Good afternoon,

Welcome to Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse for Countryside Day. We’re thrilled to welcome you for what promises to be a fantastic day of racing and rural celebration.

Racing begins today at 1.17pm with the Broxton Gates Novices’ Hurdle Race. The feature race of the day comes at 2.27pm with the Novices’ Hurdle Race where runners will compete for a total prize pot of £15,000. Racing concludes at 5.17pm with the Family Fun Day on 16th May “Junior” National Hunt Flat Race.

As the name suggests, today is all about celebrating the countryside. Before racing begins, you can enjoy our dog show, where you can enter your four-legged friends for the chance to win fantastic prizes. You’ll also have the opportunity to enter our ‘Countryside Chic’ best dressed competition and watch a sheep dog demonstration.

Elsewhere around the course, don’t miss the Vintage Tractor Display, showcasing a beautiful collection of classic tractors, alongside a wonderful local trade stand.

HOW TO BET WITH A RACECOURSE BOOKMAKER

WAYS TO BET

STRAIGHT EACH WAY

Win only A bookmaker taking each way bets will display the terms on which he/she accepts such bets on the top of his/her board. This is a bet for your selection to win or be placed.

STANDARD TERMS FOR EACH WAY BETTING

In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.

· Fewer than 5 runners – all to win

5-7 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2

· 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3

Handicaps with 12-15 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3

· Handicaps with 16 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4

AWAY BETTING

Many bookmakers will also take bets at the other race meetings today. They offer a comprehensive service, including bets settled TAX FREE at Starting Price (S.P.)

BETTING WITHOUT THE FAVOURITE

At reduced odds you can back a horse and collect if it wins or runs second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite.

PLACING YOUR BET

Shop around for the best odds against your selection. When you have decided on where to place your bet, state the number of your chosen horse and the stake, for example “number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to his/her clerk and hand your stake to the bookmaker You will then be given an itemised receipt that gives details of the bet and shows potential winnings. You should keep this ticket safe.

COLLECTING YOUR WINNINGS

If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the “Weighed In” announcement has been made. There may still be a Stewards’ Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses, may be disqualified. On rare occasions even the horse coming fourth has been awarded the race You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker as they have all been approved by the Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd, which administers the betting rings at each of Britain’s 60 racecourses. The AGT also offers a full late pay service, in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. El Rojo Grande has enjoyed a fine season with four victories, including on his latest start at Warwick, although he has questions to answer with regards to stamina. Streamsforth Lad was runner-up over C&D on his penultimate start, finishing a place ahead of SUBTLE FORTUNE. He backed that run up when filling the same position at Hexham on Monday, but Mel Rowley’s mare has every chance of reversing the form coming into this a fresher horse.

It is possible that Reckless Spending found a relatively quick turnaround against him when down the field in the Prestige at Haydock in February Despite the fact he has been freshened up, he may be better suited by going right-handed, so PARK PRINCESS is preferred. A Listed winner on her penultimate start at Doncaster, this is a much easier task than she encountered in the Albert Bartlett and she can end her season on a high. Pottersville heads the remainder

KILLYCARN arrives on the back of an improved display at Musselburgh. He rallied well to finish a determined second and remains of interest with Oscar Palmer’s 7lb allowance helping his cause. Lejo Du Seuil also found one too good last time - over 2m at Huntingdon - and this extra yardage could prove to his liking. He rates the main danger, unless a recent wind operation sparks improvement in They Want Me, who also makes his handicap debut

EREMENKO opened her account over timber in a maiden hurdle on good going at Plumpton recently Nicky Henderson’s mare easily landed the odds and, with underfoot conditions remaining in her favour, she may well prove better than her opening mark. I C U In My Dreams also makes her handicap bow after scoring nicely at Newcastle and that looks stronger form than Las Canals’ victory at Sedgefield.

ADMIRAL STEWART showed the benefit of a wind operation at Uttoxeter last month. He finished a creditable fourth in a tougher contest than this and Jamie Snowden’s charge looks on a fair mark if building on that effort Carrigeen Castle produced a strong finish to take second at Hexham and is likely to prove competitive raised only 1lb, while the veteran Presentandcounting has won carrying top weight in the past and drops back in trip with a shout

Speed Davis got back on the scoresheet at Musselburgh but the combination of a longer trip, a 141-day absence and a 6lb rise dampens any enthusiasm for a follow-up success. Of more appeal over this distance is DWIGHT K SCHRUTE, who has abundant stamina and gets the vote based on his more proven reliability. Tiger Orchid and Kintail command respect, although Our Dylan could be a bigger danger after successfully tackling an extended 3m at Wincanton.

The Betting Ring Managers Inspection Pitch is located in the Tattersalls Enclosure, (please see racecourse map). He will be available in each enclosure to assist in any betting dispute.

GENERAL

All badges, car park labels and hospitality packages are sold subject to these terms and conditions.

FORCE MAJEURE

1 The company shall not be liable to the racegoer for any failure or omission or breach caused by an event or events beyond the control of the company such as but not limited to war, civil disturbance, order of a Government Ministry or department or public authority, fire, flood, natural catastrophe, royal demise, labour dispute, lock-out, withdrawal of labour or breakdown or interruption of services or transport (public or otherwise) or death or illness of a key person.

1.1 Upon the happening of such an event the obligations of the company and any period of time then running shall be suspended for the period of the event plus such time as may be required to resume normality.

1.2 Such an event shall not entitle the racegoer to take any steps against the company for breach or to terminate the agreement or otherwise

PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE RACEMEETING

2 Where badges, car park labels or hospitality packages are sold for a specified area of the Racecourse, the Company will use its best endeavours to ensure that the specified area is available for use at the specified time If however the specified area cannot be used, for reasons not within the control of the Company, then the Company shall be entitled to offer a reasonable alternative. If no alternative is offered by the Company the customer will be entitled to a full refund of all monies received from him or her by the Company.

3 Refunds, other than those covered by clause 2 immediately above will not be considered unless badges/labels are returned to the racecourse, not less than 7 days prior to the race meeting and successfully resold. All refunds will be subject to an administration charge of 15% of the total refund.

ONCE THE RACE MEETING HAS COMMENCED

4 The climbing of fences, stands or any other buildings is forbidden.

5 Any person failing to comply with instructions from a steward or police officer may be ejected from the Racecourse.

6 Please observe the designated no drinking areas. Alcoholic beverages must not be carried to or consumed in these areas.

7 Amateur photography is accepted but only without flash equipment.

8 Portable telephones may not be used anywhere on the Racecourse for betting purposes. Flags, banners and other articles and any behaviour such as drunkenness, abusive conduct, singing or shouting which may constitute an annoyance to spectators or distract or frighten the horses are prohibited.

9 Transfers between enclosures may be possible on the day, subject to availability.

10 Parking or setting down on the site is prohibited, other than at the official car parks.

11 Lost or stolen badges will not be replaced.

12 Hospitality badges are sold on the understanding that no money in respect of unused badges will be reimbursed.

13 Subject to the provisions of clause 1 which shall prevail over this clause, in the event of abandonment before racing, or up to the “Weighed-In” of the first race there will be a full refund of badge and car parking costs. In the event of abandonment after the “Weighed-In” of the first race up to the “Weighed-In” of the third race or nominated feature race, whichever is later there will be a 50% refund of badge and car parking costs. In the event of abandonment thereafter there will be no refunds. No cash refunds to be paid on the day. All refunds to be administered after the meeting by post. Where any customer is entitled (pursuant to clause 13) to any refund, in order to qualify for such refund the customer must follow the procedure listed opposite:

13.1 Make a note of the reference numbers of all badges and car park labels (these numbers will be found on the front of each badge or label).

13.2 Send the badges, and/or labels along with a covering letter stating the full name and address of the sender and, if different from that of sender, the full name and address of the purchaser of the badges or labels to: Refund Office, Chester Race Company Limited, The Racecourse, Chester, CH1 2LY. To be valid, requests for refunds must be received in writing within one month of the abandoned raceday. The Company shall have no responsibility or liability of any nature in respect of any refund request received after that time.

14 All persons visiting the Racecourse are admitted subject to these Regulations and to the Rules of Racing. The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to/or to remove from the Racecourse, in its absolute discretion and without giving any reasons, any person failing to comply with such Rules and Regulations or whose presence is, in its absolute discretion, a source of danger or annoyance and shall have no obligation to give any reason therefore.

15 The Company shall in no circumstances be liable for any loss, damage, cost or expense or any consequential or indirect loss or damage of any kind.

EVACUATION PROCEDURE

18 Bangor Racecourse has enhanced Safety & Security measures to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment of the day. However, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency.

We employ professionally trained and experienced stewards who are located predominantly around the course and are identifiable by their uniform.

In the event of a situation that requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards.

The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember:

• Take your belongings with you;

• Under the directions of the stewards, proceed quickly and calmly to the safe area.
