THE RACECOURSE EXECUTIVE EXTEND A WARM WELCOME TO ALL OWNERS, TRAINERS, SPONSORS, AND RACEGOERS.
We are delighted to be racing, following our winter break at what is the first of our 15 fixtures in 2026 A full fixture list can be viewed on the back page of the race card
Since January 1st until the end of February we have endured one of the wettest times I can remember and have had 236mm of rain, more than half the amount that fell in 2025 This has not helped with preparation of the track for todays meeting however due to the sterling effort by our ground staff the course is in magnificent condition and looks well

Thanks go to our sponsors today BK Racing regular sponsors of the “Hexham Marathon Handicap Chase” the fourth race on the card and run over an extreme distance of 4 miles, ogledigital.co.uk, mybettingsites.com and Paxtons. We are also grateful to the family of Davey Liddle celebrating his 80th Birthday sponsors of the 5th race and Richard Baksh sponsor of the last race on the card for his wife Angela.
A must do today, is visit “THE BRAMBLE TUDOR CAFÉ” at the top of the paddock, the running of which has been taken over by “THE SHIREGATE CAFÉ” of Hexham There will be a wide range of tasty, freshly made hot and cold sandwiches, soup, cakes, hot and cold drinks available.
Whether you are visiting for the first time or a regular visitor at the course we hope you have an enjoyable and successful day and look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

1. Form
A quick way to see a horse’s past performance. These are its recent finishing positions
Look out for letters:
C = has won at this course
D = has won over this distance
CD = has won over this distance at this course
BF = was a beaten favourite last time EXPERT VIEW
How the experts rate the horse’s chances:
2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse.
3. Timeform view and TFR rating
4. Horse’s trainer & their location
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race.
5. Jockey
Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day.
6. Owner’s colours worn by the jockey
7. Saddlecloth number
8. Horse’s name
9. Days since the horse last run
10 Horse’s age
11. Jockey’s weight (stone and lbs)
12. The horse’s breeding – father (sire) and mother (dam)
13 Horse’s owner

15 Birthplace of horse (outside GB)
EACH HORSE HAS BEEN GIVEN A STAR RATING, DEFINITION BELOW:
Selected to win the race
Good chance of being placed
By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
More information on the form
- = New racing season
/ = Missed racing season
P = was pulled-up and didn’t finish the race
F = horse fell
U = rider unseated
R = horse refused to race
CO = the horse was forced out of a race by a loose horse
B = horse was brought down
S = horse slipped
r = the horse ran around a jump or took the wrong course in a flat race
D = disqualified
Bold form figures = performance in All-weather (Flat) or point-to-point (Jump) races
Unlikely to win but not totally without hope Can be given little or no chance.
The two main types of bet are win and each-way. For win bets, your horse needs to win the race outright An each-way bet is effectively two bets – one for your horse to win and one for it to be placed. So a £2 each-way bet will cost £4 A bookmaker taking each-way bets will display the terms on which they accept such bets on their board. In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.
• Fewer than 3 runners - Win bets only, no places offered
• 3 or 4 runners – Win bets only Where a bookmaker wishes to depart from this default position they may offer place terms at 1/5 odds a place 1-2.
• 5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1-2
• 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3
• Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3
• Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3-4
• Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4
Shop around for the best odds When you have decided where to place your bet, state the number of your horse and the stake, for example “Number 4, £2 win” Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to their clerk and hand them your money. You will then be given an itemised receipt detailing your bet and potential winnings. You should keep this safe until you have heard ‘Weighedin’ announced after the race If your bet is successful, hand your ticket to the bookmaker and they will give you your winnings

Last year’s Champion Bumper heroine BAMBINO FEVER wasn’t troubled when landing very short odds at Fairyhouse and with more improvement to come she ticks plenty of boxes. Oldschool Outlaw is the only horse to have beaten her and looks the biggest danger bidding to go 3-3 over hurdles. Kingston Queen was sent off favourite when third to Old Park Star here in December and stamped her class when taking a Grade 2 at Warwick subsequently She could be in the mix in first-time cheekpieces.

REDEEMING LOVE: Following its run on 17/2/2026 it was reported that the horse made a respiratory noise.
Probable S.P’s: 10-3 Gardener (FR), 4-1 Kelvin Forlonge (FR), 5-1 Milan Park (IRE), 6-1 Micks Jet (IRE), 12-1 Redeeming Love (IRE), 14-1 Rock Hurley (FR), 16-1 Mornington Beach (IRE), Berwick Law (FR)
GARDENER has been holding his form well since switching to Mike Sowersby’s yard and he can take advantage of the drop in grade here. Milan Park is still low mileage in handicaps and is also shortlisted after a sound effort at Kelso, while Kelvin Forlonge arrives on an upward curve and would be of interest if proving as effective over this shorter trip.

If you require first aid assistance, please contact a member of our stewarding team or the Raceday Office located beside the turnstiles.

RACE RESULT

1ST 2ND 3RD 4TH
Hexham Racecourse employs veterinary surgeons whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse.
In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the Racecourse’s Veterinary team.
Qualified Paramedics and Doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey.
If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving the treatment.
This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment.

PLAY SMARTER
SUPREMELY WEST has had possible excuses for a couple of his defeats since his promising third to Ma Shantou and the reopposing Electric Mason here in October (strong form) and is well treated if recapturing that level. Kikijo looks to have been kept fresh for this since winning twice at the end of 2025 and is second choice. Champagne Chic, C’est Different, Bold Endeavour, Absolutely Doyen and Emmet Mullins pair Melbourne Shamrock and Minella Emperor are others with plenty to recommend them.

RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE Hexham Racecourse employs veterinary surgeons whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the Racecourse’s Veterinary team Qualified Paramedics and Doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey. If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving the treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment.
