FREE WI-FI

How To Use:

Newbury Racecourse is delighted to offer all racegoers free use of our Wi-Fi service.

Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to our BOYLE Sports February Raceday.

I would like to begin by thanking our title partner, BOYLE Sports, for their valued support in sponsoring today’s card. A sincere thank you also goes to our two new sponsors, 500 Logistics and Finli, as well as our long standing partner OLBG. We hope you all enjoy a fantastic afternoon with us.

The fourth race on today’s card is the Class 3 three mile handicap chase, which has attracted a strong field. Attention will naturally turn to Brave Kingdom, a proven course and distance performer whose record here speaks for itself. His partnership with Harry Cobden continues to be a notable strength, with Cobden operating at an impressive 30% strike rate over the past 14 days Paul Nicholls brings the gelding here in strong form too, boasting a 23% strike rate in the same period, highlighting the stable’s sharp condition.

With the recent announcement of our third music act of the summer, now is the perfect time to secure your tickets for our Party in the Paddock music raceday series. The Gipsy Kings will perform after racing on Friday 17th July, followed by Ronan Keating on Saturday 18th July as part of Weatherbys Super Sprint Day.

One month later, BRIT Award winning rapper Tinie Tempah will take to the stage after racing on Friday 14th August as part of Visit Malta Hungerford Weekend. Our Super Early Bird tickets for these music racedays are ultra discounted – with prices starting from just £24 - but they are only available until March. Finally, thank you to all our racegoers for joining us today. We look forward to welcoming you back for BetVictor Weekend Racing on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th February.

How To Bet

There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:

1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.

2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:

• ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

• ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.

• What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.

• The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!

3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.

4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.

5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!

6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard.
