MYDADDYPADDY looked something out of the ordinary when winning his bumper during the spring and it will be disappointing should he fail to deliver now switched to hurdles, for all that Atlantic Lad has already shown a fair level of form in this sphere and Harbour Island, who was 2-2 in bumpers, is another interesting recruit.
The Great British Bonus (GBB) incentivises and rewards with breeding, buying and racing of British-bred fillies by paying out bonuses of up to £100,000 per filly And now with GBBPlus to further incentivise staying fillies and chasing mares, there are more reasons than ever to breed, buy and race British. Majority funded by the HBLB.

Having won his sole start between the flags in good style, REAL QUARTZ is of major interest now embarking on a career under Rules for his powerful connections. It will look significant if the market speaks in his favour and, if that is the case, the hint should be taken. French import Inedit d’Amour may emerge as the main danger, while dual point winner Kent de Thaix also needs a second look.

Paul or Fatty as he was universally known started out with me (Charlo) when I retired from riding and started a valeting business.
He became an indispensable asset to the success of the business until his untimely death after 38 years.
He will always be missed and fondly remembered by all the jockeys, myself and fellow valets and I’m sure that his wife Audrey, stepdaughter Kirsty and grandchildren Alfie and Poppy will gain comfort from his popularity.

There were positives to glean from DEARKEITHANDKATY’s recent handicap debut fourth at Worcester and he appeals as the type to improve with experience. Fellow 4-y-o Drop Kick has been handed what looks a fair mark for this handicap bow and he is feared most ahead of Always A Reason, Bo Cruz and Rock N Roll Champ

Five horses go to post for this afternoon’sfeature, theWeatherbys nhstallions.co.uk Graduation Chase, and the quintet includes last year’s runner-up,UnexpectedParty.
Dan Skelton’s grey was run down late on by Nells Son last year and remains eligible for the race, as he has won just twice from 20 starts over fences. One of those wins came in the 2024 Grand Annual at Cheltenhamandhefinishedsecond in the corresponding contest at this year’s Festival. As he had done last year, the 10-year-old arrives in Cumbria with a run under his belt anditwouldnotbeasurprisetosee himstepforwardconsiderably.
GavinCromwell’sPathd’Orouxalso contested the 2024 renewal. The eight-year-old finished 13 lengths adriftofUnexpectedParty, although the BHA handicapper has just 4lb between the pair. A record of 1-16 over fences confirms that he isn’t a prolific winner, but he is a talented individualonhisday.
Both Classic Maestro and Hombre de Guerra have plenty to find on official ratings, the pair rated 132 and 128, respectively. The former made all to win a couple of small fieldcontestslastwinterandshould at least find conditions to his liking, Jennie Candlish’s Jet Away sevenyear-oldclearlyenjoyssoftground.
Nick Alexander’s Hombre de Guerra also appreciates plenty of give in the ground and was
much improved for the switch to fences last season. Rated just 112 when taking on subsequent Grade 1 winner Caldwell Potter over this course-and-distance, he then won twice on soft ground at Ayr, seeinghisofficialratingriseto128.A non-runner in the Colin Parker just eight days ago, this will be his first startin294daysandwhilsthecould gowell, heismorelikelytocontinue his progression when reverting to handicapcompany.
Steel Ally promises to put up a bold show.
Themostintriguingrunnerischasing debutant SteelAlly, who represents the in-form stable of Sam Thomas. Runner-up in the Welsh Champion Hurdle last October, he went on to win a valuable handicap hurdle at Haydock and ran a career-best when narrowly beaten in Fontwell’s Grade2NationalSpiritHurdle.
He likes to be ridden forcefully, so coming back to the minimum trip shouldn’t be a problem and Thomas saddled four successive winners between 31 October and 5 November, when him and Dylan Johnston recorded a double at Chepstow. The Doctor Dino gelding appeals as the type to take to fences and promises to put up a bold show, in receipt of 11lb from all fouropponents.

Stewards Note:
NORTHERN AIR: Following its run on 22/3/2025 it was reported that the horse weakened quickly late on.
ProbableS.P’s: 10-3 NorthernAir(IRE), 4-1 Ostrava du Berlais (FR), 9-2 SimilarStory(IRE), 11-2 Celestial Fashion (GB), 13-2 Dollar Collar (IRE), 16-1 Maid of Houxty (GB), 20-1 Gilbertina (GB), 28-1 Easy To Follow (IRE)
The fact that NORTHERN AIR has already had two wind operations is slightly disconcerting given her low-mileage, but it wasn’t a bad maiden hurdle that she won at Taunton last winter and the 6-y-o is of strong interest now switched to fences on debut for the Dan Skelton yard, particularly bearing in mind that she was a decisive winner of her sole start between the flags. Ostrava du Berlais and Celestial Fashion are feared most in that order of preference.
