A Letter from Daniel Barrett Campus Pastor
I’ve been in church my whole life, and honestly, I’ve never seen anything quite like this. Since Easter, we have baptized 178 people! That includes 151 people who took part in our spontaneous baptisms on Easter weekend.
At Easter, Rob gave a simple challenge: if you’ve placed your faith in Jesus but have never gone public with your faith through baptism, why wait? And wow … people responded. Across our two campuses, 151 people said “yes” to taking that step and publicly declaring their faith in Jesus.
Needless to say, there were a lot of wet clothes, happy tears, cheering crowds, and incredible stories. And my heart is so full when I think about all God has been doing in and through North Metro Church during this season.
If you’re new to the idea of baptism, let me take a moment to explain what it is. Baptism is a public, outward expression of an inward decision to trust Jesus as Savior and Lord. It’s a way of saying, “Jesus has changed my life, and I’m not hiding it.”
Baptism is also something Jesus modeled for us Himself when He was baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River. And we believe it’s an act of obedience to Jesus’ command to go and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
When someone is baptized—going under the water and coming back up—it symbolizes identifying with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, and being raised to new life in Him.
And honestly, one of my favorite parts of baptism weekends is hearing people’s stories. Every testimony is different, but they all point to the same truth: Jesus is still changing lives. Those stories often inspire others to take their next step too.
So if you’ve placed your faith in Jesus as your Savior and King but have never been baptized, I’d encourage you to take that next step. Don’t overthink it. Don’t wait for the “perfect time.” Just take the step.

And even if you’re not getting baptized, come celebrate with us! There’s nothing quite like cheering for people as they take this step of faith. God has been moving in such an incredible way in this season of our church, and I’m grateful to be part of it with all of you.

BAPTISMS
We offer classes for elementary-aged children, students, and adults quarterly. After attending a class, one of our pastors will meet with you or your child to discuss the class content.

Healthy marriages start long before the wedding. Building strong marriages matters here at North Metro Church. We want to help build and support strong, thriving marriages centered on Christ.
We have marriage discipleship classes designed for seriously dating and engaged couples, newly married couples, and couples who want to make their marriages more enriched by applying biblical principles and growing in their walk with Christ. HOME REPAIR ASSISTANCE
NMC has a faithful group of men looking to assist widows, single moms, and other ladies in our church. These men are skilled in most areas of basic home repairs, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry; however, they are unable to take on major renovations or projects that require county permitting. STEPHEN MINISTRY
Stephen Ministry is a one-on-one care ministry that supports those experiencing difficult times. Stephen Ministers are members of our NMC community who are well-trained in encouraging others who are enduring painful times, such as the loss of a loved one, a marriage, a job, or a health issue. NMCU | ENROLL TODAY
North Metro Church University (NMCU) is our primary vehicle for studying the Bible together to form a biblical worldview. In NMCU Core (101-104), you'll move through a set sequence of classes and learn about the big picture of Scripture and how everything in Scripture points to and is fulfilled in Jesus. In this learning process, NMCU will also help you understand and communicate your faith to others so you can become a more faithful follower of Jesus, a disciple who makes disciples.
UPDATE: This summer, we will offer our final in-person class for NMCU 101. The 101 summer semester dates are Tuesday, June 16, through Tuesday, August 18 Head to northmetro.org/nmcu to sign up. Pine Cove City is coming back to North Metro Church, and we’re excited to host camp at our Sewell Mill Campus July 2024! This unforgettable week is designed for rising 1st-6th graders for the 2026-2027 school year, with each day running from 9:00am-4:00pm and packed with highenergy fun like a climbing wall, inflatables, water slides, team games, Bible study, and hilarious skits. Campers will also experience powerful moments of worship, time with their counselor, and opportunities to grow in their faith, all leading up to a special family celebration on Friday at 4:00pm. We’ve put together a specialized field manual featuring eight weekly missions that include Scripture passages to study, devotions to read together, and missions to complete in your community. Whether it's serving a neighbor or spreading kindness in the community, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to show God’s love in action!
After you complete all eight missions, report back to NMC Kids headquarters! NMC College Mission Trips
We are thrilled to send out two College teams this summer to partner with ministries dedicated to sharing the Gospel in diverse and urban contexts. Here is how you can support and pray for them as they go!
City Takers Mission Trip
Tuesday, June 2-Saturday, June 6
In June, a team of about 30 students will be serving in the heart of our own city through a partnership with City Takers. This ministry is a movement of radical love dedicated to raising up urban missionaries who transform cities through hip-hop, service, and the message of Jesus. Our students will be on the front lines of this mission, engaging in community improvement and hands-on service projects designed to meet the real needs of our neighbors. As they work to see Atlanta through a new lens, please pray that their service would open doors for deep connections and that the physical work they do would be a tangible reflection of the Gospel. We also ask for your prayers for the safety and energy of our students as they navigate the city, and that this week would strengthen their leadership and commitment to a missional lifestyle right here at home.
New Jersey Mission Trip
Thursday, July 9-Monday, July 13
In July, a group of NMC college students will be heading to New Jersey to partner with Alpha Ministries International (AMI) for a cross-cultural mission in one of the most diverse areas of the country. Since its start in 1995, Alpha Ministries has been dedicated to sharing the Gospel through service and radical love, a mission that began by bringing transformation to impoverished communities in Pakistan and now extends to reaching the nations here in the States. During this trip, our team will engage with Hindu, Muslim, and Jewish neighbors, visiting local places of worship to better understand these communities and share the hope of Christ through intentional, relational evangelism. Please join us in praying that God would open doors for natural, Gospelcentered conversations and that our students would serve with a balance of boldness and humility in Jesus’ name. We also ask for your prayers for deep unity among the team and that this experience would give our students a fresh perspective on how God is working across all cultures.
ANDY LAMPERT'S STORY
I was raised in a loving home where the value of work and achievement was emphasized. The more I achieved, the more I felt my parents’ love.
After a failed marriage in 1985, I discovered the truth about Jesus and surrendered my life to Him. In 1986, I met and married my current wife, Ann. We have one child, a son.
After coming to Christ, I thought that God would delight more in me if I worked harder. As a parent, that meant creating a moral, faithful son who would follow Christ. I was recognized for being an effective, godly father. I thrived on the applause of others. My identity was wrapped up in my son. This is how pride and co-dependency took root in my heart.
Proverbs 29:25 says: Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe. When my son left for college, my idolatry was exposed. Overwhelmed with grief and sadness, I sought counseling. It did not help. The counselor simply affirmed my great parenting skills. This was the first time that the applause of someone else made my heart sink.
I coped with my empty heart by filling my days with activity. Busyness was my drug of choice. I signed up to be a Stephen Minister, but in the process discovered the cause of my despair—pride and co-dependency.
It was through Step 6 (Repentance) in Re:generation that God began to heal me. My view of God continues to grow in a healthy way. I am seeing Him as a loving father instead of a demanding parent. I am beginning to understand that He delights in me just the way I am. Because of His unchanging love, I can be honest with Him and with others.
My life has taken a lasting turn since Re:generation. Because of Jesus working through the tools I’ve learned, anxiety has less power over me. The steps revealed the cause of my anxiety and the solution to it. I am finding rest for my body and soul.
My relationships have improved. I have more understanding, compassion, and patience with the struggles of other people.
I don’t constantly feel the need to share my opinion or draw attention to myself.
Because of what the Lord taught me through Re:generation, I now know what to do when temptation comes my way. I can recognize the warning signs and my own triggers, so that I can respond in a godly way, not out of my pride.
My encouragement to you — ask yourself if you tend to find your identity and validation in the things you do for your career, your parenting, your competition, your volunteering, or anything else. It may be that these “good things” are finding a place in your heart that belongs to God.
The Bible says in Matthew 9:12-14: While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.”
Here is one observation: If my sole aim in life is to be with Jesus, I need to do two things: one is to recognize and confess my need for help. The second is to leave my circle of Pharisees, walk past them, and sit at the feet of Jesus with other sinners.
I believe that Re:generation is a gift for everyone who is willing to do the work and wants to grow in their relationship with the Lord. This includes people with the “worst” sin and those with the “acceptable” sin, visible and invisible. Proverbs 28:13 says: Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy. God’s mercy includes an awareness of our need for deliverance and finding His grace to be sufficient.
In addition to the freedom I have discovered personally, I have witnessed first-hand the tangible improvement in the lives of other men at NMC. These godly men are serving at NMC with high levels of passion and commitment; yet, they are finding new freedom, new power, and new effectiveness in their ministries.
