The Sir David Prosser Trophy celebrates the achievements of the most successful Epsom-based trainer from the 2026 racing season.
The trophy was named in Sir David Prosser’s honour on his retirement from the non-executive board of Epsom Downs in 2013. Sir David made an enormous contribution to the development of the racecourse over many years and remained a loyal supporter of Epsom Downs and the local training community until his passing in March 2020.
The current standings can be seen below and are correct as of 27th April.
The presentation for the winning trainer will be made at the Epsom Trainers Association Ball in November. The Sir David Prosser Trophy championship for 2026 runs from 5th November 2025 to 4th November 2026.
Epsom Downs is home to nearly 180 horses in training. These horses have access to six miles and 250 acres of top quality training surface along the Surrey Downs. We are very proud of the training grounds here on Epsom Downs. Racing is part of our heritage and we want to ensure that we keep the Downs as a prestigious training ground and encourage further business from trainers and owners in the future.
For more information on the trainers and training facilities at Epsom Downs please visit: www.jockeyclubestates.co.uk/epsom

We are delighted to be sponsoring two races across the card at Epsom this afternoon, including the opening Weatherbys Racing Bank Novice Stakes.
The contest looks to be a good opportunityforJohn&ThadyGosden’s Runman to remain unbeaten, having scoredinmightilyimpressivestyleon racecourse debut at Salisbury last October. The form of that race looks strong,therunner-upandthirdrated 82 and 84 respectively, and a repeat ofthatperformancewillmaketheson ofFrankeltoughtobeat.
His main danger may come in the form of Charlie Johnston’s Vitality who shaped well for a long way on debutearlierthismonthatSouthwell.
The New Bay filly is a half-sister to Listed winner Cristal Fizz and smart handicapper Persuasion and will receiveweightallroundhere.
Hattie’s Comet is the sole debutant set to line up in the field and Jim Boyle’s Starman gelding is out of a Footstepsinthesandmarewhowonat ListedlevelatBroParkinSweden.
Later on the card, a strong and competitivefieldoffivearesettoline upintheWeatherbysGlobalStallions App Great Metropolitan Handicap overamile-and-a-half.
Last year’s winner Asgard’s Captain is back to defend his crown and
is 6lbs higher than 12 months ago, when readily clearing away to an impressive four-and-a-half length victory. Dylan Cunha’s six-year-old also scored at York from a 2lb lower mark in August and has race fitness on side after a good third at Meydan inMarch.
Andrew Balding has won the race twicesince2013andhisfour-year-old Topteam has been well supported in the market. The Oasis Dream gelding made all to score at Kempton on return earlier this month and really impressed with how he asserted strongly close home. He has been raised just 3lbs for that success by the handicapper and remains open tofurtherimprovement.
Ralph Beckett’s Sing Us A Song won twice from four starts in handicaps lasttermandsignedoffthecampaign with a determined victory over the longertripof1m6fatHaydock.Having shown plenty of pace to win over ten furlongs at Sandown, this drop back in trip should pose no issues and he remainsunexposedonjusthiseighth careerstart.
The consistent Night Breeze has a quick turnaround to overcome after finishing fourth at Musselburgh on Sunday, whilst Nunc Est Bibendum searches for a first turf victory after a successful spell on the All-Weather overthewinter.

TRIBAL RHYTHM can land this race for the second year running.
