How To Use:

Newbury Racecourse is delighted to offer all racegoers free use of our Wi-Fi service.

Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to the BetVictor Jumps Season Opener.
To begin, I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our sponsors: OLBG, Agetur, CSP, Pertemps Network, British Horse Society, and our long-standing title partner, BetVictor.
We’re delighted to kick off the new season with the British Horse Society Charity Race at 11:45am. Best of luck to all the riders taking part today and thank you for supporting such a worthy cause.

This afternoon features two Class 2 hurdle races, both run on the flat course. One to watch is Strong Run, making her seasonal debut in the CSP Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle over two miles. She boasts an impressive pedigree, she’s a sister to Grade 1-winning hurdler Strong Leader, and her dam is an unraced half-sister to Strong Flow, winner of the prestigious Hennessy Gold Cup.
For those interested, don’t miss the return of our popular Trip to the Jump with course expert David Crosse, taking place ahead of our 3:25pm race Racegoers are asked to meet to the left-hand side of the Weighing Room 20 minutes before the race begins.
Looking ahead, the highlight of the Jumps season is fast approaching. We’re excited to welcome you to the Coral Gold Cup weekend on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th November This bumper two-day meeting features thrilling racing, including the prestigious £250,000 Coral Gold Cup, alongside live music, outdoor attractions, two big after-parties, and much more. If you’re planning to join us, be sure to secure your tickets before the discounted rate ends at 11:59pm on Friday 21st November
With the Jumps season back it means 2026 tickets have been released – they’re currently on priority sale at the Super Early Bird rate, giving early bookers access to the best prices for next year’s action. To register for priority access, simply scan the QR code on page 16 and you’ll unlock immediate access to the best price tickets for 2026’s racing.
Beyond the racing, Newbury is the perfect place for a festive celebration. Our Christmas party nights are proving popular, with new dates added due to demand. If you’re looking for a unique venue for your seasonal celebrations, you might be in luck - take a look at page 36 for more details.
Finally, thank you to all our racegoers for joining us today. We hope you have a fantastic afternoon and look forward to welcoming you back for the flagship weekend of the Jumps season - the Coral Gold Cup, on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th November

FRI 28 NOV & SAT 29 NOV

There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:
1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.
2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:
• ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

• ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.
• What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.
• The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!
3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.
4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.
5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!
6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard.
