Founded on 20th December 1983, Dubai Duty Free, now in its 43rd year of operation, has grown into one of the biggest single travel retail operators in the world.

Now employing over 5,800 people, the operation has consistently raised the benchmark for airport retailing, and it continues to grow.

In 2025, Dubai Duty Free celebrated its 42nd anniversary and achieved an historic milestone with annual sales record of US$2.378 billion. Over 21 million sales transactions were recorded throughout the year, an average of 58,212 sales transactions per day, while a staggering 56.796 million units of merchandise were sold.

Currently operating around 40,000 sqm of retail space across Dubai International and Al Maktoum International airports, Dubai Duty Free has continued its investment in the development and expansion of its retail o er including the refurbishment in Concourse B and the renovations of three Arrivals shops.

In addition to the retail division Dubai Duty Free operates a Leisure Division which includes The Irish Village both in Garhoud and Studio One Hotel, the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium, home to the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and The Creekside Hotel Dubai.

To date, Dubai Duty Free has received over 800 awards including its record tenth Frontier ‘Airport Retailer of the Year’ Award in 2021. In 2025, Dubai Duty Free won 18 awards including its 24th consecutive Business Traveller Middle East Award for “Best Airport for Duty Free Shopping in the Middle East”, the Gulf Business Award for “Retail Company of the Year” and the nineteenth consecutive Global Traveler Award for “Best Duty-Free Shopping in the World”.

Good afternoon, and a very warm welcome to the second day of the Dubai Duty Free Spring Trials Weekend and Craft Beer Festival.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our valued partners Watership Down Stud, Darley, the European Breeders’ Fund and OLBG Of course, our special thanks go to Dubai Duty Free, who once again take the title partnership across the weekend.

2026 marks the 31st year of Newbury’s association with Dubai Duty Free, and we are hugely grateful for their continued support of racing here We are delighted to welcome members of the Dubai Duty Free team today.

We open the card with our two traditional three-year-old trials, the Dubai Duty Free Fred Darling Stakes and the £100,000 Watership Down Stud Greenham Stakes. Both races have a strong history of unveiling future stars, with the Greenham Stakes famously won by Frankel. This year’s renewal looks just as compelling, featuring Aidan O’Brien’s Albert Einstein taking on Group 1 winner Zavateri from Eve Johnson Houghton’s local yard.

Our feature handicap, the OLBG Spring Cup, has attracted a fiercely competitive field of 26 runners, which is the largest at Newbury since 2019. A second 26-runner contest later on the card adds further depth to an already outstanding afternoon of racing. Between these two big-field races, racegoers can also enjoy live coverage of the Scottish Grand National from Ayr, which is included in today’s racecard.

We are thrilled to welcome back the Craft Beer Festival today, featuring over 30 real ales and ciders from a range of local brewers. Be sure to visit the Craft Beer Tent and sample what’s on offer while enjoying live music from talented local performers on the Craft Beer Festival stage throughout the afternoon.

After racing, party band The Shadow Monkeys take to the stage next to the Craft Beer Festival Tent for good old fashioned sing alongs and a country style after party. The Dubai Duty Free Marquee is also well worth a visit, where racegoers can enjoy a taste of Dubaian hospitality with complimentary coffee and dates. The ever-popular Wheel of Fortune returns, with plenty of prizes up for grabs, including entries into Dubai Duty Free’s famous Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise draws.

Looking ahead, 2026 is set to be our biggest summer of music yet, with four big music racedays to look forward to The summer programme begins with Gipsy Kings on Friday 17th July, followed by Ronan Keating on Saturday 18th July for Weatherbys Super Sprint Day. A month later, Tinie Tempah takes to the stage on Friday 14th August, before Jessie J performs on Saturday 15th August, both as part of Visit Malta Hungerford Weekend. How To Bet

There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:

1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.

2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:

• ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

• ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.

• What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.

• The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!

3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.

4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.

5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!

Abandonment

Policy Tickets

In the event of racing being abandoned refunds on the face value of general admission tickets purchased will be available as follows:

a) abandonment before completion of the first race – full refund

b) abandonment before completion of the third race – 50% refund

c) abandonment thereafter – no refund

Newbury Racecourse will not refund the cost of racecard purchased on the day of racing in the event of abandonment

In the instance of an abandonment Newbury Racecourse will contact the lead booker to arrange a refund or ticket exchange.

Depending on the volume of refund requests received, payments will aim to be processed within 28 days of abandonment, although that cannot be guaranteed.

Hospitality Boxes, Hennessy & Racegoers Restaurant

In the event of racing being abandoned refunds on Hospitality, Hennessy and Racegoers’ Restaurant packages will be available as follows:

a) Abandoned before gates open – full refund

b) Abandoned before completion of the third race – 50% refund

c) Abandoned thereafter – no refund

Betting

Laying of bets is subject to Racecourse terms and conditions. The Betting Ring Manager is located in the Grandstand ground floor Customers of the boards and rails bookmakers should check their itemised tickets immediately on receipt, as mistakes cannot be rectified after the ‘off ’.

Collecting your winnings: If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement NEVER destroy your ticket until after

the ‘Weighed in’ announcement has been made. There may still be a Steward’s Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses may be disqualified.

With Bookmakers: A late pay service is available in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. Late pay claims should be sent to 3A Kings Hall, Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire, PE27 4WY.

With the Tote: Winning tickets not claimed on the course can be redeemed by returning your winning ticket to: Britbet, Customer Services, Aintree Racecourse, Princess Royal Stand, Ormskirk Road, Liverpool L9 5AS
