Welcome to the first day of the Ladbrokes November Racing Weekend.
This can often be an insightful afternoon with future Grade 1 winners Simonsig, Beat That, Irving, Verdana Blue, Chantry House and Crambo all winning on this card in recent years
We are extremely grateful to Ladbrokes for their support of this weekend for the first time, including four races today. The feature is the Join Ladbrokes Bet £5 Get £30 Handicap Chase where Your Darling bids to win the race for the third time having been successful in 2022 and 2023.
This is our annual free raceday and we look forward to welcoming a big and enthusiastic crowd as usual. All the money captured through the £1 booking fee will be donated to our Ascot Racecourse Supports charity and community programme, helping us to support small, local charities as well those related to equine causes
As part of that programme, we operate the Bet With Ascot Donation Box Scheme where racegoers can put their losing betting slips into a box, selecting one of our two chosen charities Today we are presenting a cheque for £1,000 to Quest RDA which was the winning charity in the 2025 Flat season. Emma Ward will represent the charity when making the trophy presentations to winning connections following the third race.
We were absolutely delighted and incredibly proud to be named RCA Showcase Champion Racecourse at the annual RCA Showcase Awards at York Racecourse last week. Ascot is the first racecourse to win this award three times and the last time was in 2016 so this is a great accolade for the whole team here after a very successful year delivering the best possible experience to customers. We look forward to hosting the 2026 RCA Showcase Awards next November
Tomorrow is the final day of the Ladbrokes November Racing Weekend where the Ladbrokes Ascot Hurdle and Ladbrokes 1965 Chase take centre stage. We hope to see you again then.
Yours sincerely,

Sir Francis Brooke Bt.
His Majesty’s Representative & Chairman

Your guide to all of today’s races
The Safer Gambling Week 'National Hunt' Maiden Hurdle Race
The term ‘maiden’ inspires thoughts of damsels in distress but in horse racing terms it takes on a different meaning. When a horse is referred to as a maiden, be it a colt or a filly, it simply means that they have yet to win a race. Many of the runners aged four-years-old and upwards in this two mile, three furlong race will still be inexperienced over hurdles and almost certainly improve for the racecourse experience they gain today.
PAGES 18-19
2nd Race 12.50pm
The Bet With Ascot Donation Box Scheme 'Introductory' Hurdle Race
An Introductory Hurdle is a race which is restricted to horses which have not previously run in more than one hurdle race. This particular two mile contest is for four-year-olds and upwards. The weights are initially set at 11st 2lb for each runner with fillies and mares receiving a 7lb allowance from their male rivals However, any runner that was successful on their first start will be allocated a 5lb penalty.
PAGES 22-23
3rd Race 1.25pm
The Get Your Ladbrokes Free Ascot Bet 'Chasing Excellence' Beginners' Steeple Chase
A beginners’ chase is simply a race for horses which have yet to win a steeple chase under National Hunt rules and therefore many of the runners will still be inexperienced over the larger obstacles This particular race is designed for four-year-olds and upwards and will be run over two miles and five furlongs Weight is allocated according to age and sex with four-year-olds carrying 9lb less than their older rivals due to their relative immaturity, whilst fillies and mares receive a 7lb allowance.
PAGES 28-29
4th Race 2.00pm
The Join Ladbrokes Bet £5 Get £30 Handicap Steeple Chase
This is a two mile and five furlong handicap steeple chase for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 0 to 145. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than their lower rated rivals. As a guide, horses rated 60 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 170.
PAGES 34-35
5th Race 2.35pm
The Ascot Partners Handicap Hurdle Race
This is a two mile handicap hurdle race for three-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 0 to 140. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have won a race, been placed twice or raced at least three times in order for the handicapper to gauge the level of form shown. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap In simple terms a horse rated 140 in this particular race would be required to carry 5lb more than a rival rated 135
PAGES 38-39
6th Race 3.10pm
The Ladbrokes Best Odds Guaranteed In Racing Handicap Steeple Chase
This is a three mile handicap steeple chase for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 0 to 120 Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed. A below par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased. Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty – usually 7lb.
PAGES 42-43
7th Race 3.45pm
The Ladbrokes Get Rewarded With Ladbucks Open National Hunt Flat Race
As the title suggests, a National Hunt Flat Race, or ‘bumper’ as they are more commonly referred to, is a race that takes place without any fences or hurdles. Designed for young horses that, it is presumed, will go jumping in time, only debutants or horses that have run in this type of race (or an Irish or French equivalent) are qualified to run. If they have previously run on the Flat or in hurdle races or steeple chases (except for point-to-points), they are unable to enter This particular contest is restricted to horses aged four & five and will be run over two miles

The safety and welfare of horses and jockeys is paramount at Ascot. In recent years we have invested significantly to improve our facilities on and off the track to ensure we provide the very best care and attention for all participants
For Jumps racing, we introduced one-fit padded hurdles at the start of the 2018 season, becoming the first Grade 1 track to do so These are now widely used across Jumps racing and have seen the risk of falling reduce by 11 per cent while also resulting in fewer superficial injuries.
At the start of the 2022/23 season, the wood and vinyl padding on the take-off boards, guard rails and top boards for all chase fences and hurdles were switched from orange to white. This was part of an industry-wide project following research from Exeter University that showed white provides increased contrast and visibility for horses, leading to improved jumping performance. More generally, four specifically qualified equine vets are on duty every raceday. During each race, vets follow the runners by car and can respond to and attend a casualty generally within a minute – as fast as the paramedic teams responsible for human casualties
Significant changes were made to the racing surface itself during the redevelopment in 2006. The key elements of the project were to camber the home and old paddock bends and to remove the road crossings over the track, replacing them with underpasses Further improvements to equine welfare provision were made as part of a £700,000 project to create an enhanced unsaddling area in 2016. Increased in size to accommodate large field races more comfortably, the Unsaddling Enclosure Lawn also has equine misting fans to aid with post-race cooling of horses.
Ascot’s two permanent veterinary boxes are supplemented with an X-Ray machine at all meetings to assist with swift diagnosis before administration of treatment on site or any movement necessary to equine hospitals. There are two equine ambulances on course at all times and three ambulances for any incidents involving injuries to jockeys. The jockeys’ facilities at Ascot include a medical treatment room, rest rooms and a dedicated room for physiotherapy

The BHA handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring penalties and allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicapped races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change in rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, their latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h. 22. Jockey’s name and photo If there is a number next to the name, this indicates that the jockey can claim that amount in weight (lbs) off the stated riding weight.

TIMEFORM VIEW Sometimes flounders when it comes to the crunch, but boasts a good record fresh and is 2-2 at Ascot, having won this race in both 2022 and 2023. Better than ever when scoring at Uttoxeter (2 1/2m, soft) during the spring and while this 5lb higher mark demands more, he is a big player nonetheless.

2-1 Your Darling (IRE), 7-2 Lord Baddesley (IRE), 7-2 Royal Jewel (IRE), 5-1 Courtland (IRE), 7-1 Neon Moon (IRE)
The one with the most appealing profile is ROYAL JEWEL, who didn’t convince with his stamina for this trip at Newton Abbot during the spring, but it was a different story back there on his reappearance last month when the 6-y-o produced a career-best to take an 11-runner handicap in decisive fashion. The return to a right-hand track will be in his favour and he gets the nod ahead of Your Darling, a dual previous winner of this race, and the consistent Courtland

At all meetings there is a team of specially qualified vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses. During each race vets follow the horse by car and can attend a casualty in the same response time as the paramedic teams responsible for human casualties. It is standard practise for screens to be fixed around any horse receiving veterinary treatment. This does not reflect the severity of an injury, just allows the vet some privacy and the patient a calm environment in which to recover. Please do not always assume the worst if you see screens around a fallen horse.
In the event of racing being abandoned, refunds on entrance money and car parks will only be made in the following circumstances:
a) Abandonment before the running of the first race – full refund.
b) Abandonment before the third or feature race, whichever is later – 50% refund
Where the provision of hospitality services has commenced and the raceday is subsequently abandoned there will be no refund for the hospitality.
In the event of an abandonment there is no need to contact us, we will be in touch with next steps and any required actions.
The Horserace Betting Levy Board prize fund schemes provide for the estimated inclusion of £1,327,940 in ratecard and incremental prize money at this racecourse from 15th September to 31st December 2025.
