euros, 36.4 +%) and India (according to buyer with 38.7 million, + 145.6%). Excellent results are also

coming from the United States (third largest importer of 36 million euros, up 30.7%), while they mark significant drops - after the excellent performance of the past years the Brazilian market, although in view of the 2016 Olympics (28, 3 million, -45.9%), and Germany (27.6 million, 15.9%). According to Flavio Marabelli, honorary president with responsibility for institutional relations of Confindustria Marmomacchine, "the positive data of the 1st half of their exports in the sector represented by us - whether the fund of materials to technology - an encouraging signal for the 'Italian stone industry as a whole. Export growth leads us to think that 2014 would close with a further consolidation of the trade balance in the supply chain techno-marmifera national who, with a net profit of 2.4 billion Euro (since 2013) makes a significant contribution assets Italian balance of trade. "In terms of quantity and value added, however, are still semi-finished and finished products to support the sector even if the export, over the six months, he gradually slowed the race, stopping at 724 million euro (+1, 6%). A result which contribute mainly to stabilize the American market to 167 million euro (+0.1%), and those in Eastern Europe and the Balkans settle around 71 million, the same level of 2013. in this context, it is worth noting that the result of Ukraine, in spite of the situation of internal crisis, has increased by 37.8%, imports of worked marble from Italy, for a total of 5.4 million euro. Slight setback in the Middle East where, with 102.1 million euro, the demand for Italian materials decreases by 8.5%, particularly in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar. In contrast with these data, the good performance of the historian and the most important outlet for the carved stone Made in Italy: Europe, which reaches almost 310 million euro of orders, an increase of 4.5 percent. Especially about 71.3 million euro (+ 5%) of Germany who reprises his role as the locomotive of the Old Continent for consumption in the stone industry. Exports soared (+ 48.7%), in addition, to the United Kingdom, which ended the period at 32.8 million euro. Confirmations are also coming from emerging markets, particularly from the African countries bordering the Mediterranean: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya Italian marble companies have closed in six months contracts for nearly 30 million euro, 18% in

more than the previous year. Finally, Italian quarries in full swing: the world, in fact, increases the demand for rough stones ornamental and building stone, limestone, gypsum, chalk and slate in the first half of 2014 jumps ahead by 12.2% to 205 , 7 million euro. They run exports to Asia, thanks to a value of 140 million euro (+ 12.4%), particularly those relating to China, amounting to 58.9 million euro (+15.5%). Stable at 33 million euro, the Indian market, while in the first six months of the year, Saudi Arabia's growing up to euro 5.4 million euro (+ 53.1%). Export uphill even in old Europe that is scoring 38.8 million euro (15.6%) stand out and sees exports to Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

OUR TEAM AT MARMOMACC An event of great interest, the example of a trade show that, from a period of great difficulty, was able to carry back at the center of the world scenario the field of marble and stone, attracting exhibitors and visitors from all over the world is Marmomacc The results in terms of contacts have been very positive. The event was sided by Abitare il Tempo, a glorious format, interpreter of a winning season, that now seems in search of an identity between the retail and contract furniture. Our publishing house, present with its own stand and a massive distribution of the magazine Divisione Contract, attended the event with commitment, mobilizing commercial personnel and journalists. All have reported a positive opinion of the event and commented it with satisfaction Marco Basileo, Director of Divisione Contract said: "The most interesting in this 49th edition of Marmomacc was without a doubt the dialogue with the historic event Abitare il Tempo. dividing a contemporary stage between the" hard "part of Marmomacc with its stone blocks, semi-finished products, machinery and technology, and the "soft" Abitare il Tempo, pointing instead to the operators of the contract with the proposals of materials, interior finishes and furnishings. We witnessed the formation of a cultural bridge, which showed once again how a project can be the engine of innovation: its success is the result of dialogue between client, designer and business. But it is also a demonstration, especially in the world of the contract, that the design has two souls, a technique and a narrative, which in Verona were both well represented. "Pietro Ferrari, director of Il Legno, L'Industria del Mobile e Struttura Legno, stressed the value of the event as a sign of good management exhibition: "The management of the event Marmomacc has handled a difficult situation, leading, and not from this edition, the event to an unquestionable success. This should be an example of identifying a format that allows you to combine in a time technical values with the suggestions of the design. "Floriana Gandini, following from your stand theexhibitions has recorded a series of positive feedback: "Public skilled and attentive consisting of architects and designers as well as international buyers who examined carefully the proposal of our titles, in addition to Divisione Contract, Il Legno, L'Industria del Mobile, Sistema Serramento e Struttura Legno." Silvia Maestri, director of marketing of Webandmagazine, has focused its review on Abitare il Tempo "Abitare il tempo is a real lounge of design and furni-

ture, elegant, understated, classy. Exhibitors present, excited for the big number of visitors, have responded well to our interest toward their production and they confirmed that the contract sector is increasingly attentive to their business, in terms of stimulus to innovation and the consequent development of the business in Italy and abroad." Sonia Maritan, director of Sistema Serramento, has expressed an opinion articulated about the event: "The title that could be given to the duo Abitare il tempo and Marmomacc could be" Membrane stone interpreting currently everyday life", a formal synthesis enabled by technology, machines industry marble-stone that have production processes similar to those of wood or metal, so you can thin the material is to create a dialogue with all the colors of the furniture offered by the calcareous nature of the universe becoming lithic design. The contemporary world, in fact, is made of carved stone with new mechanical devices and computerized digital design that open a new frontier, beyond which opens up a new way of designing and working the stone that becomes stone design. This ancient material changes its face and lightens, becoming the membrane moulded sink, stone veil of a ventilated façade, slate sheet for covering furniture, walls and floors, layers lithic fabrics as “gown” , any surface with unusual textures, working in relief, moldings, floral inserts with the possibility of create "cathedrals of stone" with an incredible easiness. In conclusion, a combination that leads to a reflection: the solid wall can become ephemeral, the ductility of the stone, worked as a "butter", to express meanings of "thickness" differently, and enables you to transfer a new language that dresses design, domesticity, remnants of lytic to date décor!" Finally, Franco Riccardi, responsible of logistics of Webandmagazine, says: "We participated in the double event in Verona with our booth in the elegant setting of Abitare il Tempo, with a widespread distribution of all our magazines, particularly ones related to the field specific even, the Division Contract and L'Industria del Mobile. Particular attention was also payed to the concomitant international exposure linked to the world of marble, with a distribution of our titles in the exhibition halls dedicated to the finished product, design and architecture through 'use of this fascinating material.

Among the various fairs dedicated to antiques, tapestries, carpets, fabrics and so on, Domotex definitely deserves a special mention. The fair, which takes place in Hannover every year in January (the next edition will take place between 17 and 20 January 2015), is one of the most important events in the industry, known by insiders around the world. The international scope of the fair is one of the features that best characterize Domotex: many are both visitors and exhibitors from abroad, demonstrating how the event felt around the world. Domotex can certainly be described as one of the largest international exhibitions dedicated to carpets and flooring in general, and the numbers of the last edition that does not give a clear confirmation about 1,350 exhibitors from 57 nations, 45 thousand visitors (a figure in continues to grow year after year), more than 80 countries, three days entirely dedicated to flooring, carpets and everything that revolves around us. These are the numbers that complete the business card of Domotex, which arises more and more as a point of reference for those working in the field of carpets. There are various sectors present at the fair: from carpets to hardwood floors, laminate floors from tissue, not to mention the associations and the trade press, which also are always well represented at the fair. Innovation is another strong point of the fair: last year was passed "Innovations @ Domotex", an area dedicated to the latest ideas in the field. The carpets, however, are the masters anyway, with a wide and varied representation: every year at the Hannover exhibition display their products companies specializing in traditional and modern rugs, Iranian rugs, Chinese rugs antique rugs from Egypt, from 'Afghanistan, India, Morocco, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia and Turkey. All countries that have a long and glorious tradition in the manufacture of carpets, therefore, find a place in the exhibition in Hanover, which for three days becomes the navel of the world of carpets. When we speak of carpets, there refers only to the old carpet to put in the living room and to show off as genuine or valuable objects of design. The world of carpets also includes other objects, perhaps less valuable, but certainly useful in every home. This is the case of the rugs for the bathroom, for the exterior and for all those places in which a precious carpet could be damaged. This category of non-knotted woolen carpets and is widely repre-

sented at the fair, with spaces and special stand. Space then the rugs, carpets on the stairs, the door mats, bath mats and so on. But even coatings for collective areas, such as airports, cinemas, convention centers. Here, turnkey projects does not have a dedicated area, but it deserves because they are constantly growing manufacturers specialized in this sector. As mentioned, Domotex not only gives space to the rugs, but also to the floors in general. The exposure of flooring, in particular, is certainly one of the flagships of Domotex. The parquet flooring is a type of still extremely popular, and in fact the number of exhibitors of this product present at the Hannover Fair is always very high. Manufacturers and sellers of carpets and floor coverings of various kinds: the appointment is for January, in Hannover, in the halls of Domotex.

MADE expo is the privileged meeting platform between companies, designers, construction companies, installers and operators. To confirm a growing trend, this edition will be a special focus on contract. After the success of 2013 (over 211k visitors, of which 36 thousand foreigners, 14% more than the 2012 edition), MADE expo consistently pursues the path of innovation that has in the biennial, and specialization in the main lines of development. MADE expo has chosen to reposition itself firmly in odd years and during the month of March, to be placed optimally in the calendar of major European trade fairs in the field of architecture and building. "The choice - says Giovanni De Ponti, CEO MADE events - was dictated by the need to rationalize the Italian exhibition offering, allowing companies to concentrate in a single event the presentation of new products to the market in the first quarter and plan subsequent promotion and sale. "In full operation, therefore, the construction site for the next edition of MADE expo, held in Fiera Milano Rho 18 to 21 March 2015 The specialization of MADE expo is further reinforced through the articulation of four theme halls MADE Construction and Materials , MADE housing and Doors, Interior and Finishes MADE, MADE Software, Technologies and Services - choice that allows the best synergy between products and services used in construction to anticipate the dynamics of an increasingly integrated market. It renews the International Business Lounge, the space of B2B meetings between exhibitors and delegations of designers, developers and contractors from all over the world that offers total MADE expo for exhibitors. Just in relation to the contract sector, was held in Mestre a conference to learn about the ways in which hoteliers select the vendors of furniture and construction elements. In anticipation of Made4Contract-Hotel, the largest B2B event held in March 2015 on the occasion of the fair MADE expo. Are chosen as the furniture, fixtures and other building elements when a hotel decides that it is time to renew? What lines should

follow a company to be selected as a supplier? In this process, what are the differences between a large international chain, a national and a large independent hotel? These and other questions we tried to answer in the meeting that - in front of an audience of over 200 professionals between hoteliers and companies furnishing and finishes saw the presentation of three "case study" of the same reality hospitality to know the procedures and criteria by which usually are chosen suppliers in relation to building or restyling of the hotel. The works were introduced by Matthew Zoppas, president of Confindustria Venice during the initial greetings said: "Tourism is a developing area which is of fundamental importance for Venice, but also and especially for the province. It thus represents a lever of development of high impact for other sectors related to it as the decor, the contract for supplies and utilities, able to create new highly skilled jobs. "Giorgio Palmucci, president of Confindustria, the Italian Association of Hotels, explains: "The Italian hotel industry focuses on the quality of the offer to intercept an increasing number of guests and the care of the image structure, in addition to the attention paid to the details of furniture, represent imprinting that positively stimulates the experience of living of customers. "MADE expo will take place two months before Expo 2015 will anticipate the content, technologies, and materials used in the creation of the Universal Exposition.

Mood, the international trade fair for textile furnishings, curtains and wall coverings, was held from 9 to 11 September in Brussels, with an eye to the Contract sector. The eye-catching and original communication campaign with the slogan '"In the MoOD for Belgium" had a twofold message. On the one hand the origin of Mood in Belgium in 1979, the Belgian textile producers have decided to join forces giving rise to an international show with the name of Decosit. On the other hand, the slogan refers to a renewed interest in the textile industry where both Belgian and European tradition and future intersect more and more. "The Future meets tradition" was the theme of this edition, in a city, Brussels, where the textile tradition dates back to the Middle Ages and the innovations they continue to bring new resources. Although in recent years the digital business has increased worldwide, Mood wanted to encourage business face-to-face. Mood has performed two tasks. First of all, it was a compact fair, easy to navigate and with a unique position in the market: all exhibitors are manufacturers and owners of their creations and are therefore a direct point of contact for buyers and to develop new products according to specific needs. Secondly, gave the visitor a wide range of services from design, in Hall Indigo, to textile fibers (Moodfilati) collections for upholstery, window and wall coverings. The event was held in halls 5, 8 and the patio: the exhibitors were grouped, so visitors have planned their appointments easily. The most interesting innovation was the creation of trend forum at the entrance of Hall 5 Mood has also built a strong image in the market of Contract together with the partner Trevira CS. The area was qualitatively exceptional, because only a Mood only true specialists get a "Contrac tabel". In all likelihood, it is probably the only European exhibition in which the Contract products are represented so strongly. Indigo also helped pave the way for the event, bringing together designers in Hall 8: a section dedicated to innovative design.

"We are in the middle of the most serious crisis in modern history, but the textile enterprises, to save himself, should still be able to astonish with the beauty, research, innovation, service". Massimo Mosiello, Director of Proposte, World's Fair fabric and curtains arrived at XXII edition, did not use easy words for the occasion to present the event. The textile industry too must find a way to trace the way out of stagnation. The event, on the other hand, has been a remarkable success: Proposte 2014 has had 6593 visitors, of which 2364 4229 Italian and foreign. The percentage of foreign visitors then go up to 64.15%. Last year was 62.55%: Proposals is therefore a fair increasingly international. Compared to 2013, visitors overall increased by 7.19%. Italians showed a 2.65%, a 9.9% foreigners. The most important countries of origin of visitors, and of course Italy, were Germany with 597 appearances, Britain and the United States with 543 and 396 Several exhibitors, include Alcantara with a product with many applications updated with the rules of sustainability and environmental protection; Boselli & C. was founded in 1898 with all manufacturing processes positioned within the structure of Como; Engelbert E. Stieger, well-known producer who collaborates with the most important textile designers of the world; the renewed company that provides Gaetano Rossini among other variables in 3D tissue thickness, hardness, and fiber; Lemaitre Demeestere, located in the heart of the district of the French linen since 1835, can produce textile flax weighing 100 to 1000 grams per square meter; Standfast & Barracks, based in Britain, is one of the most versatile and competent printers on the fabric of the world have already confirmed that on the morning of the first day they had to remove from clothes hanger collections demands exclusively by many buyers. And the orders have continued unabated

in the next two days. That the recession is over? Probably not, but the quality of the contracts signed with buyers from over 70 countries around the world indicates that the hope of a better future is confirmed by the numbers. The organizers of proposals have expressed their satisfaction with how they performed the work, for the success of the sculptural installation by Giulio Ciampi in the Main Pavilion and the brilliant concert Rhaps贸dija Trio at Villa Erba. The crowded press conference which was attended by Roberto Luongo, ceo of ITA, Italian Trade Agency, the chairman Pier Carlo Vigan貌 and the vice-president Mauro Cavelli have announced some changes that exhibitors will evaluate collegially to ensure that the fair will always keep on winning markets.
