MONDAY 23RD FEBRUARY 2026
Welcome back to Plumpton for our 7 race card with over £60,000 in prize money. Today see’s the fourth running of our fabulous Jamie’s Farm Raceday.
Jamie’s Farm works with young people, typically aged 11–16, who aren’t thriving academically, socially and emotionally. Their unique farm residential experience and rigorous follow-up programme sees young people take on farm jobs with real purpose like building fences, chopping wood, looking after animals and cooking for each other. Young people leave the farm with the courage to try again, the confidence to stand tall, and the ability to form positive relationships - strengthening their wellbeing and helping them flourish far beyond their school years. Since its founding in 2009, Jamie’s Farm has welcomed over 18,000 young people to their 7 sites. We are fortunate enough to have one of their farms around the corner from the racecourse and on a recent team visit we were blown away by the project and dedication of their team. There was certainly a post visit audit to make sure our team hadn’t adopted their Shetland or any of the goats, pigs or chickens!
On behalf of Jamie’s Farm, I would like to welcome and thank today’s Race Sponsors. We welcome back Signet Hotels, LGT Wealth Management and the Jolly Pub Group who are past and present supporters of the Charity. New to this year but equally current partners of the racecourse see Howdens, Sky Sports Racing and Old Gold Racing join in support of the charity. We also welcome Boden to Plumpton Racecourse for the first time, and we hope that everyone has a great day.
Our next fixture is on Monday 9th March when we host our Dragonbet The Roar Before Cheltenham Raceday. We have an excellent panel led by Alan Johns and Colin Brown to help your search to beat the bookies during Cheltenham week. The preview starts at 12:30 and we still have spaces available in the Final Fence Restaurant, if you want to have a front row seat for the panel. If you are thinking of booking tickets or hospitality then make sure you visit our website or contact one of our team.
Don’t forget to put the Plumpton Racecourse Easter Festival in your diaries, which will be held on Sunday 5th April and Monday 6th April, by booking now you will secure our best ticket prices as this is our most popular racing weekend with both tickets and hospitality always in high demand.
Have a lovely day at Plumpton, Heart Of Our Community.

Turn of foot - A term to describe marked acceleration during a race.
Under starter’s orders - Before a race, the starter brings the field of horses into order to prepare them for the start of the race.

This ought to be a gilt-edged opportunity for MONDO MAN, who, despite continuing to race freely over hurdles, has shown a great deal more than each of these rivals and won’t need to be at his very best. Thistle Be The One holds an official rating of 105 and has work to do, so it will be interesting to see how French recruit Lady Iris fares in the betting. totewin: Mondo Man
toteeachway: Lady Iris
It looks best to stick with KALKAROO, who made it third time lucky in handicaps at Market Rasen earlier this month. The son of Australia should relish the likely ground conditions and can fend off the likes of Dissident and Frank Stamper, who enter handicaps for the first time. Dr Waksman was fairly solid on the level and his best run over did come over C&D.
totewin: Kalkaroo
toteeachway: Dissident
3 A step up in trip coupled with a return to slower ground worked the oracle for LUMI PLUGIN last time and he is expected to go in again, especially because Hezekiah March is able to negate the burden of a 5lb rise. Georges Saint finished third to the selection that day but Venetia Williams’ string are in better form now. The pair should be closely matched with that in mind, but Enjoy D’allen could be booked for third.
totewin: Lumi Plugin
toteeachway: Georges Saint
Kitsilano gained a first success over fences at Leicester earlier in the month but more will be required after a 7lb rise from the handicapper. With that in mind, the vote goes to ALTO ALTO. The nine-year-old bounced back to form when runner-up over C&D a fortnight ago and is likely to go one better in what appears to be a winnable contest. Sanitiser completes the shortlist.
totewin: Alto Alto
5
toteeachway: Kitsilano
Having pulled up on heavy ground at Ffos Las, JUNIOR DES MOTTES got off the mark in fine style at Fakenham on his latest start and a replication of that display would make him tough to oppose. Minella Kaiser returns to hurdles after finishing second here over fences last time and is capable of being in the mix along with Ami Bondhu.
totewin: Junior Des Mottes
toteeachway: Minella Kaiser
GETAWAY KING has won all three starts since joining Fergal O’Brien’s yard and fitted with a tongue-tie. The cosy winner at Lingfield in December, a 4lb rise may not be enough halt his good progress and the eight-year-old looks worth sticking with. Koenigsstern was in the process of running a big race when coming a cropper at Lingfield last time and is not out of this, while Le Galli Bier looks on a fair mark if the addition of cheekpieces has the desired effect.
totewin: Getaway King
toteeachway: Koenigsstern
Kilworth won over 3m at Taunton recently and drops in trip with a shout raised only 3lb, while A Tickatickatiming went close when runner-up over 2m here a fortnight ago and could also feature. However, ELIZA DOLITTLE is a dual C&D winner and gave notice she will be scoring again soon when finding only one too good here last time. The winner has gone in again subsequently and Nick Gifford’s mare gets the vote on the strength of that form.
totewin: Eliza Dolittle
toteeachway: Kilworth

It will be very disappointing indeed should MONDO MAN fail to open his hurdles account in this uncompetitive maiden. A smart performer on the level in France, he has kept good company since switched to hurdles and will find few more clearcut opportunities than this. Thistle Be The One is by far the most appealing option for forecast purposes, while Lady Iris may prove to be best of the rest.

Probable S.P’s: 13-8 Alto Alto (FR), 5-2 Kitsilano (IRE), 9-2 Sanitiser (GB), 7-1 Known Warrior (FR), 16-1 Godot (IRE)
The vote goes to ALTO ALTO, who pulled clear of the rest when going close back here last month and he is taken to enhance his strong course record. Kitsilano raised his game at Leicester 11 days ago and will be a threat if able to build on that, while Sanitiser looks dangerous, too, having slipped to a workable mark.
The Great British Bonus (GBB) incentivises and rewards with breeding, buying and racing of British-bred fillies by paying out bonuses of up to £100,000 per filly. And now with GBBPlus to further incentivise staying fillies and chasing mares, there are more reasons than ever to breed, buy and race British. Majority funded by the HBLB.

It is now standard practice for screens to be erected around any horse receiving veterinary attention on the ground. This does not reflect on the severity of any injury, but allows the vet some privacy, and the patient a calm environment in which to make a recovery.
Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse.
