A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

TUESDAY 31ST MARCH 2026

Good afternoon,

Welcome to Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse for our Easter Egg Chase Day.

Today, we have six exciting races on the card. The first race is the Weatherbys nhstallions.co.uk EBF Junior “National Hunt” Hurdle Race at 2:15 pm, with a prize of £11,000 The final race of the day is the Tom Jones Live at Chester Racecourse Mares’ Handicap Hurdle Race at 4:50 pm.

There’s something for everyone here today, and if you have little ones with you, be sure to check out our Easter activities and dive into a world of springtime fun. Little explorers can set off around the racecourse to spot our cheerful Easter characters. Complete the trail and they’ll be rewarded with a sweet Easter treat.

But that’s not all – we’ve got colourful crafts and face painting too. All activities will be available throughout the day.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank today’s sponsors; Weatherbys, Wrexham Lager, Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, HRS Cladding, Keegans, The Uncommon Practice, and Xenon Workplace. All at Bangor-on-Dee greatly appreciate your support.

We hope to welcome you back for our Countryside Day on Saturday, 18 April.

HOW TO BET WITH A RACECOURSE BOOKMAKER

WAYS TO BET

STRAIGHT EACH WAY

Win only A bookmaker taking each way bets will display the terms on which he/she accepts such bets on the top of his/her board. This is a bet for your selection to win or be placed.

STANDARD TERMS FOR EACH WAY BETTING

In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.

· Fewer than 5 runners – all to win

5-7 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2

· 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3

Handicaps with 12-15 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3

· Handicaps with 16 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4

AWAY BETTING

Many bookmakers will also take bets at the other race meetings today. They offer a comprehensive service, including bets settled TAX FREE at Starting Price (S.P.)

BETTING WITHOUT THE FAVOURITE

At reduced odds you can back a horse and collect if it wins or runs second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite.

PLACING YOUR BET

Shop around for the best odds against your selection. When you have decided on where to place your bet, state the number of your chosen horse and the stake, for example “number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to his/her clerk and hand your stake to the bookmaker You will then be given an itemised receipt that gives details of the bet and shows potential winnings. You should keep this ticket safe.

COLLECTING YOUR WINNINGS

If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the “Weighed In” announcement has been made. There may still be a Stewards’ Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses, may be disqualified. On rare occasions even the horse coming fourth has been awarded the race You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker as they have all been approved by the Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd, which administers the betting rings at each of Britain’s 60 racecourses. The AGT also offers a full late pay service, in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. Late pay claims should be sent to AGT, 3A Kings Hall, Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire PE27 4WY.

Tel: 01480 499180

In the unlikely event that no independent bookmaker turns up to service either end of the racecourse (Bangor and Overton car parks), Bangor Sport will be able to service all betting requirements. Bangor Sport will offer to either ‘take the price’ or use the SP as a means of settling any bet. We will endeavour to show all races (including all those from away courses) on screens at either end of the course. If you have any queries, please ask a member of staff for help.

15. A guide to the horse’s recent form and star rating. Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

HHHHH Selected to win the race.

HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.

HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

16. Jockey’s Name. If there is a number next to the name, this indicates that the jockey can claim that amount in weight (lbs) off the stated riding weight

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

BEST SELECTIONS ON THE DAY

Having made a successful start to his career at Hereford back in November, Planters Punch likely has more to offer However, a 7lb penalty does demand more of him and MOLLY’S LAD may be able to capitalise. Fergal O’Brien’s inmate lost little in defeat when runner-up to an unbeaten rival at Carlisle and this sharper test may be more to his liking. Crack Ops and Mistral St Georges are others of interest

TOTEWIN: MOLLY’S LAD

TOTEEACHWAY: PLANTERS PUNCH

Laura Horsfall has her string in fine fettle and ESCORT’KHEOPS could be set to continue the good run of form. The six-year-old arrives on the back of a breakthrough victory in a maiden hurdle at Plumpton and this longer distance could unlock further potential. Slim Marvel found only a progressive rival too strong at Ffos Las and a 4lb higher mark shouldn’t prevent another bold showing, while Coumeenoole has fallen to an attractive figure.

TOTEWIN: ESCORT’KHEOPS

Roses All The Way followed up her Musselburgh triumph with a decent second at Ayr and must enter calculations. However, she isn’t sure to be at her best over this sharper test and HALFTHEWORLDAWAY is more convincing. The five-year-old made all over C&D and may possess too much speed for her rivals. The returning Highland Haven is the pick of the remainder

KAHAVARI bounced back to form when beaten just a head at Carlisle earlier in the month. That was his second runner-up effort from his last three starts, and a 1lb rise may not be enough to stop him from going one better. Busty Boy has been running well in defeat and could make the frame once again, while Nativehill has to be noted on his debut for these connections.

TOTEWIN:

FELTON BELLEVUE won at Plumpton in February and the veteran was only beaten a neck at the same venue on his most recent outing. On that evidence, Ben Case’s gelding could be hard to beat once again. I See The Sea has dropped to an eyecatching mark and his latest third at Doncaster was not devoid of promise. Others to consider are The Scorpion King and Nine Nine Nine.

TOTEWIN: FELTON BELLEVUE

TOTEEACHWAY: I SEE THE SEA

EASTERN SHORES has been running well in defeat and her latest second at Huntingdon gives the six-year-old a big chance off a 2lb lower mark. Voodoo Angel is another who regularly makes the frame and could prove to be the main threat to the selection, although Roaring Home would have a big chance if returning to the form that saw her finish second at Warwick in November

TOTEWIN: EASTERN
