With twelve targeted qualifiers designed to showcase emerging talent, today’s three qualifiers from our seven-race programme could yet reveal a future star Matchbook will sponsor 28 races at Punchestown this season, including three graded contests, underlining their strong and growing commitment to Irish jump racing.
Our next race meeting takes place on Monday 2nd February, when we host the 2026 Up The Yard Challenge Race This year, the race aims to raise over €8,000 for the Irish Cancer Society, a charity chosen by all participants. It is always a fantastic day and a great way to round off your Bank Holiday weekend

LEADER D’ALLIER won five bumpers in France and was sent off a warm favourite on his hurdle debut at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting when beating all bar Ballyfad with Straight John over four lengths behind in sixth. The Willie Mullins-trained gelding should benefit from that experience and can go one better The latter was making his racecourse debut on that occasion and is entitled to improve from that display. Maxfort made a pleasing start to his career when placed behind the selection’s stablemate The Reverend at Cork earlier this month, while point-to-point winner Cloudio was second in a strong Cork bumper last spring and is an interesting recruit to hurdles.

The familiar colours of Simon Munir and Isaac Souede are doubly represented here and riding arrangements suggest BIBE MUS is preferred of the pair The Camelot gelding beat Crooked Path in a Gowran maiden in October and has been placed on both outings since, including when runner-up to Lord in an Aintree Listed race This represents a drop in class and he gets the vote over Kibris, who won a Curragh maiden on debut as a juvenile but is without a win in three outings over hurdles. Kasper Hauser has plenty of jumping experience and is weighted to reverse previous Cork places with Crooked Path. WIN: BIBE MUS EACH-WAY: Kibris

The first thing to consider is which type of bet you wish to place. The most common is a win bet, where if your selection wins, you win. It is a no nonsense, on the nose bet and if you are lucky enough to pick a big-priced winner, you will receive a nice return. For example, place €5 to win on a 10-1 shot and you will receive €55 back, €50 winnings plus your €5 stake. Another common bet is each-way This is effectively two bets in one One bet is on your selection to win and the other is on it to place. Depending on the type of race and how many runners are in the race will determine how many places are offered. The industry standard bookmaker place terms are as follows:
All races of less than 5 runners – win only
All races of 5-7 runners –1/4 odds a place, 1,2
All other races of more than 8 runners –1/5, 1,2,3
Handicaps of 12-15 runners –1/4 , 1,2,3
Handicaps of more than 15 runners –1/4 , 1,2,3,4

Shadys Lady beat Torpille Dagrostis by 10 lengths in a Naas bumper but was soundly beaten on her hurdling bow at the same venue.
