There are eight races for you tonight, featuring the final of the popular “Timeform Sprint Series” at 7.30pm with a maximum field of runners. After racing, you can make your way to the Sports Bar to sing along to Christmas carols, followed by a bit of disco music on the dancefloor. We will be back on Friday afternoon, 2nd January, for another busy year and hope to see as many of you as possible, if not then, at least at some stage in 2026. OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

Changing Lives Through Sport As part of our ’10 Years of Community’ Campaign during December we are highlighting a very special charity The Presidents Sporting Club. For over three decades, The Presidents Sporting Club / Essex Disabled Sports Foundation founded by Mike Jackson MBE has been writing stories of courage, confidence and possibility for disabled children across Essex and beyond. Since its formation, the charity has raised well over £3 million, transforming lives by funding vital sporting opportunities for young people with disabilities. From specialist sports equipment and professional coaching, to the hire of sports halls, adventure days and residential activity holidays, every pound raised goes towards giving children experiences that many would otherwise never have the chance to enjoy. Since 2022 Chelmsford City Racecourse is proud to have supported the charity with volunteering days and providing prizes for fundraising days in aid of the club, to help raise vital funds to support children in ours and the wider community. The impact of sport goes far beyond physical activity. For the children supported by the Club, participation builds self-confidence, physical strength and self-esteem. It teaches teamwork, resilience and independence; qualities that help them face daily challenges and shape their futures. For many families, these opportunities are life-changing. While fundraising remains essential to the charity’s future, the work goes far beyond financial support. Throughout the year, the Club runs events designed not only to raise funds, but to raise awareness, and most importantly, to ensure that children have fun, feel included and experience the joy of sport. For 30 years, the charity has organised Sports Experience Days across East Anglia and the Home Counties, giving children with special needs the chance to try over 30 different sports. More than 30,000 children have taken part in the programme. One parent wrote: “We understand that Joe had a great day and enjoyed the sports he was exposed to. We work with Joe each evening and it was pleasing to note that he surprised his teaching support with his abilities which may not always be accessed at school. It means a lot to us as parents that children with learning and physical needs are exposed to these events as abled body individuals would appreciate or take for granted” The charity also runs an annual Children’s Sports Awards Lunch, featuring an awards ceremony celebrating sporting achievements. Over 10,000 children have attended the event, and more than 400 have received awards.

One of the charity’s most remarkable strengths is its dedication to maximising every donation. As a registered charity, the Club operates with no paid employees, and no offices or company vehicles. All administration is carried out by the Trustees from their own homes, keeping overheads to an absolute minimum. This means that as much money as possible goes directly to the children and organisations that need it most. Over the years, the charity has proudly supported schools and specialist organisations such as Riding for the Disabled, ensuring that facilities, coaching and inclusive environments are available where they are needed most. This long-term commitment has helped countless children discover their talents, their confidence and their love of sport. The Club’s work has also helped shape champions on the world stage. Among those supported are Paralympic Gold Medallists Noel Thatcher MBE and Giles Long. Both received support from the charity during their development years. Noel Thatcher MBE later wrote:

“I can say without exaggeration that without the Club’s sponsorship all those years ago, many of the medals I have been fortunate to win would have been hanging around someone else’s neck.” His gold medals from Atlanta stand as a powerful symbol of what early belief and support can achieve. The charity’s impact has been recognised at the highest level. In a personal letter to Chairman Mike Jackson MBE, Prime Minister Theresa May wrote: “The President’s Sporting Club is making a real difference to the lives of young disabled people, by giving them the chance to take part in sports and providing all the benefits that can bring.” Today, we welcome volunteers from the charity to celebrate years proving that with the right support, every child deserves the chance to dream, to compete and to shine. ABANDONMENT If racing is abandoned prior to the first race, a full refund will be given. After the third race has been run, we regret that no refunds can be made in respect of admission charges. Refunds are not issued on the day – tickets purchased on the gate must be sent within 28 days of the event to Chelmsford City Racecourse, Chelmsford, CM3 1QP. ACCESSIBILITY There are dedicated parking spaces, WC’s, and access to all public areas of the grandstand and paddock. We also provide a viewing platform.

ADMISSION For admission you will require a ticket. This can be an E-ticket that you purchased and received prior to your visit, a hard ticket that you purchased in advance and requested to collect on arrival, or a hard ticket that you have purchased on the gate. ALCOHOL Alcohol may not be brought into Chelmsford City Racecourse under any circumstances. If any person is found to have alcohol on or about their person, it will be confiscated and it may result in being asked to leave the racecourse. We operate a Challenge 25 policy. BETTING There are two ways to bet at Chelmsford City Racecourse today, pool betting with totepool and the traditional ring bookmakers. Please note all betting ring enquiries should be directed to the Betting Ring Manager located in the small building at the end of the grandstand facing the betting ring. Over 18’s only. DOGS No dogs are allowed anywhere on the racecourse, with the exception of Assistance Dogs. DRESS CODE Smart dress is encouraged for both restaurants. Gentlemen are required to wear a collared shirt, jacket and tie in the Club Restaurant & Lounge. If the appropriate clothing is not worn you will be asked to leave the enclosure. In the Fairwood Brasserie, smart casual attire is acceptable, no trainers are permitted. Casual wear is permitted within the Sports Bar but we ask you to refrain from wearing club replica shirts at Chelmsford City Racecourse. Shirts must be worn at all times. Tailored shorts are acceptable for general admission only, but no shorts are to be worn within the hospitality areas. No sports shorts or flip flops are permitted, along with no team shirts. EMERGENCY PROCEDURES In the event of an incident occurring which necessitates the partial or total evacuation of any area of the racecourse, announcements will be broadcast over the public address system. Our staff, aided by the uniformed security will implement the carefully planned evacuation procedures and undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety. It is essential and a requirement that you follow their instructions. If you are able please take your belongings with you and proceed as directed out of the area as quickly and quietly as possible. These are just precautionary notes and we trust the procedures will not be required. However, please remember in the event of a partial or total evacuation of your area to: IF ABLE, TAKE YOUR BELONGINGS WITH YOU AND PROCEED AS DIRECTED QUICKLY AND QUIETLY OUT OF THE AREA.

NO SMOKING ZONES Smoking is not permitted in enclosed spaces. PHOTOGRAPHY Racegoers may take photos for private use only. Flash photography is not permitted. Press and commercial photographers must sign in at the Ticket Office before entry to the racecourse. REFUSING ADMISSION The Management reserves the right to

refuse admission to anyone without assigning a reason to do so. We operate a zero tolerance policy at Chelmsford City Racecourse, anyone acting in an inappropriate manner will be removed from the racecourse and refused re-entry. WIFI WIFI is available at Chelmsford City Racecourse and can be accessed on the ‘PUBLIC’ network. No password is required.

TERMS & CONDITIONS The following terms and conditions apply here at Chelmsford City Racecourse 1. All persons visiting Chelmsford City Racecourse and its associated properties are admitted subject to these Regulations and to the “Rules of Racing” that apply to all licensed racecourses across the UK. 2. Chelmsford City Racecourse reserves the right to vary its regulations without prior notice. 3. Chelmsford City Racecourse reserves the right to search racegoers and/or their bags. Any sharp objects or potentially destructive possessions will be confiscated. 4. All coaches may be searched for security reasons. It is the responsibility of all coach and group coordinators to ensure that each member of their party is aware individually of our Regulations. 5. Racegoers are not permitted to enter areas or buildings associated with the running of the event and any other area, building or section of a building where restricted access is signed. These include, among others, the Weighing Room complex, data collection areas, the Race-day stables, the horsebox park, the officials’ car parks, the Saddling Boxes, the Parade Rings, the Winners Enclosure and the Broadcast and Media Offices. 6. Entry to the racecourse is restricted to persons of over 18 unless accompanied by an adult. Persons aged 16 and under may only enter the Parade Ring (if holding an appropriate Owners badge) with an adult, and no-one of 12 years of age and under may enter the Parade Ring or Winners Enclosure in any circumstances. 7. Chelmsford City Racecourse reserves the right to refuse admission or eject any race-goer whose conduct is unacceptable or compromises the safety of race-goers, participants and horses. There will be no refunds for day tickets or annual badges when the holder has been asked to leave in these circumstances. 8. Annual badges will be numbered and are non-transferable. We reserve the right to request secondary identification material from annual badge and season-ticket holders. 9. No refunds will be given for badges, tickets or pro rata amounts of annual memberships and season tickets that are purchased but not used, except if racing is abandoned in the circumstances detailed below. 10. Chelmsford City Racecourse may abandon racing when directed by the British Horseracing Authority, the police or emergency services, or in any emergency or other exceptional circumstances beyond our reasonable control. If racing is abandoned, day ticket refunds will be applied as follows: Abandonment before completion of the first race – full refund; Abandonment up to the third race 50%; Abandonment other than as above – no refund. REFUNDS CANNOT BE PROCESSED ON RACEDAYS. Advance tickets will be automatically refunded via the original payment method. Tickets bought on the day should be posted with any receipts to: Accounts Department, Chelmsford City Racecourse, Great Leighs, Chelmsford, ESSEX, CM3 1QP and should be received within 28 days from the race meeting.
