Welcome to Behind The Scenes Day here at Ludlow!

We would like to thank our long standing sponsors Suzuki and Farm & Garden Machinery for their ongoing support and sponsorship of this race day. Keep an eye out for our Suzuki KingQuad on course during the races today.

There are lots of activities in the Windsor Marquee, both fun for children and educational for all of the family, to include jockey demonstrations, racing tack talks and much more!

We are delighted to be partnering with Autism In Racing to make this race day inclusive for everyone They have provided a Sensory Room on the Fairway Green, and The Forbra is being used as a quiet room today.

We hope you have a great day racing and make the most of exclusive access to areas of the racecourse - to include the weighing room and a down to the start of the second and third race. Please see timings for activities on the timetable page in the racecard.

We hope you have a great day racing and hope you can join us again soon!

Our next fixture is Wye Valley Brewery Day on Thursday 26th February.

Best Regards

HOW TO BET WITH AN ON-COURSE BOOKMAKER

1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to offer the correct stake money for your wager.

2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet, name the horse, (the bookmaker won’t necessarily know it’s number). Listen to the bookmaker repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet.

3. Should your horse happen to win, present your betting ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings

4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, i.e. for a win or a place

5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise the racegoer as to his rights.

6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes. e.g.£1, £5 or £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.

Betting Forecast: 10-3 Fresh Kicks (IRE), 7-2 Manigod (FR), 11-2 The Expensive One (IRE), 6-1 Name Me Nicely (IRE), 11-1 D’Jo Dela Barriere (FR), 12-1 Broderick (IRE), 14-1 Spitalfield (IRE), 16-1 Lord of All Saints (FR)

Race Summary:

THE EXPENSIVE ONE has had an excuse on both starts at Cheltenham since making all at Stratford in the autumn and, back from a break with the step up in distance in his favour, he could be the answer. Fresh Kicks also eases slightly in grade and is feared most, for all Name Me Nicely is a potential improver.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicap races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
