Welcome to The Goffs Million Europe’s richest 2YO race On behalf of the team at Goffs, I am delighted to welcome you to The Curragh for Goffs Million Day. Europe’s richest juvenile race has a spectacular prize fund of €1,000,000, for the ﬁrst ten home in the Million, and is exclusively for horses that were purchased at last year’s Goffs Orby Sale. The race is the centrepiece of the Goffs Two Million Series, which has already awarded €1,000,000 worth of €50,000 Bonuses to the connections of twenty two-year-old winners this season across Ireland and the UK. Alongside our Two Million Series winners, Goffs Orby Sale has produced Classic winners, Royal Ascot winners, Group 1 winners and Group winning juveniles aplenty this year, and we look forward to welcoming buyers back to Kildare Paddocks for even more top class yearlings at the Orby Sale which gets underway on Monday. A superb day of racing and entertainment awaits. Aoife Nolan Aoife Nolan is an Irish self-taught artist based in St Andrews, Scotland. Working primarily in oils, she creates intimate portraits exploring identity, emotion, nostalgia and the quiet beauty of everyday life. Her practice is rooted in observation, with a particular focus on expressive faces, personal stories and the relationships formed with people, places and animals. Inspired by classical portraiture, interiors and childhood memories, Aoife combines a timeless sensibility with a contemporary and atmospheric approach. Her work has been exhibited and collected in Ireland and internationally. Solafa Abusalim Solafa Abusalim is a Palestinian artist from Gaza who is currently based in Ireland. She recently completed a Master’s degree in Architecture, Urbanism and Climate Action at UCD and is now working as an interior architect with an architectural practice in Ireland. Alongside her architectural work, Solafa has a strong passion for painting and enjoys developing her creative practice in her free time. Her participation in the Artist of the Curragh Competition offers her an exciting opportunity to bring together her architectural eye, creativity and love of painting. Lucy O’Sullivan Lucy O’Sullivan, known as LO’S Art, is an artist from Athy, Co. Kildare. Her work is deeply inspired by the Irish landscape and the stories, folklore and mythology connected to it. Lucy primarily works in oil paint, using the medium to explore the atmosphere and character of the natural world. Her creative practice also extends into other mediums, including fibre arts, allowing her to experiment with different textures and forms. Her work reflects a strong connection to the Irish countryside and the cultural stories that continue to shape it. Sophie McDonnell Sophie McDonnell is a second-year student studying Motion Design and Animation, with a lifelong passion for art and a strong connection to horse racing. She has been riding racehorses for around five years, working with multiple trainers across Ireland and France. Sophie’s experience around racehorses has given her a unique insight into the world of racing, which she now has the opportunity to combine with her artistic practice. She is particularly excited to bring these two passions together through the Artist of the Curragh Competition and to share the experience with fellow artists. Kate Deegan Kate Deegan is a mixed media artist from Laois, currently working in the equine industry in Kildare. She holds a BA Hons degree in Animation from Limerick School of Art & Design and works across a range of mediums, including acrylic on canvas and digital art. Kate has taken part in numerous exhibitions with Laois County Council and held her own solo exhibition in Mountrath in April 2026. Kate’s ability to work quickly from life allows her to capture the atmosphere and character of a scene. Her connection to the equine industry brings a particular insight to her work and makes the Artist of the Curragh Competition an exciting opportunity to combine her artistic practice with her passion for horses.

Blinkers and visors keep a horse focused, often a negative because the horse is otherwise not concentrating on the race

A good walk: the hindleg gets well underneath, the hips dip & sway like a super model, the tail base will show the hip

A ﬁt horse is easy to see, very lean & tight

A top-class Group 1 horse carries itself well, the good walk clear in the angle of hindquarters (bottom), large clear eye & ears

Look at the length between the saddle and the hindquarters: the longer the back, usually the further the horse will stay (10f+/ 1¼miles+)

A short-coupled horse, rounder & plumper, is usually a better sprinter (5f/6f/7f)

The Handicapper allots ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicapper to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring penalties and allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicapped races the rating shown is that each runner at the time that the entries for the race were conﬁrmed. Any subsequently published change rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

CURRAGH COMMENT NOBLE EXHIBIT was very impressive when taking his maiden at Punchestown 11 days ago and can step up in stakes company now. It looked like a competitive enough race then but he pulled away in some style to score by seven lengths. The form of his debut third behind Monogram has worked out well and he could be very smart. Stablemate Shakespeare won his maiden here last month but was well held in Group 1 company at Leopardstown a fortnight ago. He could be a danger dropping in grade. City Of Dubai wasn’t disgraced when fifth in the Futurity Stakes but probably needs to step up on that effort now. His yard has been in better form recently.

CURRAGH COMMENT RAHMI has been running in some very hot handicaps and may appreciate a slightly easier task now. The Pivotal gelding has dropped 10lb since running well to finish second in a conditions race at Gowran Park last month and looks on a nice mark now. Leopardstown maiden winner Uncle Goalie is open to further improvement and looks on a fair mark off 79 for his handicap debut. He does face more battled hardened performers now though. City House ran well when chasing home easy winner Greydreambeliever at Gowran a week ago and is another to consider.

HORSE WELFARE - A PRIORITY At every race meeting there are specially qualiﬁed equine veterinary surgeons on duty to look after the wellbeing of all the horses racing. There is a vet in attendance at the start of each race who, follows the horses throughout the race and is quickly on hand if an injury occurs. It is normal procedure to erect screens around any horse receiving veterinary treatment. This allows the veterinary surgeon some privacy to fully assess the horses’ injuries and race goers should not assume the worst if screens are erected around an injured horse. The Blue Cross ambulance is always present to transport the horse back to the stable yard for further treatment if necessary. A second veterinary surgeon is in attendance in the stable yard to assess and treat any horses requiring such attention post race. The horses’ welfare is always our priority. HEADGEAR EXPLAINED Have you ever wondered why some horses wear headgear? Is it just a fashion accessory? Most deﬁnitely not. Headgear is a useful tool in the armoury of a trainer and is used to aid a horse’s performance on the track.

BLINKERS - Blinkers can be used to aid concentration. A half cup placed behind the horses eye helps them to keep looking forwards to focus on the job at hand - winning their race!

CHEEKPIECES - Sheepskin Cheekpieces work on a similar principle to Blinkers and Visors but allow a slightly better range of vision. EYE SHIELDS - Eye Shields are a fine mesh that covers the entire eye but they do allow full vision. HOOD - Covering the ears and head, a hood is used for horses that are easily spooked by crowds or noises, rather than for concentration purposes. NOSEBAND - A Noseband is designed to restrict the field of vision and encourage a horse to focus on the race, usually lowering their head in the process. TONGUE STRAP - Horses do not breathe through their mouth but even so, it can hamper speed and performance to have their mouth open or tongue flopping about. A tongue strap prevents this by keeping the tongue in place for the duration of the race.

CURRAGH COMMENT The regally-bred TOGETHER NOW has been off the track for almost a year but may be able to make a winning return. The full-sister to City Of Troy made a very promising debut here last October when chasing home stablemate Cameo. That filly won the Lingfield Oaks Trial earlier this season, while back in fourth that day was subsequent Oaks heroine Thundering On. There are plenty in this with solid placed form, including stable companion Camelot Queen. She hasn’t been beaten far the last twice and it’s interesting that Wayne Lordan keeps the partnership intact. Sangreal has hit the frame on each of her three racecourse appearances and could be on the premises again.
